Fold Down Miter Saw Cover To Complete Bench Top - All-In-One Woodworking Table Miter Saw Station
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- Since installing the fold down miter saw station I've wanted to close it up when the saw is in its stored position.
Closing it up would complete the top on the ultimate woodworking workstation making one large outfeed table for the table saw.
Folding miter saw station full video:
No clash! MITER SAW INSTALLED to table saw station - ALL IN ONE woodworking workbench. P3
The reason I never got around to doing it was because till now I couldn't figure out the best way to store the lid when I wanted to use the station.

Great solution and design! It’s very inspiring for many of us. Thanks for sharing and explaining!
This bench is a work of art (in it's own way). I have a garage to work in and just don't have the space to build this. I'm going to instead replace my counter/cabinets with these elements that will roll in/out underneath the counter. I love that everything is right where you need it and ready to go to work in your solution. Thanks for the great ideas and great video editing.
Great workstation Jean, well done. Just a suggestion, have you considered cutting / routering a notch into the back of the fold-up section to give the power cable more freedom of movement, looks like it's pinched a bit when the mitre is folded up (but that might not be the case)? Love the idea, busy working on something similar (although a bit smaller).
The whole work station is genius. You have done a great job making the most of a very small space.
It is absolutely great. One day I hope to make something similar.

I love this bench with the door. Do you sell the plans ?
Just found your channel today! Excellent! Are plans for this table available?
Another option would be to have it as a back that sticks up with the miter saw is in use, and you can build small sides so it will act as a dust collection hood. Put a single hole for dust port to plug into. Just a thought when watching the process. I really like the build, and how you broke it into stages. I am glad you closed the gap, as I see it as a great assembly area with that large flat space. With that idea, I would include a paper roll on the side that you could roll out paper on top while doing assembly to protect your top. Are you considering sealing the top, or putting something like a paste wax to have things slide even easier?
I LOVE this design!!!!
Jean you are a genius......you always think outside the box.......that's why i follow you, so I can learn.
Beautiful solution.
Awesome job! That is one superbench for sure. You've given me inspiration for designing my own smaller mobile bench. Keep up the great videos!
I am moving into a house with a 3 gar garage and one bay will be used as a woodshop and I will be using many of your ideas. Thanks
Happy to help :)
Very slick solution
Thanks. Almost can't believe I didn't think of it sooner.
Very creative, I’ve been searching the internet for some solutions to issues with limited work space and increased number of power tools. It’s inspirational to see how not only have you planned the project to the level, love the idea on installing the mitre saw table ( I wondered why you did not just drill through the side panel, yours is a much better solution ). Well I’m off to my work shop to do some measuring to design a modification to my workbench for my saw.
Brilliant and well done. Great job.... Thanks for sharing....
Ingenious, You should patent the design. That is the most complete compact workshop I have ever seen. I would have loved to run into you years ago when I was getting into woodworking.
Thanks Thomas. I don't know much about patents but I don't think the bench could ever be a commercially sold item because the measurements are very dependent on the equipment you own.
I really like you work bench with the fold down tools. Great use of space.
You sir are a genius!! Love this build series and I plan on a smaller version. Thanks for the inspiration
So perfekt this solution!!! Verry clever done!!!
That's absolutely genius friend. I am going to have to copy your idea!
You have BY FAR the best channel to learn from. At the same time it's entertaining so it's not tiring me out. I haven't skipped any frame of your videos :p unlike other YT videos where they tire me out and make me want to skip whole parts.
And what an ingenious design you created with your table. I just love it how you managed to get so many tools in it, without them limiting other tools. I hope to see the next step in your design very soon. It's like waiting for the next episode of my favorite series to come out XD PLEASE HURRY!!
Working on it friend. I want to add a router table to the bench. I just got a new Triton router specifically for that reason. I'm busy doing a review on the router then hopefully I can add it to the bench in the next video after the review.
I have full confidence in you, you are a very clever and resourceful engineer. Love seeing you solve the challenges.....what could you possibly do to improve this work station ... waiting to see....
I still have one or two things in mind so watch this space haha.
@@WoodshopJunkies I'm sure you do, and I will definitely be watching this space to see what you've got up your sleeve
What a great work station you have built. I am looking at building a work bench myself as I also have limited space in my workshop, I noticed that a lot of people who have built their benches put the table saw at the end of the table, Why is this as I am thinking of placing it on the longer side and don't want to get it wrong?
impressive! I wonder if being in that position for long periods of time affects the saw. Its fully extended, albeit at a steep angle, but still......just a thought
Absolutely fantastic workstation
add gas shock like you put you have on a hatchback car. You seem to worry about the saw slamming down when you want to drop it in. I will lay down nice and slowly. like a slow close door guide. nice table.
great chenal, fantastic website, wonderful ideas... thanks for sharing
Nice addition to your workbench looks great, plus i was thinking to myself 'would it slide down the back of the saw' and hey presto that's what you did. Well done on the whole thing, it's been great watching you build this from it's start.
