Sharp is an absolute gigachad. I had a chills moment watching him ladder a year or two ago against a zerg. They went fast/aggressive muta all in and his marine medic micro transcended all space/time.
I agree man, mid game and late game takes the game to a new level as now the players have to adapt to the outcome of the build orders and countered push.
SPOILER -- -- gosh thats clever! at 10min Arto says pushing one or two DTs forces use of scans and allows for arbiters to be unimpeded a minute later. fkn mind blown moment right there.
It could also be a case that if you want to get a second scout out, you send one out then the first SCV ends up living so you just repair it and send the other back home.
Possibly a dumb question by why doesn't terran mech ever seem to include SCV's for repairs? Is it just lost mining time? You would think a few repairs would pay for itself.
In a game where your attention is your most valuable resource, it requires too much of it to be worth doing. It's better to nail your macro and micro your army than it is to repair tanks + repairs take a long time. Sharp definitely could've had more than 1 SCV in his initial push though and the game would've ended even sooner.
Not a dumb question at all. Some terran players do bring a couple of or few SCV's for turrets and repairs, but like it's already pointed out that spending too much attention to that might not be optimal. From the numerous Flash games I've noticed that God is quite on top of the repairs if there is enough time and priority for it.
You do see Flash doing this, but very few other terrans bother bc of the lack of APM. To do absolutely everything you would want to do in a BW game you would probably need 1000+ APM
@@EB-bl6cc i even guess there is no limit. with 2000 or 10000 APM you could do even more, love starcraft for this, cuz the human posibilities are limited and we need to search for different ways of improvement
There wasn't really a moment I can point to where I can say "Oh they lost this game here" or "oh they won this game here." Sharp just very calmly and very cleanly dealt with pressure and pushed out to a position that Dewalt couldn't deal with. The big thing I noticed was a one two punch where he focused on killing as many observers as he could and controlled the map with mines. The mine placements by Sharp were as close to perfect as you can get. Killing observers is one of the most boring targets, it's not as spectacular as killing a reaver, but I feel like Dewalt running out of observers put him in a very bad position.
I’m a dewalt fan but sharp is like watching an insect predator - I love his games (when they work or when they don’t). It’s like a fierce dance that is aggressive but sort of alien. It’s not the more mathematical technical pure timing attack optimized build as much as you see from other more meta top terrans. He’s trying to outdance his opponents
In chess, the hardest moments as a player to recognize are when you transition out of the opening into the middle game. That's where most mistakes are made. I think a similar analysis can be made in this game. Dewalt's opening was solid, but the transition into the middle game and failing to block that initial push turned out to be a blunder.
Unrelated to this game specifically: What about making 1 scout in late game to follow the arbitrer, scare off and mb kill vessels so stasis can be used on something more important like a group of tanks, blocking a ramp, etc? In the same time if toss manage to have terran waste scans or even damage sat coms with DTs or something, Terran may end up having some problems with detection
@@spookylight3249 If surface area is taken into consideration, Russia is mostly part of Asia. If population is taken into consideration its mostly in Europe.
Im not sure if this is a good question but I will ask it anyways: If the terran player decided to go multiple barracks and depot instead of CC, would a full on rush work against a Nexus first strategy or does it lose to the math of generating more resources earlier from the Nexus?
dewalt did everything wrong. went for contain but didnt contain. didnt even slow down the 3rd. donated shuttle/reaver. didnt protect his expansion. and that recall was horrible. gg
Dewalt is about 50x better than me at Starcraft, but I've watched a ton of his games and I think mechanically he is mostly where he needs to be to hang with the Korean pros. Unfortunately I think the issue is that he has a very decisive play-style, but seems to lack just enough decisiveness to push that style of play to it's full potential--if that makes sense. To use a more extreme example to illustrate what I'm talking about, it would be like a zerg like Action pushing himself to always play like the king of aggression himself, Zelot.
DeWit, abusing protoss Imba at the non S-class scene since 2008 lol. The man excels in the foriegn scene where terran can't be played perfectly a-la flash/boxer, and the PvT Imba is hilariously obvious

I would say that playing on meta is generally the most consistent way to reach ASL because 90% of the players that are at that level play meta. But I would say it’s actually the opposite when it comes to the skill ceiling. The people who truly dominate all play off meta or make their own meta. Flash comes back and immediately disregards the meta, Bisu disregards the meta and makes his own PvZ style which dominates to this day, Snow completely changes the PvT meta using a unit no one was interested in, Mini with his new DT scanner attack builds and his core first plays, Soulkey doing early pools and using lings to catch the first push out and the trick he just used against Rush in SSL. The only difference between these guys being cheesers and them being champions is how well they execute the strategies no one else is using.
Your report is very inaccurate. Flash did not "immediately disregard the meta," and to the extent he has gone anti-meta, he the experimentation has gone quite poorly so far. Snow didn't completely change any PvZ meta, no idea what you're talking about. Ditto Mini, Soulkey. The only legit example you have is Bisu, which occurred what, almost 20 years ago? And is the reason Bisu is nicknamed "The Revolutionist." Revolutions don't happen often. Otherwise they wouldn't be real revolutions.
ASL SPOILER - - - - - 18:00 I think the point about dragoons over comitting to flanking vultures was an interesting point, especially given how this exact mistake cost Bisu a match against Barracks. (for those wondering in the future: they played in the round of 16 in ASL/SSL season 18)
protoss must just have nightmares from vulture flanks, causing them to totally over react. I feel like it's good to stop the flank but 2-3 goons should be enough.
Dewit's such a sore loser lmao. Doesn't even try the final fight even though hes building 2 extra bases and has a 270-degree surround, just rage quits. At least try lol

Abe Lincoln played well. Arty always seems to have a cold. Must be from the chills he's always getting.
