- I NEVER would have thought I'd see what I did in Arkansas that week.
I spent an entire week criss crossing the backroads of this state, just driving around, talking to people and seeing what this place was all about. Rural Arkansas is a trip.
I saw some big cities, small towns and all sorts of interesting stuff!

Thought this was Maui at first. Either way send another 10 billion to Ukraine or Israel or whoever wants it that is NOT American.
Was it a Sunday when all of those places were closed cuz...bible belt? Sunday is a day of rest and church.
Bro Nick Johnson Arkansas is a beautiful place beautiful state I'm sure I still have cousins there that still live there not sure where that I think my aunt loved it very much when she was alive live there I miss her anyways thank you so much for sharing this video about Arkansas have a great day have a great night be safe❤❤❤❤❤
Love you brother!
I feel like him documenting small town america is more important than ever , considering our nation is in collapse , especially the small family owned businsses like the candy shop...the stuff that america was built on. Thank you for this valuable service. Ive lived in ten different states myself, and i really enjoy these videos
I agree
Yea there's something about small towns. Would be nice to visit some...
Just out of habit, been doing it awhile that I don't even notice it, kinda like when I save every message people send me on some messaging apps, until somebody brought it up. Not even sure why I save them since I don't even look at the massages again...
its in a slow collapse for sure@@blackcherry6877
@@blackcherry6877 is that bad? Don't like your own shit? Dislike it? Is that what you do?
It's refreshing to see America documented by someone like Nick, who treats everyone with kindness and respect. He could teach the mainstream media many, many lessons.
YES HE COULD!! GOD BLESS HIM!!
Nick you have some major news people touting your stuff. Keep up the good work , sooner or later it's gonna git some results.
Blessings for Curtis, his family and all affected by the tornado
So sad!😮😢
Love to your family Curtis.
I’m so sorry.
If you rebuild?
Yourself.
Get at me.
I am a former contractor
And I’d be honored to assist in the planning and build.
No money. I wish I could. I’m talking planning so it never happens again.
@@noahname6695 I'm doing good. Thank you. We ended up moving just down one street. Knock on wood another one doesn't come through again. Wanted to build a shelter but after furnishing a new house and rebuilding my business just didn't have the money to do so.
I’m from rural Arkansas. Thank you for showing our state in an honest and fair way. Highlighting the good, and bad, but in an accurate way. We are proud of who we are. Couldn’t have been more spot on about the importance put on community here, which is one of my favorite things about living here.
I remember driving through Arkansas and was in a small town staying for the night. The nice old lady asked me if I was going out at night and I said I didn't think so....She then said "Son don't go out at night this is a nice town but bad things happen at night so don't go out"...I took her advice...
I do wish people would be explicit when describing potential hazards like " bad neighborhoods ". Name the threat. Who is it exactly in America we should fear?
The bears will get you
she might of been referring to the wild cryptids who roam the remote parts of the Ozark.
I got told that in southern Illinois. Lots of crime there, but I guess they mostly do things at night. Plenty of normal people in the day.
She's full of crap unless she was talking about Pine Bluff
Arkansas is absolutely awesome! I love it here.
Kudos Nick. Accurate depiction of small-town Arkansas. As a native Arkansan, your assessment was spot on. Arkansas has a lot of moving parts and is a much more diverse state than most will understand. We do have a great deal of backward folks without question, but we also have a great deal of amazing Christian people that are authentic. If you are a higher wage earner in this state, you can live extremely well. No state is perfect, but the much lower cost of living is a huge plus. I have benefited greatly from remaining here most of my life. Thank you for an excellent perspective!
Yes sir
Keep the rice in America
He left out tge fact that all men are narcissists, though. ..praising that penis.. men in Arkansas hit women. Then, they get drunk and go out, and hit women. Good ole boys. Not men, though.
Tell me about the authentic athiests in Arkansas.
I’m from and live in Arkansas and I love this video, you did a great job really showing a lot of it off.
That preacher you chatted with was so right on from his perspective. The family aspect of our society and probably elsewhere in the world is disintegrating. Remember the TV show (The Waltons) That was family and community a perspective from Mr. Hamner's the author and producers childhood.
I 100% agree. Look at the shootings going on. It's not the guns, it's dysfunctional families and communities not holding their members accountable. Then in turn they ask to give up more control to the government. If you want freedom, you need to govern yourself.
Arkansas is an absolutely beautiful place
Very nice video Nick.I can't stop watching your videos, they're addictive, simply because you do such a comical job describing some of the areas,as well as Mappy😂,+you also show the good as well as the bad in every community. Way to go Sir,keep up the amazing work 👏
I agree

Born & raised in the beautiful state of Arkansas. I've been a few places around the globe & Arkansas still has my heart.
Really enjoy all you do Nick, most of us would never know what is going on in America if you were not the one bringing us the content. You're awesome.. My Dad's side of the family is all from Arkansas, still have relatives and friends there.
Arkansas is so fascinating! The Ozarks are beautiful. I really enjoyed this video.😊❤
@@DENVEROUTDOORMANnot tin the area I live in. If you love the outdoors there’s hunting, fishing, swimming in the lakes and the beautiful White River for floating trips. Lots of caves to explore too
Hey Nick, I’ve been watching your travels for a long time now. You are doing it right. You are going out and seeing things first hand. I have lived in Virginia, West Virginia, Northern Idaho, Oregon, Washington State, Colorado, and now Western Arkansas. It’s pretty laid back in Arkansas, and I have a hunch it will be a booming place once people discover the beauty of this area. Love your videos and adventures. Hope you never lose your interest in adventuring across America.