Barry (ENG)
Hey Barry. I've had a lot of fun planning and building the bench but as I said before, I'm ready to put this build to bed haha. I really want to get rolling on my next big build. There's one or two more additions I'd like to make though.
Very nice, man! hopefully I can build one similar to this in the future. Thank you for sharing!
work station is genius
Very cleverly thought out and completed. Nice idea and job.
Are you serious! This is the most impressive thing I have ever seen in my life!!!!
Looks great. Lots of time spent thinking this up and pre planning.
Its a wonder you didnt consider those hinge/rollers you can now buy for concealing cupboard doors, oven doors and the like. Would be a perfect fir for this job.
Excellent, easy way to get the station complete.
Great ideal. Great concepts.
An immense amount of thought went into the building of this station 👍
Love this series. I will be working in the same direction soon, but will wait to see more updates of your as you go along. I was considering the same thing with that top. My thoughts were to make a hinged top the either is a slip top and opens to the left and the right of the saw or to just one side (right) and include a built in auxiliary fence. I'd probably lean to a split top. this would mean that the saw would need to sit higher to be aligned, but the fence and top would align on both sides of the saw. Might interfere with the table saw too much. Great work sir.
Thanks Brad. I can envision what you are saying and with some planning I'm sure it can be pulled off. My only concern would be to support the overhang on long stock. Let me know how it goes.
Outstanding sir!! Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding!!!
Thank you sir!!
Good thinking. That lid offers more assembly room. And looks great!
so much for working from home today...
Nice one Jean!! Have really enjoyed watching the series and looking forward to the Router table section...
Busy prepping for it know. Should be my next video.
Great quality and price!
How practical would it be to hang the miter saw the same as you did the planer? That way rotating the saw would cover the hole the same as the one on the planer.
Glad you got that done....👍🏻
Lekker one my china. Good solution to the problem. Well done. Kiff jacket huh
So this is a really weird thing to notice, but I really appreciated the way you shot and edited the sequence where you showed the bottom bracket. You actually pointed the flashlight and turned it on before you cut to a closeup with the light on the bracket. Even professionally-produced movies frequently forget to justify little things like that
(I also think your workstation is awesome, and might end up doing something similar myself!)
Thanks Alex. I try to edit the videos so that they are easier and more entertaining to watch. I don't have any editing experience besides the videos I've done for this channel. I basically just do what feels right to me so it's good to hear that I'm getting it right sometimes.
I also noticed that little touch. Very well done.
this whole set up is great! I am curious as to why you woulndt just make the miter saw flip 180 degrees?
Is there enough room to swing the miter for 45° cuts on both sides?
Very well done. I really like you work station.
Wow, awesome table. I am interested on the latches you used. If you put a link to the products you used, I believe you will earn a small % of the sales which will add up in no time. All the best.
Love it buddy!!!
Nice job, I'm thinking of building one my self.
I have a small space too and I think that's the best way to go and store all my tools.
Muy bien amigo!!! 🖒🔨📐
i will be building one with some more features, for my smaller space, featured on my channel
Beautiful. Great solution
Real neat. Love it
Very well laid out and put together; why this way instead of separate work stations for each power tool along the walls connecting the vac as needed?
I've found that I can support more stock overhang if I make the support surfaces common for more than one piece of equipment.
Really enjoying the series - the videos are put together very well and the workstation is incredible - the mitre saw top solution is genius. Good stuff.
Well done Bro 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This series of videos are brilliant, and I am deffo building something like this for my table saw, mitre saw, drill press, surfacer, router and band saw. One question: why didn't you pivot the mitre saw station in the middle, like the planer, so the underside becomes the work surface when the tool is folded away?
It can be done but when I was designing the bench I was trying to make each tools footprint as small as possible. You will notice the miter saw is longer than the bed it mounted on. If I wanted it to be able to complete a 180° rotation the bed would have needed to be bigger and so would have needed more space.
fantastic!
I am sure you have/had a reason to not make that part of the bench a flip top like the planner. But that could have been an alternative configuration. Love your work on this project.
I did consider it but I decided against it because it would require a longer bed (back to front) to be able to do a 180° rotation. This wouldn't be a problem if I wasn't trying to make the absolute best use of the little available space on the bench. I think it would have looked nicer if I did the planer and the saw the same though.
Good job. Off-topic...nice jacket!
Haha, thanks!
It's pretty cool how you started out to build a workstation but wound up building the woodworking equivalent of a plywood Voltron.
Attaboy! Great solution! I was trying to figure it out before your reveal... I failed. Makes perfect sense, though.
Yeah. It is such a simple solution but I couldn't think of it originally either. I only considered doing it like this about a week ago.
would i be able to do the same with a drill press
Fantastic!
Brilliant. Thank you for the videos.
Genius
Awesomeness
I love this.
Totally awesome dude... Great series of videos...
Brilliant
Perfect!
Vuen trabajo
Cleverly done old son.
Thanks, Peter.
