I am absolutely sobbing watching this right now. I had my nexplanon removed yesterday. For anyone who needs to validate their symptoms to get it removed: constant nausea, urgent bowel movements, anxiety, sharp abdominal pain, constant chills, losing sleep, depression, brain fog, constant crying. I went to the ER after being so sick and losing electrolytes and no issues at all, had a full blood panel and ultrasound to look at every organ. I spent the last year getting off of every single prescription drug and vice that I had and the implant was the last and final piece to getting over my symptoms

Thank you for sharing. No joke I almost killed myself from having severe anxiety non stop for 3months. Lost 11kg from insomnia and of course losing my appetite 2 weeks at a time. Took it out 3 months ago
I can sleep and eat and the anxiety which was 20/10 in unbearability is now 8/10 on bad days. I'm hopeful in Jesus name I will be completely healed.
I would rather get pregnant than experience the nightmare that has been 2023 for me.

It’s only been three and a half months for me and I’m already noticing all these changes. I thought I was just going through a rough patch in life, but now I realize it’s the birth control. I quit my job, stopped associating with friends, hardly come out my room, have no appetite, etc. Birth control really can send you into a depressive stage. I hate the fact nobody talks about this. It’s hard juggling all this while being a senior in high school.

I didn’t have my period while on this implant and I’m lucky to be in that percentage, but throughout the years, I have been depressed, suicidal, have anxiety, have panic attacks, and I am very emotional on the little things in my life. Like I feel like I have to cry all the time and I gained a lot of weight thinking it was just my depression. It’s been 4 years and I need to take it out soon because it’s almost expired. It was a good run, but I feel like I would be in a much better mood like you than I have been. I am scared to take it out because I hate needles or anything to do with the doctors, but I also feel like I need to do this. I was so excited to try Nexplanon after hearing one of my friends experiences with it… so I had it implanted August 2020. It took me until this past September 2021 to REALIZE the massive changes in my mental, physical, emotional and sexual health taking a toll on me. I bled so often in the 14 months I had Nexplanon, it killed my libido, I gained weight that I kept off for 8+ years, cystic acne all over my face especially my jawline and cheeks, lethargy, extreme decreased excitement for life, mood swings galore, I requested evaluation for bipolar disorder(before connecting the dots), and pretty much everything you already listed. I THANKFULLY followed through with removing that little demon rod yesterday! The doctor tried said we need to do a pap in order to remove it, I was in tears saying I refuse to undress(I was in extreme distress and self consciousness of my body and the bleeding), pretty much begging to just remove the damn implant. Now I’m in the rabbit hole hearing other womens stories. Thank you so very much for this video, I don’t feel as crazy anymore! I can’t wait for my body to get back into its natural rhythm I am SO relieved 💩

This video has hit very close to home, thank you for taking the time to outline changes you've noticed with the nexplanon, I've been feeling progressively worse over the last 6 months since getting it in September 2021... and here I thought I was slowly going bonkers, literally every symptom you have noted is matching mine too. Only reason I stumbled across the thought maybe it was the birth control was because on my home from work the other night I saw a power pole and the thought crossed my mind to drive into it and this is truly a horrifying thought especially when it comes out of nowhere. But mood changes and apathy is totally going on with 10kg weight gain for me in the last 3 months. Not good at all for self image when previously being more athletic in nature! Cheers heaps for your video I'll be making an appointment with a GP to get this devils rod out of me :)

I had mine removed yesterday and of course I’m still bleeding BUT now that it’s out I know it’ll eventually stop. I’ll never look back on nexplanon. I’m glad you got it out before it was too late. Omg... I am getting mine removed tomorrow. I am so happy. My daughter was born March 2019 and I got mine put in May 2019. It made my acne worse and my hair was shedding more. It’s like nothing I do will help me loose weight since having my baby and she’s 18 months now. My arm itches sometimes where it was put in. I feel so insecure and I don’t take pictures like I use to. Also I have had digestive problems like colitis since I got it. Also lost my sex drive and it’s affecting my marriage as well as the short temper and depression. I never smile anymore. Now I know it’s the birth control. This is my 3rd time having this birth control and it never did anything before maybe they changed the medicine. I am so happy to be having it removed tomorrow. Thank you for this video it really helped me to know that someone else experienced some of the same symptoms from the Nexplanon. Now I don’t feel so alone 🙂

I'm currently going through all the emotions, I've had the implant in for 1 year and 3 months and I've never felt this bad before, these past few months the bleeding is getting worse, I'm constantly spotting now. No sex drive, no motivation, and my sleep isn't right, too. Now gaining weight. I really can't wait to get it out of me. Thank you for doing this because it made me realise I'm not going insane.

