The best pitch I ever heard was from my buddy in the Corps. He told me “I get paid to shoot guns, workout all day, travel the world with my best friends, and i get free education and medical”
Now I’m not naive, I obviously know there’s a lot more to it then that. At the end of the day, it’s still a very tough job but there’s nothing else i’d rather do

You can choose duty locations with some jobs and Germany/Italy/Hawaii can be options. Living in Germany for 3+ years will allow far more travel than any other branch.

I would like to see a video explaining the enlisted commissioning programs, particularly MECEP. There are only a couple videos out there that touch on MECEP.
Some questions I have are: What does the application process look like and how can my application stand out? What do you do while in the program? What happens during the MECEP preparatory school? If I apply and get accepted at the age of 29 with an age waiver, is there also an age waiver to graduate college after 4 years while in NROTC?
When I enlist soon, I would have already completed a couple years of college but have not yet earned a degree. So I plan on applying for MECEP to join a college with an NROTC program and eventually commission. I will need an age waiver to apply by then (am currently 24).
From what I understand, and I could be completely wrong, you go straight to OCS before going to an NROTC unit at the college you got into. If you do not pass, you are sent back to the fleet. If you do pass, then you go to college, commission upon gradating, go to TBS, and so on. I always get confused of what the pathway after MECEP is.
Then there is also obligated service upon acceptance to MECEP, which I am also confused about. Do I need to complete those extra years while I am still enlisted before going to college, or are those added onto your obligated service years as an officer?
I will definitely be discussing this with my recruiter.
If I do not get into the MECEP program (anything can happen, and from what I heard it is a very competitive program), I will still go to a college with one of the GI bills (Post 9-11 and Montgomery, just need to understand the difference between the two) and commission through OCS before graduating. Hopefully I would still be able to get some kind of training throughout college if I speak with an officer selection officer.

It seems that OSO’s on the officer side have been pushing guys to go enlisted first then transition to officer after Bootcamp and secondary school. Is this for any particular reason?
Also, I’d love to hear more about why someone shouldn’t pursue the officer route. I have an OSO, but love to hear a different perspective.

Here's a shocker for you In the army Rangers once you make it into the military asphalt and you pass and you make it through the a** fab phase and you go through with. It in the army Rangers it used to be 200 million something now it's back in 2015 but here's a budget cut loss that you'd be. Surprised about only 56 grand per Army Ranger. *If they send you to a deployment you will know other ¨countries¨ but:*
= You go to work from 12 to 18 hrs from Monday to Sunday unlike those of the Navy who give them Sunday off
= You will sleep in a small bed, where you will hardly be able to move in a very small space (amphibious boat) sharing the bathroom with more than 60 Marines
= You will eat sometimes only two meals a day
= When you arrive at a port and they give you permission to get off for a few days, you will be responsible for paying the hotel and other personal expenses.
Please if you really want to be a Marine do it, otherwise don't! because in this military branch is where more is demanded.