Is there enough clearance when rotate your mitre saw to cut on a 45 deg angle?
There is yes. In some of my videos I do make 45° cuts with it.
Nice
Great Job. Well dan. Weah is the EHBO boxs?
You are a genius! Love this video series. Watched all episodes straight. Also you're a great video editor, so much fun to watch your videos. + 1 subscriber. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Sweden
been enjoyable to watch your workbench evolve. if I can suggest, the top of your MS station (when closed) could be a simple downdraft table when sanding. if that don't get you thinking about what to do next . . . :>) great channel.
Hey Russ. Yeah, I can see that in my minds eye. I don't know if my little shop vac can supply the suction needed but I guess I won't know if I don't explore the idea.
if I could suggest further, keep it the thickness of the lid now and the size to 12" by 30" (?). just somewhere for the air borne to gravitate to when you sand near it. Maybe the vac hose plugging in from the top when in use and a cover over the port when not. you do already have a vac connection on the worksurface ? it would make a great video once you figure out what fits your needs best. if you want I have several different possible design ideas in my head.
Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely look into it.
I'd consider adapting a gas strut to make the fold down more easy.
Loved your work in Game Of Thrones.
What is the height of your workbench?, What are the dimensions of your miter saw?, Specifically, front to rear. Tx
you could of made a dust hood that would also act as a bench top when the saw is down
Show de bancada !!!
Are you able to make 45 degree miters? There doesn't appear to be any room to move the miter handle.
Only a skilled perfectionist can make such a workstation real. Still it is funny to see how perfectionism can be restricting sometimes. If there is no clever folding mechanism and space for the top, why not just attach a cleat and hang it to the wall behind you when you remove it? This thing is not going to sapce as one vacuum-tight unit, is it? ;-)
What will be your workflow for glue-up and storing half-done pieces? Another wall-attached folding table at the other end of the room? I guess you don't want to get much glue or finishing products on your workstation main surface since it will impede the flat surface when using the built-in tools? Steve Ramsey has a nice paper-roll dispenser on the side of his assembly table to prevent a spoiled table.
Keep it up, thanks for the great videos!
All very good points. Unfortunately, with space I have available I am going to have to make sacrifices. Building my bench like this means more equipment can be stored and used effectively but it doesn't leave much space to work on more than one project at a time. As for wall mounting, I'm keeping my walls open because I want to build clamp and other storage that will be against the wall. I also want to add a rail system to my wall that would allow me to mount the camera.
It would be cool if the lid had a catch of some sort so that when the saw is folded down, the back of it would catch and pop out the lid a bit to make it easier to grab.
Not a bad idea. I'll check it out. Thanks.

Dog: I'm helping!
Nicely done. Are you still considering installation of a router next to the table saw?
I am yes but I had to change my design because there were a couple of things about the original design I wasn't happy with. That's why there has been a delay in the installation of it. I have decided to move the router to the other side of the station to where there is more space. Having it next to the table saw would be ideal but I feel it would be better utilized at the other end.
Nice work as the other one 😎
The dog changed colour!!!
I see he finally dusted off that hardhat.
Beautiful piece of work. But it seems like he could have added on to his shop for the price of all that wood. ;)
Your dog is awesome. What's his/her name?
I like your Workbench. I have also limited space, but I don't think I will make a copy. I want to have my machines seperate and always accessible
The tan one is a he and hes name is Django. The little black one that rarely makes an appearance (shes a bit camera shy) is Bella.
Now let's see the tablesaw fold!
Gibt es auch auch einen Bauplan von dieser Wunder-Workbench?
Rudi
do you like your bosch 12v drill...?
I do very much yes. I've gotten a bit of push back for it but I really like working with the tiny driver because it's small and light. It has more than enough torque for piloting and driving screws so its a perfect for what I use it for. I have larger cordless drills but I find myself reaching for the small one the most. But if it's intended to be the only cordless at your disposal I'd say don't go for it.
Im asking because i just got myself the same drill last week, and im in love woth it
That's great. Like I said, I really like mine also and they are much stronger than you would expect them to be. Two of my family members also got the same ones after I got mine.
pretty smart great job. need to put a finish on your table to make it look awesome
Indeed. Completing the top made a big difference in the overall look of the station.
Thumbs up for the shop puppers @ 1:40!
Nice man do you have plans for this build, I'm in SA cape town also have limited space for my tools.
Not for the content of this video unfortunately no.
Someone mentioned in the comment section of one of your earlier videos, and now I cannot unsee it... with regard to the miter function of your miter saw, can you make a full 45 degree cut? It could be the angle, as video is 2 dimensional, but it looks like the side walls of the recess would restrict this movement.
You may have already answered this, but I will admit a) to not reading EVERY comment in the comment section, and b) I don't watch every second of every video... I do move around looking for specific bits of information.
At 3.13 in this video I make a 45° cut with the saw. ua-cam.com/video/o7UGDvP1lhk/v-deo.html
The question comes up a lot.🙂
