I've actually made tempura eggs before! The trick is to freeze them soft boiled. It sets up the whites just enough so that they don't melt and keep their shape. quick edit: VERY soft boiled. Just barely enough to cook the outer part of the egg white just enough to be solid
Why can’t tempura be made with completely hard boiled eggs? It will be soft inside and crunchy outside, I think. As a matter of fact, a hard boiled egg can be sliced thickly into 2-3 round slices and then each slice can be separately used for making tempura, I think.
@@priyankareddy4582 Of course, but usually what people are specifically wanting is a crunchy outside and the gooey middle. If it's cooked too much before fried, it'll end up hard cooked, which may be undesirable to some people making these. It's personal preference. It's also possible to overcook eggs. It's still probably good, but not the result I personally want if I'm going through the trouble of making tempura eggs.
Your English is improving so rapidly. I often forget you didn't grow up speaking it every day. I highly doubt I would do so well if I moved to Japan. Yet another thing to admire about you.
i noticed that too! i was so happy (for her more than anything i understood either way) watching her videos now with such great subtitles! english is hard, so i'm proud she's getting the weird english rules down now that she's got the basics down. well done, keep it up!!!!
I moved here in japan when I was 15 it took me almost a year to be fluent, some say I became fluent very fast, maybe because I had to talk to teachers and make conversation most of the time? I think that helped
In Mexico we have a similar dish like the creamy corn cabbage rolls, the rolls are the same but it’s with thick tomato sauce and no cheese gratin🥰🥰 it’s nice to see some recipes repeat themselves in different cultures
Swedes do cabbage rolls too but we tend to fry them with a bit of golden sirup and a thin gravy flavored with soy sauce. Some put rice in the meat as well so weirdly they are almost more "Asian" than the dish presented here when it comes to ingredients and flavor profile, sort by accident since I am sure the one that invented them had no intention of making an Asian-inspired dish, just make a tasty one.
they are also a thing in Poland! They are called golabki (which translated to "little pigeons", so cute). Also with tomato sauce, and you can have them filled with rice/buckwheat or meat. So delicious, especially when the cabbage skins are the pickled kind!
In Russia, they are called “golubtzy” - also “pigeons”, like in Poland. No tomato sause, just a meat filling mixed with rice, and plain cabbage leaves (or at least that’s how my grandma always cooked them). So cool that there are variations of cabbage rolls in many cultures!
The cabbage rolls started out looking a lot like gołąbki (polish stuffed lettuce) and made me so hungry. All the food made me hungrier each minute! Bacon wrapped corn is something my family does often! We use full sized corn cobs, but it looks so cute with the baby corn! (Like little ice cream cones).
Hello Imamu! Amazing video! About the first dish, to prevent the egg from defrosting so fast, I recommend you to put the frozen eggs in cold water for a moment (cold water will be warmer than the egg's freezing point temperature so it could actually thaw the eggs slowly just so you can peel them easily), and to put the batter in the fridge for a while so it's cold and won't add heat to the egg, keeping everything cold will help the eggs maintain their cold temperature. Once they're covered in the cold batter you could put them in the freezer again just for a small moment to make sure they're not defrosting/to avoid defrosting, then put them in the hot oil right away (beware of splashing😧😧😧) The eggs you made look amazing and I'm sure they tasted amazing as well ❤️ I just thought of this tips that might help prevent the defrosting of the eggs, I haven't tried these tips but I hope they're helpful ❤️🙌🏻
My favourite thing about the way you cook, is that sometimes things don't go as planned but you stick with it and still try your best to make it work. It's very genuine and realistic - we all just trying to make it work. I get the giggles when things like the eggs don't quite end up as you intended. 😅😋
Oh! we have similar dish to cabbage rolls in Poland, it's called "gołąbki" (doves :D) and they're stuffed with minced meat and rice, served usually with tomato souce.
Thank you for showing and working through your troubles with the tempura eggs. Makes things more relatable. There are a lot of videos that only show the perfect works but not many that show what the reality can be. :)
Your videos give me so much comfort, I usually unwind having dinner watching your videos and it feels so warm and soothing. So far my favourite is the one with the 'Existential Crisis' Smile Potatoes, they're so cute! Thanks for the new upload, and Happy New Year to you and your family! 💖💖💖
I love how sometimes it doesn't work exactly like you expected but you press on and get it done anyway. Thanks for showing all of the parts not just the ones that worked out beautifully! Love your channel
As others have suggested, soft-boiling before frying will help solve this problem. Or, if you decide to just freeze them again, maybe try what I do to get the shells off: I whack them on the counter, then roll the eggs firmly back and forth on the counter top to crack the shell and easily peel it off.
Whoah, your girl appreciate your preparation very much. Her response is just precious. Another beautiful video from Imamu in 2023. Wishing you and family a great and wonderful year ahead.
Every culture cooks some of the same foods in different ways. Love it. Definitely going to cook the porkchup with sliced pork. Yum! Thanks, Imamu!! Happy, healthy, gainful, prosperous and purposed filled trip around the sun in 2023 to you and your family. Happy Lunar New Year to all.
Your creamy corn cabbage roll dish reminds me of a dish I made with my mom and grandma. We mix ground pork and ground beef, add seasoning, add equal part white rice, and then wrap in the leaves. Then they are browned in a frying pan and simmer until tender in tomato sauce. These are both similar to golabkis- what I know as a Polish dish. We saute the cabbage scraps in butter and serve with egg noodles. Mmmm. Thank you for all your videos, it is amazing to watch you. Wishing the best to you and your family ❤
Poles have come up with another upgraded version: instead of wrapping meat in cabbage leaves, you chop them and add to the meat, and then you put the meatballs in a baking dish, pour over the tomato sauce and bake them. It is a good alternative for using inner cabbage leaves which are small and not as good for wrapping as the outer ones ;)
This is what I call a perfect end to my day: seeing Imamu-san and her adorable family, and knowing how to cook these amazing dishes. ❤️ Happy New Year, Imamu-san. May it be filled with happiness, success, and plenty more bento!
When Imamu posts you know it's going to be an excellent day! Extremely wholesome and every husbento looked super tasty! I really want to try tempura eggs now.
Your videos always inspire me to be more creative! I love watching them while I eat, and always get new ideas, or be fascinated by the ones you come up with :)
Omigosh what a coincidence!! I just made Cabbage rolls this past Friday because I hadn't made it for a while and my boyfriend has been encouraging me to try cooking again! It was so tasty, and a lot of work lol! I hope your family appreciates the effort you put into making such tasty meals as much as we appreciate watching your videos!
Maybe this is just me but I would LOVE a compilation of your fried foods. They always look delicious and sound amazing when you’re prepping the bread crumbs and frying. Great video as always!
Happy new year Imamu! May your 2023 be filled with happiness 🥰 thank you for sharing a little piece of your world with us, it is very comforting and always makes me want to learn to cook more!
Another great video. Thankyou so much for sharing your family time with us. It's so special ♥️ Your husband is a very deep thinker. I like how he said no more no less. Lol. Your daughter has gotten so big since the first time I watched a year ago. ♥️ So special. Keep up the great work as a mother and wife. Happy new year.
Amazing videos as always! Watching you cook is like going back to Japan just for a short time. I was born and raised on Okinawa, I left in 89 and still miss it to this day.
I know you weren't thrilled with the tempura eggs but I would eat a dozen of those they looked delicious! This is my go to channel when insomnia is taking over my life. Always brings a smile!
Happy, happy new year! Seeing your family so happy always fills me with joy, and the varied food you cook is so inspiring. I'm wishing you and your family a wonderful start to the next year!
I made the cabbage rolls without the corn soup added. We used a teaspoon of tsuyu per person for the extra flavor and it was AMAZING. So simple in instructions and ingredients. Thank you, Imamu ❤

