I couldn't take it any more so I *pretended* to be all official. Went over flashed my VA card and said I'll vouch for him. I agree with you. My wife works in health care and feels the same way about scrubs even. She rarely would be seen in public in them unless absolutely necessary. A uniform is a tool for work. It's not an outfit used to look fresh, or to be special. In our opinion, it's prideful. Never use a choice you made to feel special, or above in comparison to others. Any uniform that holds value to our society is an honor to put on. It should not be abused. It's what you do, not who you are. Wear it to serve, not to be served. Different reasoning I guess, but that's my a hole opinion.

    I've learned Marines are pretty serious about the uniform policy. It was explained that it would make them a target. My son(Marine) is getting ready to leave for his next location and cannot travel in his uniform but he has to check in uniformed.
    The air national guard near me will wear their uniforms out & about. We've seen uniformed Army out in public. Maybe their policies aren't as strict.

    I got to wear my cammies out in town in a Japanese hospital. I was a duty driver and had to rotate buddy watches for some guy having surgery . Every 6 hrs I had to drive another guy out there, walk into the hospital and show them where the guy was and grabbed the guy that was there and drove him back to base. I even snuck into a bar on the way back one night to say hey to a beautiful Filipina i was seeing...lol. Of course I poked my head in first to see if the coast was clear, only stayed for 30 seconds...lol. It was still early so the bar was empty, only a couple of japanese customers.

I try to change before going places, but honestly sometimes I have to head out in uniform in order to grab something real quick before the establishment closes (sometimes a place will close within 15-30 mins of me being off duty). It just depends on the location where you are stationed at....

    After I graduated boot camp I was proud to wear to my blues out in public. Especially when I was at the airport and people came up to me to thank me for my service. Then I had a guy helped me carry my luggage because I was a bit lost and didn't know how to read airport traffic signs. Once I got to my destination the guy immediately demanded payment. Then had the adacity to ask for a large tip. I thought he was being nice this whole time. Yes, this is at the San Diego airport.
    From that point on I knew exactly what my drill instructors meant by people will target you when in uniform. So I never did it again.

    Oh man do I got one for you. I’m a Marine as well so I’m very familiar with no utilities off base. Anyways there was this sergeant who was an armory Marine (he’s out now) who took the train from his residence off base right to the town part of base. Mind you that it is a civilian train, that literally left from off base to get him to work. He literally got out of his car, and got a ticket and hopped on the train, in cammies the ENTIRE time. Of course he’s not the only Marine who takes the train because the area I’m at has bad traffic (if you’ve ever been stationed here, you know already where I’m talking about but I’m gonna leave that out ofc). Well sure enough, the base commander was on the train and it’s the ONLY Marine base in the area so he knew it was one of “his” Marines. Let’s just say that same Sgt gave every shop in the unit to include the CO and SgtMaj a class on P1020.34H as well as in depth of leave and liberty uniforms, etc 😂

    I mean if they're authorized to wear their camo off base, I can see why they would want to for convenience but I agree with why not just changing over to something more comfortable and not painting yourself as a target. A friend and I both enlisted into military after high school (he went army I went usmc) and we both finished boot around Christmas so we both had recruiters assistance and so we decided to meet up. I came wearing regular clothes and he pulls up in his ACUs. I ask him why and he simply said "because I can". (to this day he still wears his camo off base, he's an E6 now). Just difference in branches I guess 🤷
    Also from my personal experience in seeing people wearing cammies off base, sometimes most of them aren't even in service

    Only time I can reasonably justify being in utility uniform or dress outside of official business, at least in other branches, is if you're stopping somewhere on the way to/from work. Us Marines don't really get to do that, but I understand it if it's just a matter of convenience.

I really love wearing my dress uniform. I like to wear it when I go home and to look my sharpest while I see my family. I def don't look stupid in my dress uniform i'll tell you that.

  • @XxWoWglitchesxX
    @XxWoWglitchesxX Рік тому

    just want to preface this by saying I love your videos. But I have a different opinion on this.
    As far as I understand the USMC is very strict on wearing the uniform off post, off duty, per regs. Im in the Army, and the only thing the regs mention (Not including formal events), just everyday wear is to not wear it in a place thats primary business is selling alcohol. So when I wake up at 0500 or so to get to PT by 0630, and then im at work until 1730/1800 and have to drive bare minimum, 30 minutes to get home if there's no traffic..... For me I'd much rather just run into Publix, get in, get out. Or pick up my food, get something from the gas station etc etc etc. I hate the idea of driving all the way home just to change and then go out and pick up dog food from the pet store or something along those lines.
    Yeah, if I intend on hanging out somewhere or being out and about for an extended amount of time, id go home, shower, and change. But with the long work days and damn near 50 miles between the place of duty and where im stationed every day... I would much rather get what I need on my way home instead of the other option. I've never once stepped outside of my house wearing the uniform with the intent to get praise from anybody. When my day is already roughly 14 hours or so long I really dont want to add an extra hour to that because Im worried about stepping in a store for less than 5 minutes being out.
    Making yourself a targert, I can understand that one. I would argue people will still know youre military but to be fair; in camo youre alot easier to be seen from a distance and obviously there'd be no question youre a Service Member. I'll stick with you on that portion of it.
    I know this video is old, not sure if you'll see this but I would like to know your thoughts on what I said here.
