Look in the party supplies section- sometimes they have canned heat. It’s not hot enough to cook rice and beans, but it will heat up a can of soup. And it’s safe to use indoors, thus good for “stealth” cooking if you feel hiding food from your neighbors is a good idea.
The best kit Is the kit that is ready to use. 🌋⛈🌪🌊❄🔥 😎👍 Any level of preparation is a game changer! Even if it's 2 gal of water 💧 a box of matches 🔥 and 2 pkgs of Ramen 🍜 Something is always better than nothing! 👍
Great video. Dollar tree has been the go to place in getting basic medical supplies and gardening supplies and hygiene supplies. Thank you for sharing this video.
You're right about some things being slightly cheaper else where. Oh, for those that may not know, you can order things (online) in bulk from them and have it shipped to your local store for free; then you can just go pick it up. Also my husband used to 'fuss' because I was taking a bit longer in our nearby stores when we first moved here. I just explained I was doing recon. I wanted to know where I could get the best price, etc. Now, when he needs to go into town for something, he'll ask me to look at his list and give him a total price and where to go. 🤣
Right on brother, thank you for all the great content, I fear I've fallen off the deep end and buying everything in sight and having to pull back and be smart, otherwise I'm going to look like the Grinch after Stealing Christmas from Whoville, with a massive bag hanging off my back 🙂 My problem is I keep thinking of new scenario's and trying to pack/prep for that and eventually I'll run out of money, so I'm calling it good and anything I'm missing, I can pick up along the way. Thanks a ton for all the great videos!
Don't have this store, but at a dollar store one of the best items I seen cheap spray bottles and paper books building up a library is key to not going stir crazy.
Witch hazel is the active ingredient in hemorrhoid meds. Easier, cheaper, and quicker relief to keep a bottle, soak some tissue or a wipe, and apply as needed.
The black heavy duty duct tape is great. Weaker than gorilla but stronger than regular duct tape. The grey duct tape is best used for really light work or arts and crafts.
That's good to know! Sometimes you don't need a super strong tape for most jobs but you kinda want something more effective in a duct tape. I also like the masking tape there, too.
the dollar tree condiments...while, yes, smaller than regular stores....for example, when you open a large jar of mayo...its needing to be refridgerated at one point..the smaller one will likely not go bad because you will use it sooner........
Definitely a good choice if you don't use a lot of condiments and want to use these in the daily routine. I've had to throw out stuff just because I couldn't use it all in time after opening. A smaller bottle or jar is more ideal.
@@Rakerong I agree …. I’ve bought the small containers of salad dressing (name brand) and I also like the containers of refined coconut oil for another cooking fat. Great store !! I had never gone into one until I started watching all these types of videos. Great prepper ideas.
The solar lights are great for camping. Place them next to tent stakes and guy wires so you don't trip during a night time run to the bathroom. They are even good to take into the tent with you as a night light, especially if you have kids along.
We have a goodwill in my city that sells things by the pound and I been able to find so much stuff for prepping at a sweet price so I would recommend that as well of you're in a budget.
If you can catch their pink Himalayan sea salt before it all disappears, GRAB IT! Much cheaper per ounce then almost anywhere else, and it's a good source of some important trace minerals in case SHTF. It's usually course, so keep a grinder on hand, dissolve it in liquid, or use a mortar and pestle.
Definitely a bargain. They contain less plastic particles than other brand salt. Celtic salt and Real Salt brands are better with no plastic particles but this Pink Himalayan salt from the DT is still a good bargain especially when on a budget.
Also from what I've read, pink Himalayan sea salt shouldn't replace table salt just because it lacks iodine in it, so have to keep that in mind and have a good store of both kinds of salt if possible.
I think my favorite item to grab is the pie pans at Dollar tree. Very sturdy and well made. And great for a camp kit as you can cook with them or just eat right from them. Great video!
@@diypreppertv for sure, just came across your page in the last week or so. The content is great, always a nice reminder to check on my preps and inventory
Some Dollar Trees are considered Dollar Tree Plus and they have things that may cost more than one dollar. Most DT's are still only a dollar. So if it says Dollar Tree Plus, be careful but the items should be separated from the $1 items.
The Dollar Trees near me all have cans of Fancyheat, which are the buffet warmer type cans that use alcohol instead of Sterno gel. Look for them in the party supply section. For a dollar these are a steal. These could be a lifesaver and an excellent trade item. Oh, and that Scotts Comfort Plus toilet paper is VERY good tp for the price. It's nothing like the normal Scotts 1000 sheets of sandpaper.