This is exactly what I want to do as I get older. Plan out road trips through certain states and regions and explore. I want to meet the locals and get a feel of the cultures and stereotypes. Nothing is more fascinating than traveling the US and taking jn the sights and small towns.

Thanks!
Arkansas is a great state. My grandfather farmed cotton over in Mississippi County.
I’m from Mississippi County myself
Born and raised in central AR. I have been nearly everywhere here. And I will say this video had me laughing the whole time. Northern AR is beautiful.
Arkansas has lots of beautiful sites. Get off the main road.
When my business took me there I loved the lakes and rocks.
I'm from Arkansas. God bless it.
Im from a small town in Arkansas and its a wonderful state. Im moving back now that Im retired.
I relocated to Fayetteville, AR from Ohio close to a year ago. Living in NWA, you don't really see this side of the state. But we have driven through a lot of the western and northern parts of the state and notice the same thing about every place being closed. We'll be driving through these small towns and look to stop somewhere to grab something to eat but most places are closed. It's really weird. We've driven through some small towns and never saw a soul. Every business was closed, no one walking around or any cars on the road. Never seen stuff like before. I grew up in rural Ohio and are used to being outside the metro areas and living in small towns (my hometown only has 500 people) but never where it looks like a literal ghost town.
I can't speak on most of Arkansas but Northwest Arkansas is awesome. I love it here!
Thank you for showing us the parts of Arkansas we wouldn’t normally see, and introducing us to the people and way of life. You are fearless and honest. The tornado situation every year is terrifying, though.
I love living here in Arkansas. I'm so glad I moved here from New Mexico. Specifically, Albuquerque. Where the crime is outrageous. We live in near Conway in the county and try to explore this great state when we can. We love the people and our neighbors.
I absolutely love your videos!
Making my travel bucket list huge!!, lol!
We enjoy all your videos, Nick. Eureka Springs looks especially interesting --- love the Victorian-era architecture!
I’ve gone to Eureka Springs all my life. It’s definitely worth visiting, esp. for a state like Ark.
Arkansas is such a cool state! Great vid as always, Nick!
It really is! Texans tomorrow!
Hallo from Germany. Eureka Springs looks intresting, also the Downtown of Little Rock. There are some beautiful Places in the Video. Thank you!
I live in NE Texas. Arkansas and Louisiana are great states with great people!
I have 3 daughters living in Arkansas and really enjoy my visits there. They all live in smaller cities or outside of town and they love it.
Good work, Nick! Always appreciate how you humanize your videos. Cheers!
Listening to the gentlemen talk about the importance of church and family in Arkansas reminded me what I love about southern folks. They're the salt of the earth
@ 14:50... I LOVE chicken gizzards and gravy! Yea, I used to live in AR, my family is from there. I live in Florida now for lil over 20 yrs now. Sometimes I miss the food there like fresh catfish and purple hull peas, squirrel stew, ec.. mmm!
I used to live in Ozark, AR. Glad to see the Hillbilly get some love!! Ozark is one of the great small towns of America.
Arkansas is very scenic. But they keep wanting to stay in the past, much like my TX. I may retire in Arkansas because you can easily go off grid.
@@heavenhelpus479
Don't. We prefer the past.
@@icanary64which past? There is so much of it to just pinpoint one.
Husband and his family from Batesville, Arkansas. Shoe factory kept people working. I think it unfortunately closed down. Good hard working folk👍💕🙏
There were a lot of factories in Arkansas pre-NAFTA that kept folks working. Harrison AR (mentioned in the video) had a Levi's plant and about an hour south of there on HWY 65 in the town of Marshall was a shirt factory that employed a lot of people. After NAFTA, those companies took their production overseas and that is why you see so many dried up small towns all over Arkansas. It wasn't just farming that employed people. Arkansas is not a union state and companies found cheap labor there. My mother was from that area of Arkansas.
You have a knack for seeing what most of us miss and displaying it for all to see. Wish you could come to North Little Rock and see what you missed rather than relying on hearsay. But keep on doing what you are doing as I have watched all of your videos and eagerly await the next one.
The policy of US government to invest mostly in overseas for profit is no good for local people, I hope the government help those affected by the tornado it's really sad😢😢😢
The U.S. isn't interested in people. They're strictly for war & profit. They should also NOT be associated with the united States of America.
Democrats have an odd set of priorities.
@@DeanDewnuffun Neither Democrats or Republicans give a shit. Politicians = whatever financial gain benefits them.
It is sad that our government doesn’t put it’s own citizens at top priority.
This is one effed up administration! Vote RED!
Nick, your video only shows the rural parts of the state, which are great, but you made a point of showing the low economic areas. We really do have some poor areas in this great state. The next time you see the state, make a point of touring around and visiting some of our beautiful lakes, rivers and parks with campgrounds. Poverty is not the only thing in Arkansas.
This video makes me want to move to Arkansas.
I moved here from Phoenix AZ, I love it here!
Youre more than welcome , just dont bring democrat issues
I was born and raised in ca and moved to Arkansas a few years ago and never been happier it’s such a different atmosphere than ca
I’m thinking about doing the same. I feel more aligned with southern folks. Any tips…🙏🏼

