19:57 avoiding the nail upgrades is more for than just saving time from not doing so. The bosses scale with your nail arts so keeping the lowest nail art while upgrading the magic means that the magic damage to boss health ratio is greater
Wait, am I reading that right - the more you upgrade yourself, the harder bosses become?
@@Fraxxxi not quite. Only specific bosses scale. I think it might be only the dream bosses because they wanted them to have the same difficulty regardless of what nail you have. So they wont be a harder relative to your current nail power but harder relative to previous nail power
@@lukostello they will be easier to relative nail power lo, their health scale but not as much as the nail damage, so they will still die much faster with max nail then old nail, BUT spells become less and less effective, and as spells literally destroy them uhm.

Its like a sport but mentally more than fisical

Man, this reminds me that I’m the last Pantheon away from getting platinum on this game. I just haven’t wanted to grind it out 😔. Great video about a great game and really impressed by the runners knowing how challenging this game is.

Fantastic video!
Great video! One recommendation though in terms of editing and presentation though. Can you guys NOT put the title of a runners current standing in record holding. It spoils the journey and story you're telling when comparing rivals. This has also been an issue for past speed docs. For example in this video when skurry speaks, his name and title of "Former world record holder for true ending NMG" comes up and spoils the end result, as well as when vysual speaks his title comes up as "Current WR holder for true ending NMG." Now im not saying to remove the title placing altogether, runners deserve recognition. However maybe a better alternative is to have a placeholder title then as the video shows the end result, change the title to an accurate description of their placing. Thanks for the content though!

@@SpeedDocs No problem. Sorry if my criticism was difficult to understand, i feel like i could've worded it better so i edited it a bit. Just want to hold on to my feeling of suspense watching the story of these speedrunner's rivalries. Again though amazing work on these, im incredibly surprised at the channels sub count. I looked over thinking I'd see a few hundred K because of the quality these videos have had.

Yeah, I agree with this. The history is so interesting and this was super well researched, but I was a little sad that 16 minutes into an hour video I already knew who ended up with the record. Not everyone watching these videos is going to know who holds the current record.
the reason not many people like glitches in hollow knight is cuz its such an incredible game, so no one wants to skip playing it by going out of bounds or warping or whatever

I really need to get around to playing hollow knight I always watch videos for it. Just one thing that was screaming in my mind at 25:20 "WHY USE COMIC SANS FOR SPLITS!". Real talk though it's impressive how fast this run got optimized.
I've never owned, nor played Hollow Knight. Don't even know what system it is for other than PC. But I'm gonna watch this, because it seems like it'll be interesting from a technical gameplay standpoint. Hype!

Why does this video act like fire and monstah are so amazing? "Fire is better than you at any%" and vysuals "is not a monstah, but..."
Vysuals has gotten the WR so many times, yet this vid acts like fire and monstah are better.
Two corrections:
1. None of the endings are considered "true" or "bad", according to the creators.
2. *readies flame shield* Both the Knight and Hollow Knight are "it", not "he/him".

I’ve tried so many times to like this game, but I just can’t do it. It has great art and atmosphere, the music is fantastic and I love metroidvanias.
But I can’t stand the combat in this game. It feels awful and I hate how time stops briefly when you get hit. If only this game had a better combat system, I’m sure it’d be one of my favs.
I appreciate the effort put into this, but the Hollow Knight uses they/them pronouns, not he/him.
Oh, we were not aware of that. We tried to be mindful of people's pronouns (MossyRain was one of them). We'll try to keep that in mind for next time

Don't know if the game gets better (and harder) later on, but I quitted after about 5 hours because I haven't seen anything of the oh so great game up to this point.
Nevertheless, a well made speed run documentation, even one about a bad game, is always worth a watch.
