The car you are driving in the video is my baby girl now. I love her to bits. I previously had another C70 for 12 years that had to be consigned to the great garage in the sky. I cried. I missed Vera Volvo so much I had to source another C70 and it's this one. She is absolutely wonderful. I intend having her for many more years.
@@GeoffBuysCars the only big issue ive had is the steering rack snapped at the mounting points which is a very common issue, cost me about £1200 to have mine removed and refurbished as I searched for a replacement for months but couldn't find one. Drives like a dream now though, steering is alot heavier with alot more feel as it turns out mine was also leaking and losing pressure when steering. Apart from that just general wear and tear!
Such a fine motor car i owned one for 4 years i think its the most comfortable car iv ever owned those seats are pritty special almost healing in a way im surprised there is no heated seats in yours mine use to burn my bum it was that hot lol

have 4x 850's at home and other v70's,s60;s etc, but i was never sure on the c70 conv, liked it with the dark interior. dad had a 2002 silver c70 conv auto t5 with dark leather and the dolby pro logic. loverly on a summers evening with the roof down, but not sure on the chassis, was crashy and bumpy. but agree with you, at todays prices still so much car for the money and usually being a volvo they are looked after.
Agree with your comment about lease cars.. People also forget the end of lease inspections where company charges for repairs but these are never done before sending g them to auction...big con
I had to send my C70 Thelma off the edge in Jan and replaced her with Marilyn, C250 cabriolet full spec automatic, however, top only down in 18 degrees plus! 😉
@@GeoffBuysCars LR Discovery Sport, 38-40 with a careful right foot on my 180 mile round trip commute, seems to me a petrol with worse consumption would be better?

I had a T5 it was great with heated seats and the addition of a windbreaker is a real improvement, nice car handling not so great in bends, good ride though.
The fact you look like Charlie, from "its alwats sunny in Philadelphia" who's my fav character + the first sentence got me hooked lmao. Roof off is mandatory if there's no rain! Everyone knows 😂
I think it has far more to do with what the neighbours will say when it comes to the sheep leasing new cars instead of running something older and infinitely more interesting.
I've started on a 'rust to riches' swapsies journey, having swapped my £1000, clocked Focus St170 with no history (yes I was fully upfront about the fact the mileage doesn't add up) for a £2000 1998 V70 Classic with 91000 miles and full service history. Unfortunately my swapsies journey has already stalled as I have fallen in love with the V70. I will only swap it for a V70 T5, and nobody's doing that swap.
I'm an ex vehicle tech so it's old bangers for me over a crappy PCP deal on a new pile of dross! I've owned my 850 T5 wagon for 8 years and it has cost me peanuts, I offset the MPG because it is remapped etc and a frikkin blast to drive with the monthly cost of a dowdy PCP BMW 1 series POS!

Love my C70! Unfortuantely mine has cost me a ridiculous amount of money to keep running over the years, but adore the 2.3 5 cylinder engine!
Yes the T5s are a bit more costly on maintenance, has anything big gone wrong...?

Just bought myself a 2004 C70 cabriolet Collection Edition and love it maybe a little too much...and I only paid just over 1k with 70k on the clock.
To be fair to the tailgater you did make him arrive 5 seconds late to the back of the next traffic jam.
Great vid and the Volvo is looking fine.

Beautiful car! Does the Mk1 C70 have sufficient legroom and headroom in the back seat for adults? (~6ft / 185cm)
The seats in my C70 were super-comfortable as well - the Swedes sure know how to make a mile muncher.
They really, really do. More on my 850 T5 soon!
Excellent Geoff and the best thing is at petrol prices now it looks better value pence per mile than a 2020 diesel SUV..ask me how I know😢
