@@flashhonkey9431 Hey, thanks. Yeah, we will be uploading videos here as we go through TAT. Understanding that there's no many areas where we can have internet access, but we will try as much as possible.
Damn 1000 Mile road trip on a 250 cc? I'm guessing you guys didn't take any main highways or anything like that, overall impressed with the bike and your presentation!
most people are reporting it does take about 4 hours on average to put the thing together, and that the 35 dollar Mikuni VM26 Carb 30mm Carburetor makes a huge difference in power.
I have one Hawk 250 as well. The really good performance you will get by shaving the head 1mm, and ...this is important....port up the exhaust port. The exhaust port has a heel, that is covering almost half of the port. Open it up, and you will get 3...if you are lucky...perhaps 4 hp more. The intake is very good, and need only polishing up. Use dremel, and sandtips, and take off the obscuring heel in the exhaust port... Threadlock EVERYTHING...use blue...medium, as you might want to take off the part eventually. red, is permanent, stay away. The bike also responds very well to a high flo exhaust system. Put on x ring chain....the original chain has many different reviews, for some it holds up forever, but for some its short lived....just run out the life span of what you have, you might be the lucky one. Never use alcohol based gas, run non alcohol, high octane...you are not filling up a semi truck with hundreds of gallons, so its well within economic reach to do the best fuel. Change oil often....from an engines perspective, there are no "too many oil changes"... Install a magnet in your oil plug. Aftermarket oil cooling systems are available, I have one ...bought from "AliExpress" that takes oil from the head, and drips the cool oil...right on the hottest spot, on the valvetrain in the head. Aftermarket tachometers can be had, that picks up the signal from the spark wire, the signal wire is wrapped around the sparkplug wire.... The original battery sucks...and is a low quality low life span battery.....get a lithium battery....and save weight. Wrap the exhaust pipe , you will get a sliiiiightbperformance gain, hardly perceptible, but you will increase the cooling of the engine, as a lot of pre heated air coming from in front of the engine will be removed, but mostly, in case you fall and have your leg underneath, you will not get a burn injury on your leg. Exchange the fork oil with 20W. Good luck.
I agree with you. And I did a lot of what you said except head porting part. I haven't done much but regular upgrades that most Hawk owners do. This way it will show what Hawk is capable of doing 🙂
@@choifamilyadventures9638 .....the 1mm shaving of the head....and the removal of the heel in the exhaust port, will probably be your best performance improvement.
i maxed my hawk out at 67mph. If you haven't removed the cat already i would recommend it. I replaced the carb and put in a 110 main jet. 17t sprocket up front. Japanese chain just to be safe. Im going to change out the rear sprocket next. But the Cat removal by far was the biggest upgrade.

We're using Shinko700 tires for on & off roads. Pretty decent tires for the money. About the sprockets, all depending where, and what's your preference is. Currently we are on our Journey to 10k+ miles around American Trails. Had to change sprockets due to altitude changes, uphills etc. As well as jets.
My hawk came in a week ago, its rear shock has preload adjustment and eye to eye length is about 11.7”. A little different from what the information i found online . I need to lower it so I am getting a 1209 lbs 280mm/11” inch shock.
Great video (waaay better than my first....several videos werel, LOL). I've got a lot of interest in Hawks and a few other China-bikes, and just in the last year I've seen a few popping up on local roads for the first time. That Emgo box on your Hawk, I've been using that same box for 3-4 year snow (first on my CRF250L that I no longer own, and now on my CB500X), it's been a great box. Anyways, new Sub here, I look forward to catching up (your old videos) and learning about them (Hawks). If wondering, I saw your link to the channel on the FB Group. Have a great weekend 😊✌
I’m 15 and I’m 5’8 I weigh 160 pounds and I’m purchasing this bike from amazon tomorrow what are some cheaper good mods you would recommend for me and my dad to do first? Also I rode my first dirt bike when I was like 5 but I don’t have the money for a expensive dual sport so do you think this is a good bike for me?
Definitely worth. In fact, we are on 16th day of Trans American Trails. Left from Mid GA and here we are right now in high mountains of Colorado. Cheap modifications you can do is carburetor, sprockets. And all for a fraction of what Japanese bikes would cost.
For that a name brand makes more sense. You can get parts for this bike but would need them ordered. A Honda or Suzuki parts can be found all over in most countries.
@@Random-ed2xf I agree with you. As these bikes are cloned from Japanese bikes, especially from old bulletproof Honda CRF230, patts are everywhere and they're cheap. I'm not protecting these bikes but it's true. Parts are easily found on Ebay, Amazon, and pennies at the dollar. Like you can buy a new engine for $650- 😂

Is there a weight limit on the new spring?

Don't forget to add a better 428 chai, that will add some piece of mind. Good video + mods.

amazon.com sells motorcycles??!!
