Glad I could tune into this Grom build. I almost cam't believe how far it's come.
I feel like even a 1hp i crease on a Grom feels like a huge change. Specially considering how low it starts off with.
Yeah like his bud said that’s a 10% increase on a grom
Specially? Really, dude?
@@POOKIE5592yep. It's especially's cooler cousin
@@POOKIE5592 not that deep, dude.
Thanks for the pro tips and mods. Great to see its running smoothly. 🔥💪
Might have to add these to the list of winter mods for the Grom. Having owned a Harley previously it's refreshing how affordable mods are for this bike.
It’s good to see a Harley rider converted into a motorcyclist, proud of you bro.
I did the same, i dont dread buying parts and now look forward to installing them
The performance upgrades are dope and it sounds AWESOME.
the mini drag races look hilariously fun!!!!
Hey you guys are riding around my neck of the woods, just picked up a '22 SP.
The mini Max Trax and Rotopax jerry can kills me every time 🤣
The machine looks nice
Love the look
I feel like pjs are the perfect outfit when riding a grom
Looks like you woke it up some, thanks for the review
Just knowing u can mod the grom to make it go faster makes me wanna get it even more!
You can mod anything to make it faster lol
Those tiny maxtrax are a nice touch!
"finding neutral on the grom is like winning a lottery" - I thought it was just me :-)
Looks like a significant difference to me, thanks for the comparison!
Of course! Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Dang you guys were cruising through my neighborhood. I never see groms out in Parker.
very cool grom build!
Sik grom dude, well done.
Where did you get the black faring retaining washers?
Moar powah is never a bad thing 🙌🤘🤙
Need to get one of these!
I love my 2022 Grom. I too did DHM tune with chimera intake set up. Over winter I plan on doing the cam.
How does it feel with intake/exhaust/tune vs stock? Like acceleration and top speed I'm keen on doing it!
@@ReeceCoza it feels a lot more responsive and definitely noticeable difference. Top speed is increased for sure. Downhill I saw 80mph but that most likely wasn't spot on but can say I was moving.
@@89foxguy that's fantastic! I presume hitting the 50-60mph much easier now?
@@ReeceCoza definitely gets up there easier. Highly recommend 👌
@@89foxguy wonderful! Got intake on the way then I'll order cam and tune!
I live in Boulder county and want to get a grom for next summer. I forgot about these bikes. I was riding my Coleman ct200u around with my son and Seen a grom. He looked at us how people look at people on groms. Like oh that's cute.
Good video looks like a lot of fun!
Cool upgrades. You moved to Colorado? I know you used live PA just from being long term sub.
cam install video would be awesome!
Two of my friends have groms and they keep persuading me to get one but i got too many hobbies already!
That’s crazy! I used to live in those townhomes right off tower!
Never knew you were in Co!
So I want a grom, been thinking about getting one. and was watching this video . Then I notice that you are in the parking lot to my work. Where did you pick your grom up from? Did you have to ordered it?
You shouldn't need premium gas, unless you're running higher compression piston. Mid-grade should be fine. When you did the reflash, was there an option to raise the RPM limit? I know there was an option on the previous gen Grom/Monkey and I raised mine to 9750. Block tires are going to be sketchy at higher speeds. Changing the front sprocket down will give you better acceleration and the cost of top speed.
I’ve gotta know how you mounted that rotopax on your grom! And what size that fuel tank from them is!
You need to go 1 tooth bigger in the rear because in 5th gear its stopping at 8,000RPM. If you go +1 in the rear you will be able to rev out 5th gear more resulting in higher top end and also a little bit for quickness through all the gears. Best of both worlds plus you will be able to use those leftover RPM from 5th gear!
I have stage 3. How big of a sprocket on front and back
are groms worth it i have a 650 stunt bike right now and was thinking about grabbing one
@@BIGRENZY yes
@@antonithegoat4216 would it be worth it in united kingdom? bad roads and stuff but grom might be fun
Great BIKE once entirely run In no doubt It will ride even better, myself I am looking for such a bike, but stupid UK laws mean I have to check first & foremost, many thanks for the Infomation, keep up the great work, It's most appreciated!
In the UK I believe it's called a Honda MSX 125
Sounds is way better. Actually had a little growl to it!
Great channel! Can you get a big bore kit?
This kinda seems like my experience with my 2019 Grom. After doing stage 1 (exhaust, air box, ECU flash) it didn't add as much top end as I'd hoped but it made the bike alot quicker to redline which was really all it needed to make it perfect for marauding around the city
On the last gen 2018-2021 Groms the best (bang for the buck) mods are intake, exhaust, TB cam, and ECU reflash with RPM raised to 10,000. You should see at least 3 HP increase. Going down to 14 tooth front sprocket will give you better acceleration at the cost of top speed. I easily reached mid 70's on my 21 Monkey. Things can get sketchy on the stock tires, so be careful at speeds over 64.
@@rrazote2279 is 10k rpm safe for stock heads n valves etc?