I know that it works differently for everyone, but for myself, it wasn’t a good choice. My cycle was totally off (one cycle would be light 3 days then a week later I’d get it again and this time it would be heavy for almost 2 weeks!) definitely had MAJOR fatigue, occasional insomnia, no depression but my social anxiety skyrocketed (COVID didn’t help, I literally got it around the time the pandemic started,) a huge amount of weight gain (I was around 160 when I got it 3 years ago, I’m 210 now, and believe me I’ve tried to loose it), I had very low motivation to get back into fitness after weightlifting for like 4 yrs, I think it might have even contributed to making my migraines worse. I honestly never gave it a thought, never did I think the nexplenon was causing everything, but when I realized it was almost time to get it removed, it all clicked, and I knew I did NOT want to replace it. It’s only been a little over 24hrs since I had it removed, I don’t feel a difference yet, but I’m looking forward to making some changes, getting my health back into gear is my number 1 goal.

I can completely relate!!! I got mine 2 months before my wedding in August 2019. The first two months (June 2019) I spotted then had two heavy periods for about 10-15 days out of the month for only two months. By the 3rd month my period was completely gone. I had been on Nexplanon for 17 months. On month 16 I finally had a 4 day light period. During these 17 months once in a while I experienced very light cramping, which I thought maybe my period was coming on. But nope, no period. Guess having no period for some may be considered a plus. I didn't mind the missing period. I did however mind how gradually I gained weight (in 3 months from June to Sept. I gained 15 lbs). I also felt anxious, nervous, experienced anxiety, heart palpitations, heavy breathing, dizziness, nauseousness, at times vomiting, a constant sore throat, constantly having UTIs, vaginal dryness, numbness of arms (light tingling in fingers), light flaky peeling skin on feet and hands, increased candida infection, insomnia (sleeping about 3 hrs/day), and a small change in eyesight. I could deal with all the aforementioned and would have probably stayed on it until it ran it's course. But what really made me take it out was the massive change in my mood. For no reason I bad mood swings. One moment I was happy, then irritated, then a rage would come over me. But what took the cake was the depression and to add insult to injury the suicidal thoughts. The depression was soooo subtle and accompanied with constant suicidal thoughts. Constant, constant suicidal thoughts! Not to mention the lack of motivation, feelings of hopelessness, and not caring about anyone or anything in life, feeling numb inside. If I died, it didn't matter. It was at this point I said enough is enough. Today I finally took it out!!! It took two weeks for me "convince" myself and motivate myself to make the decision to remove this out of me. I'm grateful I have removed it.
It was hilarious that when I was explaining to the doctor my symptoms he said that he's never heard of anyone going through what I described and I'm the first person he's heard that from, and to me it seem like I was making it up. I felt like telling him to look at Nexplanon's website cause all the side effects I mentioned are on their website, including suicidal thoughts. I wish I had looked at the side effects before putting this thing in me. But I'm glad I finally put the pieces together. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews and discovered that many women have experienced what I experienced. Thanks to their stories I was able to identify that Nexplanon was the cause of my symptoms these last 17 months. Now I hope that in a few weeks I'll be back to my old self. This is just my story that I want to share in case any other woman out there is going through what I went through while on Nexoplan.

Though it’s a scary story, it is one that needs to be told and I appreciate you for sharing with us here. Though I have much love and respect for the medical field - a field I will prayerfully next joining soon - it still baffles/scares me how much physicians ignore the cries of their patients. This is so sad but true. When I decided to quit my birth control, I explained to my ob everything I had experienced while on bc. She literally said the exact thing and made me feel like I was in the wrong for voicing my side effects and symptoms related to my bc. My skin began to flare up dramatically, I experienced bouts of depression like never before, had irregular cycles (something I’ve been used to all my life), however, the continuous spotting was a complete nightmare, experienced frequent vaginal infections which I never EVER experienced before starting bc, and suffered from low sex drive. I am currently on the nexplanon and have had it for the past 4-5 months. I’m currently dealing with severe emotional distress, frequent crying spells, and endless feelings of hopelessness. I’m hoping for better times, but it’s really great to know that I’m not alone through this. If things don’t look better, I am planning on removing this thing!!! 😖

I got it 3 weeks ago. For a week now, I’ve been crying randomly everyday and I feel extremely anxious. Heart rate has also been way up. I started it to stop my long period cycles and cramps. I was encouraged to keep it in for the 3 month trial period despite immediately having an allergic reaction a day after insertion that made my whole arm swell up, heavy bleeding nonstop, cramps that caused nausea, horrible mood swings (but I was mostly in a horrible mood 24/7) and a medication of mine that I need to take stopped working. I was told “your body will adjust just give it time!” And I actually lost weight from the nausea and my skin got horrible (I’d never had bad acne before). Needless to say I NEVER adjusted and spent three months in agony. I went to my OBGYN again and she immediately told me to have it removed and a few minutes later it was gone. I immediately felt so much better, and I don’t have to worry about it slowly disappearing into my arm and ending up in my heart. I’m NEVER EVER going to get the implant again.
