At 1:20, that's exactly why I have a passport card. Whenever I fly domestically, it's a strong ID, accepted by TSA, and if I want to get a drink in a bar, it also serves to show that I'm over 21--all while protecting my home address and other personal details that are nobody's business in those circumstances. Of course, I also have a driver's license (mine happens to be the "enhanced" type, which also acts as a passport card), but I only show that when I need to confirm my home address.

My drivers license was expired when I went into a distillery while attending a wedding in the mountains. I pulled out my passport card & the barista accepted that because it wasn't it expired. So that was a good to know experience in case that situation ever happens again.

I have a passport and it is very useful as a Federal ID and it is accepted almost anywhere.
I consider it a must have for US citizens.

I haven't read any comments but I wanted to say I was researching this topic a bit because I did have a u.s. passport with the passport card but it expired before using the passport card. I was told it's not valid for local libraries since it doesn't have one's address. But I like the idea of having a current, valid federal government issued ID which doesn't show my home address for privacy issue s. Your video is thus far the most informative and practical one. Thanks for sharing..
It's the closest thing you can get to a national I.D, so no more dealing with that state driver's license and I.D stuff.

I’m just an American (born in America). I’m just trying to get a Real ID in NYS. I’m renewing my regular drivers license into a Real ID. I’ve always paid for the Passport card along with my actual Passport. I’ve always had the card, but I’ve never gotten to use it. Can I use it as a form of ID to get my Real ID in NYS? Thanks for any guidance. 👍🏾

NYS DMV accepts passport book or card for applying for real ID or enhanced driver license purposes.
You will also need to provide proof of your social Security number at the DMV office.
It could be the actual SS card or W2 with full number printed on it.

I'm a US citizen working in Nigeria for one year but my company is sending me home for 4 weeks on vacation. I surrendered my Nigerian visa for a renewal, so they are retaining my passport book for a month to process another 90-day visa. My questions are: 1) may I use a passport card to go on a 2-week cruise from USA to Panama Canal and back to a US port on just a passport card? 2) I need to stay out of USA for 35 days to avoid income taxes. Will the IRS accept me being outside the US if on a cruise ship? I read different answers on the internet. Thank you.
Can I use it to get a job? I just made an appointment for this Monday I only getting the id passport the lady at the job I'm going to apply told me to get a passport so that's why my state id and driver's license expired I try making an appointment but all appointments are not available so that's why I'm getting a passport id to have some identification on me good thing the job I'm going to is near my house I can walk it is a kfc I get there in 5 minutes walking they asked me for a passport like I mentioned so hopefully at the end they say the passport is not useful to work but they said it works so ok
yes you can, Passport, passport card are the same as a state ID
@@Finn-gx6ir one problem i already went to the post office to get one the lady there asked me for a valid state id to get a passport she was rude she told me to use Uber to go get my driver's license I told her Uber won't stay with me there to use their car people at the USPS are mean she Also told me why I haven't renew my driver's license I told her personal reasons she said tell me well I had anxiety and depression and panic attacks for 10 years and now I'm feeling better that's why I'm trying to get a passport to go get my driver's license she said well you still need a state id to get a passport i just told her thanks for the help I'll ask my brother to take me get my driver's license but I know he won't take me he's an azzzsssh0l333
@@dJ.kNiGhT23 i'll see what happens, i actually sent a passport application with just the birth certificate, they sent a letter back to me saying to send back a few more documents which i did, so hopefully they accept the documents provided, i provided social secuirty card, medical insurance card, a photo copy of a signature of a bank check, and if you already have a state ID they should still count that, because if you already have a state ID even if its expired it still counts as a ID, try a different post office some of them are really miserable people
@@Finn-gx6ir cool I didn't know you can do what you said but you'll get your passport the things you sent are acceptable unfortunately I don't have non of what you sent last but no problem for me I once was how I was back in 1998 I had anxiety and panic attacks and I got up again by just eating good playing Basketball and I was good to go again that's exactly what I'm doing later on I'll just gotta do it like I did in 2003 go to the driver's school just to study the new questions in 2 or 3 weeks of me going to school from there they'll take me to the facility to get my driver's license that's what I done it and yes at the USPS asked for my driver's license and it was expired they said it expired in 2018 I know but like I told them I had personal reasons they still didn't Care I don't worry much now I'm down later on I'll be up and those who refused to help me will see me rise from the ashes like a phoenix. And don't worry you'll get your passport trust me you will the last things you sent with a photo will do but yes some USPS place are mean and won't help you that they I even lost $600 that I took I came home all mad I said do it really have bad luck smh no problem I'll get that money back money comes and goes but a human never good luck 🤞 with your passport I'll pray that you get it. 🤞✝️🙏
@@dJ.kNiGhT23 thanks man, i just got news my brother renewed his ID through DMV website, you can keep the same photo and just renew it through the offical DMV website from what my brother said only 30$ try it out man, my brother told me he had to see none of the people from the DMV to renew it so take a look maybe this is your chance, an Expired ID is still an ID not sure why USPS is being an asshole to you, people who are working at my USPS at pretty decent humans but the DMV man is miserable place to be at, my passport is for my sister, i aleady have my passport but even if she has a birth cetificate DMV people being real shit bags, anyways see if you can get that ID renewed just gotta keep trying to find a way :D

I think you are referring to the plastic data page of your book - it is not a card or to be separated

Good day.. I recently had my social security benefits transfered on a direct express credit card. Now when I could not access my benefits using an ATM I called Direct Express and I supplies my passport card as primary identification and they claim not valid form of ID?
