    A car with not a lot of torque won’t take off as easily without using the gas pedal. You can do it with most cars. It’s really just finding the clutch’s sweet spot. But a car with sufficient torque will make takeoffs easy when giving it little to no gas at all. Great video man. Great explanations!

    How do you make turns in a manual car? When should you switch gears? When should you down shift? Do you have to shift all the way back down to 1st gear before you stop at a stop sign? Is it possible to stall a moving car?

    • @plumbingstuffinoregon2471
      @plumbingstuffinoregon2471 3 роки тому +11

      If you can turn with one hand it should be no problem shifting as you turn, or if you want you can shift after you turn. Downshifting is just like upshifting, but in reverse. When I come to a stop I push in the clutch and hit the brakes, then put it into 1st or 2nd gear after I stop. I drive an old truck with a super low 1st gear, so I don't need it unless I'm hauling stuff. And it's extremely rare to stall once moving, but it can happen if you're not careful.

    • @abababa3542
      @abababa3542 3 роки тому +17

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 3 роки тому +7

      Its easy man dont overthink it. You downshift just like you upshift say you're moving along 45 mph in 4th gear...you have to slow down to 25-30...you move up to 3rd or down to 2nd depending on the speed you're going and how the car is geared every car is different it just takes a little seat time and eventually you will know exactly what gear you need to be in at what speed etc. If you're driving spirited in mountains or on track it's best to rev match down shift before you go into the curve it helps to slow you down making it easier on your brakes and makes sure you're in the correct gear coming out of the turn so you can have max acceleration if that makes any sense. Dont overthink driving a manual. Just learn how to get the car moving and practice moving up and down the gearbox even while stopped the rest will come to you with seat time. It's just like an auto but.you gotta shift the gears instead of them being shifted for you.

    My idea of a car from a young age is driving a manual, like racing games, movies, and even in my dreams. Btw I'm 19 and just got my first car and my first time an a manual; couldn't be happier ;).

    I get bored driving AT, and I feel like my right arm and left foot is paralyzed. Driving manual is so much fun and it kinda makes you focus more and drive safer too.

    Mmm I’ve been told to release clutch slower than what I am (about a 2 second release) when I’m going from like 3 to 4. But do you think it may be either not enough revs or letting out the last tiny bit too quick? I feel like I’m doing it too slow.

    Another tip is dont forget to let off the gas when you push the clutch it your clutch is neutral so you will just over rev your engine with no load on it

    Picking up a standard BRZ tomorrow, I’m excited. I’m assuming I do the same shift timing as you at 3-3500 rpm’s