Good vid, you’re right- you have to be careful. I mostly go in for greeting cards 2/$1.00. Still waiting for the “Best Wishes during the Zombie Apocalypse “ cards.
They have alot if things there. Sometimes having things is great. Even if the Meds and things are in small quantities, having a little is better than none, and when on a limited income for sure. Thanks for showing the Variety available
Some of them actually have more than the stuff I see in regular stores. I have a bottle of Advil with like, 20-30 tablets...but they have a no name brand for the same size bottle with 40 tablets.
I've heard about this change in some Dollar Tree stores to include things that cost more than a buck, but thankfully the 3 DT stores in my town still sell everything for one dollar. Sometimes a good deal sometimes not.
It’s actually been really really nice. All the five and three dollar stuff is completely new and different from the one dollar stuff. So everything that was a dollar previously is still a dollar.
Easily there at least once a week. Like the fresh bread, Campbell's Chicken Noodle (no need to add water variety) , Pasta, Shelf stable milk, also the rice cakes. The heavy duty clip magnets (office supplies) are great. I was getting the Idahoan instant mashed potatoes there although I have not found them lately (great stuff). Liquid soap refill sizes are a good deal at a buck. Sure I am forgetting something.
Agree....I have 2 pair of kitchen shears I got there and they are well over a decade old and i use them almost everyday. Pretty much all their kitchen tools are great especially for the $
Feminine hygiene products make good substitute standard dressings for serious wounds….a few shields and an ace bandage….may just hold down the bleeding of a GS wound
Since Dollar Tree is now $1.25, dollar general is a better option for Campbell soups, bandaids...they sometimes have Progresso soups 2 or even 3 for $4. I'm going to Dollar Tree Less and less. Don't forget rubber gloves! You never know what muck we might be dealing with. Also, DT has soil spades and claws for gardening. Pretty good deal. My horses lime the puffed peppermint treats 💕💕
The Dollar Tree store , the Backpackers happy place. Thinking about it , Is a Backpacker a Prepper or Survivalist ? Probably depends on the length and circumstances of the trip , or just one in training. Irregardless the Dollar Tree Store is a fun place.
Here are my choices for Dollar Tree's best priced items for preparedness: butane lighter packs, plastic shower curtains (ground cloth), Gatorade in the reusable sports bottle, pocket size paper tablets or little note books (you may need to leave someone a written message), packs of cheap ink pens (written messages), freeze-dried coffee and tea bags, Suave shampoo, larger size bars of soap, inexpensive cordage (for clothes lines, tarp tents...), packs of clothes pins (to pin lightweight things to wire fences, bushes, etc.) and one-gallon plastic buckets (to carry water to the chicken run or a container garden). And if you are lucky, you could find cotton blend t-shirts in your size for $1 each (good to have an extra t-shirt in the bugout bag).
I agree with Ms. Wright. DT has matches, regular lighters and long neck lighters. Powdered water flavor packs, with and without caffeine. Re-usable closable water bottles in varying sizes. The soups are a tad smaller than grocery cans, and the vegetable cans are often less at grocery stores. But if you stock up with the intention of trading or offering to friends and neighbors in need, its not too bad. A can of chicken, noodles, a can of gravy or stock, and some crackers is an easy meal and doesn't take much time or fuel. You can use the gallon buckets and some large ziplock bags to group items together into meals, as well as hold bottles or containers of water. The t-shirts are good for wearing, medical wrapping or tp, in a pinch.
I do a lot at DT, but I get my lighters at W/M, because I can get them in the big packs and they're a lot less per item. However, I still buy my candle lighters and matches at DT.

I got 2 of their can openers recently. They're better than the $15 Kitchen Aid can opener I've had for a while. Also got a bunch of their candles, sponges, and ramen. A pack of 5 for $1, or a pack of 3 cups for $1. Grabbed a bunch of peroxide and rubbing alcohol. The ones in my area only sell $1 items, though. Nothing above that.
I don't do the rubbing alcohol there, because I only buy the 91%. Since I work at a pharmacy, I just wait until it's on sale. Other than that, I agree :)
I love their organizing bins and pantry organizing containers. Very helpful for organizing supplies. Similiar products run much higher in price at other stores. Also love their jarred garlic and basil pesto. The garlic works great in cooking. They had a large lemon and apple hand soap that is great for kitchen sink side to sanitize hands. Got some great spray bottles that help with growing plants from seed.
