- Reviewing the Kraftwerks supercharged Civic Si. Driving impressions and after the replacing the Rotrex Supercharger after only 12k miles of use, is the kit really worth it?
Supercharger replacement: • Rotrex Kraftwerks Supe... - Авто та транспорт
Hey guys, check out the link in the description if you haven't seen the Rotrex Supercharger replacement video on this car! Thanks for watching!
nice vid with great commentary. Gotta like that very linear power delivery. hope my replacement lasts as long, or longer, than my current one did. Went 60k miles and 5 years on it (mostly average demand on kit) before it started whining and breaking down.
A lot better than the 12k this one did!
Honda’s FTW!!! Also, thanks for helping me pick out that Magnaflow muffler for my Si. It really has a much better sound than the other muffler.
headcharge666 Yeah! I've always liked those magnaflows!
Looks pretty quick!!!!
The only time these kits are unreliable is when you hit the Rev limiter. If you have something like launch control or if you hit the limiter too much, that'll snap the shaft. If you don't hit the Rev limiter, they last quite a while.
I can tell you the owner of this car didnt do that much at all. But I have heard that. I'd be sure it speeds up the issue.
What number of boost thats run on the redline making 340hp??
Btw does it run on stock piston, rod?? Stock CR??
Badrul 10 psi, & its a bolt on for the stock motor
He is correct
Ramiro Pinon dang lol
I have a dc5 type r and was thinking of upgrading with the rotrex SC..... reason being I am only aiming for around 300+hp thats dependable. And I did my research and heard that this particular brand is the quietest one (minimal whinning sound) your video has me thinking twice now. Can u make any recommendations for what I am looking for?
What you should be doing is an N/A K24 build. Plenty of K series builds making 300whp with off the shelf parts on pump gas. N/A power is awesome.
Hey whats up. I have a stage one exedy clutch with lightweight flywheel. If I ever did supercharge my SI would you say itd be smart to go with the stage 2 or just keep my stage 1 and run it.
Sevekor1 from my past experience it can be hit or miss with the stage1 stuff. I would for sure recommend going with the stage 2 to be safe.
how many mile did it have when u installed the kraftwerks, and how many does it have now? still alive?
Not my car so I dont know exact numbers. But yes its still alive. The engines will handle a lot of power even stock. The supercharger itself is far less reliable than the engine.
do you need to relocate your intake or something? is it bad if you run supercharge with short air intake? me noob lol
Of course you have to relocate the intake. It goes on the front of the blower now instead of your throttle body. You can run a short air intake if you'd like. Just remember you lose approx. 1% horsepower for every 11 degrees warmer your intake air is.
Did it have a header if so which one?
I believe skunk2 alpha.
Rotrex is nice but cte/tvs is where all the down low power will be as far as superchargers go
Not familiar with those. But yeah, still not a huge fan of the Rotrex after this whole experience.
@@thatracinglife how come? is it really bad? I plan on supercharge my si too. I heard some say KW SC good and some say no
@@Yachiruxunohana People who say they are good probably never owned one or don't have the Si kit that is prone to these failures. The lack of torque and unreliability make it a poor choice in my opinion. Turbo chargers can go hundreds of thousands of miles and make more power and tq. As long as you aren't fighting heat issues (civics are not prone to overheating oil or water) then turbo is a better way to go vs centrifugal blowers.
I feel that turbos are more unreliable than S/C. Yes you get more power but engine life is greatly reduced without supporting mods. That Kwerks kit is a direct bolt-on which means you don’t have to make any internal engine mods. Also, boost is instant...you don’t have to wait for the turbo to spool up.
Ron Generoso this has a linear boost curve. Almost none at low rpm and 10 psi at redline. This isn't a roots and doesn't work like one. Turbos are plenty reliable if done properly. Turbo diesel trucks go million miles on turbos all the time. I've personally had turbo cars that have done over 300k miles on its original turbo. The k series have been known to make in the 600whp range on stock internals too. Not really an issue there either.
what clutch and motor mounts you using?
I believe he had an exedy upgrade for the clutch. I forget which "stage" but I think it was a fairly mild one. Motor mounts are stock.
@@thatracinglife thanks for the reply, I appreciate it haha. Aren't stock mounts a bad idea for 350-400 hp? or can you get away with it if you're not launching the car or anything
@@thatracinglife and wow I'm surprised the clutch held up lol
It depends how you drive. For a daily its fine. If you're going to the track a lot, a mount upgrade is a good idea. The supercharger doesnt make tons of torque so it doesnt abuse the clutch too bad.
This have this car? How the new rotrex holding up?
Still going strong for now!
1 year later how bout now still holding?
How many mpg do you get?
Depends on the tune really. But it's pretty close to stock.
Stock header and exhaust?
It does have a Skunk2 Alpha header and a small Apexi Noir exhaust to keep things quiet. Thanks for watching!
Do u mind me asking what state u live in?

@@thatracinglife did he arrest you yet?
@@KraziestKrazy ?
@@thatracinglife when you pull, race, (or even track your car) you gotta tell people it was filmed in mexico bro lol 🤦♂️
@@KraziestKrazy Filmed on a closed course with professional driver.....
Ecu stock??
Hondata tuned by King Motorsports
Can you tell me the mpg You get with the kit ??... Much worse from stock ?
I don't have exact numbers. But its not too far from stock.
Heavy car??
M Sal89 compared to say an EF? Or EG?
M Sal89 those are around 1000 lbs lighter if you can believe it!
Did you really just call it a heavy FWD car? Shows what you know lol
Really??? lets do some math. 2009 civic is around 2900lbs give or take. 89-91 civic si is around 2200lbs. 92-95 civic is around 2300lbs. 600 to 700 lbs MORE IN THE 8TH GENERATION. Are you really that bad at math? 700+lbs is approaching HALF A TON difference..... That would be 30+ percent more weight.
They are the heaviest of the civics, so yes. Even a couple hundred pounds heavier then my ep3, so shows what u know
That Racing Life 2900 pounds isn't heavy. Where in my comment did I compare it to the older Civics? No shit it's heavier than those come on man you're stating the obvious.
@@christopherrogers8316 And where in my comment did I compare it to other civics? Reading comprehension can be tough, I understand.
@@icelover3 for a "heavy fwd car" your comparing fwd cars. You already lost this statement , stop lol