@@charliesmith874 From the forums, to other Monkey/Grom owners, I've been told up to 10k RPM is fine. Past that and there's a chance of the valves floating. There's a valve kit you can buy for under $100 that can fix that problem, but at 9750 that engine is screaming, so I dont know that anyone would want to push the engine past 12k (that's the limit I've heard people set the RPM with the valve kit). You'll definitely want to use top grade oil and change sooner. I used Motul and changed every 2000-2500 miles. Heat can kill these little engines fast, so I would recommend an oil cooler and oil pump upgrade.
@@rrazote2279 ah right cheers mate, hopefully getting a grom next month so yeah just looking into my options to squeeze a few more horsepower out of it haha
I am thinking about selling my R6 and getting a Grom, mostly for the mpg and you can take them off road. Wish I could ride one first to see if I would like it before I go and get one.
lol I actually ended up having mine 300 swapped. The difference is unreal!
I was like this looks really familiar and then he said a beautiful day in Colorado and I was like ohhhhh. Hello neighbor
Do u know if the procircuit exhaust made for the 2nd gen would fit on this new model?
Now add a DHM high compression piston, and have it ported and tune and try it
Did you have a full tuckk or straight up while in the speed test
Your mic sounds great, what are you using to talk to each other , thanks
They are using their mouths
Nice mods. Have you noticed any difference in fuel economy? Will the cam hasten engine wear? I am looking for 2023 Grom right now. I am 75 so the Grom is about my speed.
with greater performance comes with a loss of fuel economy, but the economy is so good the begin with that it doesn’t make much of a difference, you lose 10-20 miles of range maximum
I gained mpg with intake exhaust and tune. I dont have to ride it as hard to get up to speed so that helps
I have the same brute exhaust. Any tips on the exhaust wrap?
I’m moving to Colorado here real soon I guess they don’t mess with bikes with loud exhaust ???
What pro taper bars are you running ?
Where in Colorado are you at? Looking for some grom people to ride with. In greeleey here
Did you feel like it's flat up until about 6krpm then it opens up with the stage 2 kit, that's how I feel with mine
Bout to get the intake cam and flash for my 19 monkey with a yoshi exhaust. Sounds like a dirt bike now lol
Do you know which brake light strobe module Will is running?
Do you live in colorado now? What happened to pennsylvania?
Can dhm have afterpay/zippay might be a Australian thing. And have cheaper postage. It cost me like $100 postage from America to Australia. I don't understand for a a cam, ecu, intake ect. Tiny little things.
Awww a lil grom grom cute ..lol ..that cam doe
Honda needs to make a 250cc grom.
i see u in colorado would be dope to ride sometime!
What pro taper bars do you have on your grom? Looking to put them on mine but don’t know which ones to get thanks!
www.seiproductions.com/seigarage
Do you still have the grom with dumb cam mod till this day? Has it held up
Did u change the sprocket size yet? Curious what the top speed is with GPS?
I have not
How did the mods affect your fuel economy? Honestly curious. Thinking about getting a Grom, and don't know if performance mods are going to be on the roster.
Even if the mods do effect it, I wouldn’t worry too much. Gross have great mpg and they only cost like 6 bucks to fill up.
3 dollars last for 2 days
@@benmcbride7269 woaaaaa
It only holds a gallon
@@bubba9046 1.6
I’m stock with intake and exhaust and I top out 75mph and that’s without tune or cam and I redline at 10rpm… I’m not sure if should even get a tune or cam at this point 🤔
Looks cool
Would the tune work with different intakes?
Might be a stupid question but I have a clone can you do all those changes on a clone? Like the ecu flash? How’d you do that?
I have no idea when it comes to clones
Gixxers, ZX's and Pana's are quivering in fear because you're definitely coming after them.
1.5sec 60ft and sub 10sec 1/4 are in your future....
Cutest race suit ever!
Do a big bore kit
Are you guys in Vegas
What tires are you using
You should try speed on gps
Bro forget the bike, what kind of Mic are you using😅... I need that Mic
Can you run a mid fairing with that intake?
Pro tip with the Chimera intake: if you get the 3” inlet SPECTRE performance filter, it fits perfectly over the included filter with the chimera. Just use a hacksaw, some super glue, and three little stainless wood screws to fit the big filter over the outlet portion of the little one.
It’s ridiculous looking, and ridiculously fast! :)
Another thing, the SPECTRE filter has a built-in velocity stack, which makes it faster-flowing than a straight pipe, while giving the filtration you need.
You may have to clock the intake in a slightly different position depending on what your fairings allow.
Those are cool
Has anybody checked gps speed vs speedometer? I can hit 70 on the speedo but its 58 on gps. Really disheartening lol
Lol crazy I live in colorado and looking to get my first groom
How about better valve springs
next time, zip tie your cam chain to the sprocket
Which ProTapers are those?
So after break in I can do 70+ on highway cruising. Top speed hit was 81 on limiter. I'm stock still. I want to do your upgrades.
How did you accomplish 70+ cruising...?
Me: why can’t I go over 68. Also me: 250 lbs.
