To me this album is about escapism through emotion. She herself described it as an "upward spiral". It's about feeling so deeply that you want to BECOME that feeling (hence the title). Most of the tracks are about escapism and finding liberation simply through just letting yourself feel how you want to feel. I just love how she conveys that message not only through her lyrics but also through her very intense vocal delivery. As an aspiring musician myself I find it so inspiring how she can build these magnificent worlds through her vocals, her visual aesthetics, the empty spaces in the production that make way for her voice to shine, how creatively she balances electronic music with organic instrumentation, and how abstract her lyrics are. She's an all around, fully realised, unique artist. Obsessed w her and this album

In context of the album, it only got better, and I had already loved it for a year before the album came out. Billions is easily one of my favorite songs of the decade! There is something so starkly beautiful about the lyrics and how she sings it. In particular, where she has the distorted vocal solo in the last section, it brings me to a higher place. Desire has more of a "upbeat" sound and a different, island vibe as you said, and I think that's why I like some of the songs at first. others I'll need time. some interesting facts about Desire, if you want to know: • the "hey, hey, hey" part in Welcome To My Island is a sample of a Pang's song "Look At Me Now" • the baby sound in Bunny is a Rider is the voice of the producer's child, a friend of her and he has produced some of other artists like Charli XCX • in the end of I Believe, there's a whistle, the same of Bunny is a Rider • dont know if you noticed, but the bridge of Smoke has the same melody of the "da-ra-ra" part in Pretty in Possible
