  • This was my first time on a track. What a blast! I'm hoping to break 2 minutes!
I am going to use an external mic next time to eliminate wind noise. Front windows down is mandatory on the track.

Getting a M3P soon and I really want to bring it here. I’m worried about charging, though, as I live about 75 miles away, south of Denver. What’s your strategy? Get on the 50 A RV spot? How much can you race before you’re done?

If you get a corded mobile connector, and an RV spot, get there early and charge, it's still worth it. The corded mobile connector gets you a few more amps. I'll get there at open and charge as much as possible. shop.tesla.com/product/corded-mobile-connector

Well done with your lines. I have done over 25 years of instructing on the the race track and offer this advice on you hand position on the steering wheel. Your hands should be fixed at 9 and 3 on the wheel and never move from that grip. You will find that you can turn the wheel 180 degrees in either direction without moving your hands from that grip and you always know were straight ahead is by returning to the home position. You should be able to drive the entire track with that amount of steering. That hand position gives you the maximum leverage on the wheel and your hand position, in your field of vision, gives you feedback on how much steering input you have at any given time. You should be positioned at a distance from the wheel to allow for a slight bend in your elbows. If you are too close your elbows will be in the way and too far away will cause you to reach to far at the top of the wheel. Have fun.

Thanks, I'll take the advice on the positioning next time I head out! I thought it looked and felt a little off.

Hi Charles. What are your mods? I ran a 2:07:9 in my modified Standard Range Plus a few weeks back. I think a sub 2 minute lap time is possible with the right setup on a performance.

That's a great time! The car is bone stock. I think it is of a better time. I need to learn the track a bit more and try another hotlap. Man, I wish they'd put a fast charger out there! I used the RV 50 amp, still slow.

@@CharlesCo918 Yea you gotta charge to 100% at the Denver Supercharger and get to HPR as soon as the gates open to get on the 14-50 before the morning session starts. Early days of EV performance are interesting.
