I've been carp fishing for 23 years, and in the last few years I discovered the Ugly Stik GX2 9' medium rod, and it's been absolutely perfect for carp. It's got the perfect amount of give, and plenty of backbone should you need it. I've landed carp up to 30lbs on it with no problems. Tight lines

Here's the thing with the landing mats, outside of a carp's lip, which will always bleed, the fish is virtually indestructible. If you don't believe me, try to fillet one after scaling it. I've never injured one on shore, and they're more likely to hurt themselves hitting something in the water as they fight you. As long as you're gently handling them in a net that isn't likely to cut their gills, they'll be fine. Great video! I've been watching your content for awhile, and it's always enjoyable.
Back in the day, about 40 years ago or there about, my brother and I (14 an 16 years old) did a lot of fishing to put in the freezer. That spring we did a long day carp fishing and ended up with about 300 pounds or more of carp. We had a long night of cleaning and Mama canned it all, because there was not enough room left in the freezer after our previous exploits... Carp is some good eating if you prepare it correctly, and canning it was a brilliant stroke; the little bones all through out the meat were softened up and posed no issues later when eating... We ate a lot of carp croquettes that year. I went to college the next year and we never got the chance to do that again.
I love this. I plan to add this to my fishing adventures. Added Crappie last year other than for baitfish. Anything but bass fishing not due to the fish but what it’s become over the last 40 years. Love your channel. You are one of the best all around fisherman of our time. Keep it up.

You release all your fish no one should be upset you let the fish go back to do what they do great video don’t care about negative comments that way you know your doing it right if you get negative comments because they can’t do it. Great job keep it going
Justin I used to fish for Carps at Indian Lake, Ohio and the Little Miami River. The Carps way back than ran 3 to 5 lbs. Still fun on a spinning outfit or a bamboo rod!! I used to make and sell (at 3 local bait shops). Wheaties, molasses and anis oil. Sold a lot of that bait and caught my share of your favorite cat. A little change from the cat and I had Carp bait. My Grandmother taught me how to make bait and how to fish (bamboo poles) then I turned 8 years old. I also caught and sold a ton of nightcrawlers before my bait got really popular!!!
I use chunks of fresh hotdog bun on a #4 treble hook. I use vanilla extract mixed with water and I'll spray some on the chunks. The carp love the vanilla and it works great as a bug repellent if they get bad

Kayak catfish turned kayak bank carp man!!! Love it!!! I use the same pack bait and similar method feeders. I wish I could post pictures but the biggest hook I use is a 6.
I love fishing for carp! I use the methods with hair rigs as well! Much better hookups with the hair rig unless you just throw some corn on a hook! Carp are so much fun!!! Hard pulling fish!

dont worry about the long rods we only use them to get extra casting distance which you dont need and one other trick when the carp are feeding so hard is to use balls of mud on the feeder when you get short of bait ,all you have to do is make a cloud to get the carp nosing around
Some places in UK have banned method feeder cause it's so good. Also, we have to use bait alarms, barbless hooks, big landing nets as well as the landing mat. Big money. Then you got the Bivvys too. But the ground bait / pack bait is so different, it's so crazy here i wont even try to explain. Not to mention how difficult it is to cast with a long fishing rod. You make it look to easy. It's fair to say i'm not the best fishing guy about. Thanks for the video.

I have carp spawning where I live and was getting bites like that on worms. I even hooked one on a topwater plug I couldn't believe it. Got it to the bank it was probably ten pounds, had it by the gill bc that was all I could grab on a muddy bank he flipped out of my hand, broke my line and took the plug
I share your enthusiasm for fishing. When I was a youngster, I found I could “fish” for chub minnows in the creek. I wasn’t supposed to be at the creek because it was too far from the house and in actuality, it probably was slightly unsafe? Anywho, with homemade hooks, granny’s 🧵, and whatever bait I could find, I spent oodles of time catching the worthless chubs! Some of the best times in life are definitely the simplest.
