Honestly I’m sick of total war doing baby steps. If they make medieval 3 I want the campaign map to borrow or improve on paradox’s features. Like seriously modern historical total war could do so much more but they just don’t. It’s infuriating
@@PanzerblitzRnR personally I’m in the same boat. Even when playing 1212ad I’m struck by how bare bones everything feels. Reading a boring history book gets me more immersed in the time period than modern historical total war.

This was my first Total War cause it was the only one my PC could run at the time (The game was probably 6-7 years old by that point too). Got it right before summer break started and played about 200 hours over the next few weeks. Would literally wake up, play this game for 12 hours (with reasonable breaks to eat and such), go to bed and repeat. Simpler times.
It’s so funny watching legend play this game after so long 😂😂 low taxes and auto resolve would’ve emotionally damaged legend in 2015. Seeing this come up on my feed made my fucking day. Still watching the SS 6.4 Eastern Roman Empire campaign right now. Keep up the MTW2!
Only watch the videos for medieval II so thank you for the throw back!! Still watching your crusader states campaign and boy did you hate being benevolent. lol
Love seeing this, definitely one of my favourite games growing up, overheating my school laptop trying to play large battles and go through turns. Great to see it again and you playing it Legend
Honestly I don't know if they still exist but it's well worth researching the Warhammer (Call of Warhammer) & LOTR (Third Age Total War) mods made using this game. Some of the most incredible community efforts I've ever experienced. Well worth the money and time invested for an awesome solo campaign experience.
These older total war games kind of show their age now but playing them back in the day, especially as a kid were some of the best gaming experiences of my life. The first Rome total war was my favorite game for years.
I like the clunkiness and unresponsiveness of the units in M2, it feels more like commanding people than other TWs. Like if I tell my cavalry to suddenly change direction mid canter, I’d expect it to take them a few moments to wheel their horses round and set off back the other way. When I tell a unit of infantry to get out of melee combat I think it is perfectly understandable that a few of them may be a little hesitant to turn their back on the enemy.
i love medieval 2 total war so much. it takes me back to a good time, a better time, before dlcs and microtransactions. maybe i'm just too stubborn for my own good, but i never buy games with microtransactions and bs dlc and would rather stick with good old classics like medieval 2 total war, mount and blade warband, gta san andreas, company of heroes 1, age of empires 2 and 3, and football manager 2012
That castle where the ram got destroyed and you managed to get inside it anyway, was very very impressive. I was sure you would just get away and come back later with more rams. The whole video was neat, but that really caught me offguard, lol.
One of the most chalenging and satisfying campaigns in my TW experience. Despite the description saying "lack of cavalry", the only unique unit worth recruiting is the border horse. Don't bother with pikes. 😂
Remember border horse is arguably the best light cab in game they are just so damn fast you can cheese the game with them very easily 2 border horse can wipe a 6 stack of Islamic heavy spear militia with all the armor upgrades when used properly (yes on very hard I’ve done spit and keep doing it)
@@XenoDoggyou have to micromanage the hell out of them. It seems like the longer they're engaged with enemies the less effective they become. So I constantly have them hit flanks and pull back after about 10-15 seconds
Guys, can someone tell me how to decrease the speed of the camera on the campaign map? I see Legend's zoom speed is fine while mine on 24' 144hz 1920x1080 monitor is so fast even if I adjust the camera settings in Game Options
You call the controls clunky now but if you play a while and watch closely you realize it's nothing but realistic it takes horses to get to speed, especially for a coordinated charge. Going back to Rtw then cavalry feels like weightless rubber balls. No wonder they got rid of it again in newer TW - can't expect players to have skill or limit perfect battlefield control.
I wouldn't autoresolve against a settlement and certainly not against a citadel. However, against rebels in the open, it's a good way to get experience for cheap.