I love this video. As a born again Christian myself I could relate to the oneness they feel with their community. Praise Jesus Christ, and always count your blessings! Thank you Nick!
My wife and I enjoy your videos. We especially enjoy your interviews and interactions with local people and places. These provide an insight and flavor that is not found elsewhere.
Hello from Arkansas. I did not understand the relationship between obesity and poverty until I found myself in poverty. Look at what food banks hand out. Starches are cheap and filling. Arkansas is a non-voting state as in only about 1/4th showed up in the last general election. Too many people have given up. We have potential.
I agree love how it looks there...
That land has all the makings to be prosperous.
It's the managers and who they are beholden to that ruin it.
If I lived in a warm rural State like Arkansas I would go fishing for my meals as often as possible.
You would fit right in around here. Fishing and hunting for food is a normal way of life.@@jeffrobodine8579
I'm 60. Grew up outside of Fayetteville. It was a beautiful state.
Nobody sings like Nick. Take that however you want.
Thanks nick. That was a good piece. Everyone's always so down on Mississippi and Arkansas but there are decent places in decent people DeSoto county Mississippi right now but eventually want to get away from Memphis and perhaps have a place near Heber springs and then one over in the Texas Hill Country near my middle stepson. The older I get the less I want to be living right next to a big city.
Central Texas is safer than any of those area. We don't really call it Texas Hill Country. It's central Texas.
Absolutely!
What about Chattanooga it’s nice to get away from Memphis, and Nashville.
My mom and stepfather used to live in Salado I really loved. I've thought about Chattanooga my wife was born there. I also like the muscle shoals area.
@@Ithumpify Salado is nice but too expensive. Temple is also expensive. Plenty of places to buy further north. I bought 10 acres for $80K, Wildlife land.

I have visited the only rest stop in Arkansas. Nice place in a beautiful state. The state also has the Homestead Exemption which really makes paying taxes nicer.

AR is not an abbreviation for Assault Rifle, it is the abbreviation of ArmaLite.
The AR in “AR-15” rifle stands for ArmaLite, after the company that developed it in the 1950s. “AR” does NOT stand for “assault rifle” or “automatic rifle.” AR-15 and other semi-automatic rifles are NOT “assault weapons” or “assault rifles.” An assault rifle is fully automatic - a machine gun.
Aww, Yay for showing Hampton and those other small towns. LOVE.
North Arkansas is beautiful. The city of El Dorado that you went through is the home of a lot of billionaires.

Great to see clips of your travels in Arkansas!
Razorback Ribs was only closed for a short time due to a fire. Lots of the small places close and reopen for many reasons I feel like you came through at the worst time lol. One things for sure we love supporting the small businesses they are often so much better to support!!! Come back sometime Nick! I can show you around Yellville/Summit area!!!

Enjoyed the video as always. Chow-Chow is a relish eaten on cooked vegetable such as purple hull peas, collard greens, black eyes peas and etc. it's really good. Regardless of whatever your personal beliefs may be, the pastor at the Baptist Church is right. The most important thing is family and taking care of each other. Lack of money will make you miserable, but after you make a certain amount of money it doesn't make you happier. It can't fill certain things you are missing from your life. There are many wealthy people who are miserable.
The only wealthy people I know who are miserable are those who can't manage their money.
You are telling me folks living in those hovels are happy? Jesus. If you would have anything, you would have to worry about the crack heads/ meth addicts taking it. I thought this was just about as pitiful as can be. Look at who they elect to be their leaders! Blah!
Grew up in Hot Springs. Great memories

Hey buddy, thanks for posting. Yes, Arkansas is poor (except for the Northwest corner), and very conservative. But there are still some really good things to it. If you decide to ever come back, I highly recommend Jasper. Wonderful little town of 400! Great place for outdoor activities and it used to be the home of Dopatch, USA! Now Bass Pro is renovating the old Dogpatch park. Good travels!
Except the churches..they rich? Den of thieves if you ask me! They need rehabilitation centers for the mental crisis in Arkansas and then you got Sarah Huckabee stealing money under Jesus name! Smh!

The poverty level in Arkansas is not the same as it is in major cities like Dallas or St. Louis for example. The cost of living is much lower than in other states. I am living on a poverty level income and I do okay here in Arkansas. And during an economic crash people in Arkansas and states like this will do much better overall.