What’s the highest you’ve gotten, I’m about 245lbs and I want to get a grom
@@jacobinfante375 im about 230-235 lbs and went about 58-59 mph on an even road full tuck. With the first gen
My 6'3"- 190 lb son has an old 4spd Grom. He could go faster in 3rd than he could in 4th! So, he got a new drive sprocket that's 1 tooth smaller, and WOW! His Grom will now do 64 on the flat and 69 with a tailwind! I got to ride it and 69 on a Grom is lotsa fun!
Is that standard apart from the gearing change?
@@mikey_bb He has, glass pak exhaust and accsy air cleaner... Otherwise, stock engine,
Do you think if you had less knobby tires, you’d go a little faster on roads?
Absolutely, street tires are worth a few MPH easily, not just because of being smooth, but also because they weigh a bit less. 71mph on knobbies is pretty legit!
Maybe a mile or 2 faster
@@TalonSei What tires do you guys have ?
Kenda big blocks
I noticed no difference (in top speed) between the Kenda 761 (50/50) and Maxxis M6024 (knobbies), so I put the Maxxis back on because it was more planted in gravel. Maybe there's more difference between real street tires, like Power Pures and knobbies.
hey talon which sprockets you runnin?
Stock for now
I bought this for MPG, how badly did this affect yours? Did you do a before and after?
Idk before but today I was getting 117.5mpg
@@TalonSei Nice, maybe some power adding wouldn't be as bad as previously thought.
@@TalonSei My completely stock Grom shows 141.2 mpg. That's a pretty good decrease, but imo, well worth it.🤙
Knobby tires take down the mpg more than anything.
Just did the first oil change on my stock 2022 Grom. 541 miles with an average 169.7 mpg. Top speed is about 57mph. Bought it to take in my van when I go camping. If I have a need for speed I will get on my R1. It gets around 38mpg and will easily go 170+.
Watching further, 300CC kit/motor???!!
What’s the base top speed
I did the same mods to mine and mine doesn’t go faster then 67 going down hill.. I feel like it is off by just a little bit to get the full potential.. any suggestions ?
My 4spd grom was able to hit 73mph with just sprocket swap
What stage cam and piston
what have you seen as far as MPG with these mods.. thanks
Still in the 100s
I do 62mpg 😂
Any noticeable change to fuel mileage?
Not yet
What was your top speed before the upgrade on parts?
My 2022 stock Grom tops out at around 60mph, wide open, flat surface with me lying down forward.
Time to add the Antigravity Battery and drop some weight!
I’m in! Shoot me a message 🤘🏼
I'll take one!
Recommendation for a helmet?
Get one with pinlock
That was good ,gentlemen. I dream.... héhéhé
Nice
Running 91 pump octane is pointless unless you physically are changing the compression ratio, installing the cam may of affected the compression but your friend running 91 on a stock grom is silly.
Where I live, the only ethanol-free fuel is 91 "premium"... the rest have 5-10% ethanol, which has less energy than gasoline, so you can get a small performance increase by going ethanol-free.
@@Thirsty_Fox That's actually been proven false.... You wouldn't get necessarily a "performance increase" but instead "increased mpg" because the computer would realize there is unburnt gasoline (energy) in the exhaust via the 02 sensor. Look up a video by the channel called "Project Farm" where he ran high test gas vs low test, the high test only lasted like 2 seconds longer than low test in a generator with a light plugged in and running while having a watt meter on the output of the generator. Needless to say, everything was within the margin of error.
I will repeat myself, "running 91 pump gas in a vehicle not designed for it is wasting money", unless your engine can properly ignite the higher octane you cannot properly burn it.
Best case scenario as you said ethanol free has a little bit more energy, in which the computer of your vehicle will notice the excess "energy" in the exhaust and adjust the injection of gasoline accordingly, you will not get more "performance" but more "mpg" instead. Just because the "potential energy" is there does not mean your compression can properly ignite it.
Worse case scenario you waste money, and force your catalytic converted to work harder, thus lowering its lifespan.
@@akustaka Believe what you like, but there's definitely a benefit of not having ethanol in your fuel. I wish all fuel grades didn't have it but alas. Another reason to avoid ethanol beyond mpg and performance is that ethanol is hygroscopic and retains water, which is especially bad for carbureted bikes, but even FI bikes that are left sitting any length of time. Most modern engines can adapt for the fuel used and make timing adjustments for optimization.
@@Thirsty_Fox
First time I filled up my grom's tank I put premium in my gas tank. High octane gas gave me bad performance. My Grom was choking and shit. I watched a video on YT on how to fill up a Grom and the guy said to use 91 octane gas. That was a mistake. You're full of shit.
And for the record I bought a brand new stock Grom. These minibikes arent designed for high octane gas and it gives worse performance. Read your owner's manual.
Do u have the lInk for the mods?
On my website
What is the weight difference between you two ?
We weigh the same 175
Still running strong with these upgrades?
Yup
Megan Fox in transformers: "Camshaft...."
How does it change the gas mileage??
Hardly noticeable