I love your home meal videos they give me inspiration to cook more wholesome foods for my family. I also love seeing you and your family share precious moments around the dinner table 🥰
My mom always lectures me about learning to cook for my husband and I didn’t really listen to her but after watching your videos and seeing the love you put in and it looks so beautiful! I have a boyfriend now and Ima going to do this for him as an act of love!❤️ mhm maybe not everyday every now and then for now lol.
Happy new year! Hope that you’re family is doing well and staying healthy! My dad sends his well wishes too and hopes your daughters sweet joyful heart stays with her always
A trick I've learned when it comes to coring a cabbage or lettuce, is to bang it on the table core side down pretty hard. Just give it a twist after that and it'll come right out! Love your videos! You have such a happy family dynamic, it's wonderful to see!
Happy New Year! Just a tip on the tempura eggs, refreeze after you take the shell off. This way they'll go back to workable frozen, or soft boil ahead of time and freeze.
I REALLY enjoy watching your family time. In the Middle East, we really enjoy stuffed cabbage too and we stuff other vegetables as well. We call them MAHSHEE.
Happy New Year, imamu! You and your family are such a breath of fresh air. I’m a busy high school student and cooking is my outlet. Thank you for giving me so many good ideas. I hope the Imamu family has a happy and healthy 2023.

Happy New Year to you and your LOVELY family. It has been a fun year watching your new clips, so glad you add more of your family appearances, it makes the vdo soo lively and enjoyable 🥰
Thank you for opening my eyes to all these new Japanese style foods! When ever i looked up Japanese recipes i found the basic Ramen, Miso soup, tempora, sushi, the stereotypical stuff! Im wanna try so many new foods now! Thank you
My boyfriend and I always get excited for your new videos! We're currently watching your old videos to fill the time until your next one! Your channel is so great thanks for the wholesome content!
Happy New Year! A very enjoyable video, as always. Also, I want to thank you. Recently, I made a recipe that had to be deep fried. I never deep fried anything before, but because I watch your videos, I knew exactly what to do, so it turned out very well 😊 I also used the powder you use to make the oil solid, so it is easier to throw away. So even if you don't realize it, you are teaching people to cook!
Ohh cabbage rolls, those are so good!! My family usually calls them halupki and we put rice and ground meat in them! I should really try and make some one day~ Your food always looks so delicious!
It made me smile when your daughter was watching your husband play video games. I used to watch my sister play that very same game when I was younger. 😊
I made your corn stove rice, cod cutlets and spinach and cucumber salad from previous videos... they were all so delicious and I've already made the rice again 😋 happy new year to you and yours, Imamu!
In Poland we often eat cabbage rolls with a simple tomato sauce. It's delicious. 😊 But I will definitely try it your way the next time I make them. Thanks for the idea. 😉
Happy, Happy New Year〜 2023🐰‼︎‼︎

soaking the eggs on hot water for 8 mins should work. imamu sometimes does that for her very soft boiled eggs

Thanks for the tips, I live in tropical area so frozen food melts way too fast and I kinda gave up on the egg tempura, but I'll try again.

I have had a tough week. Your video gave me hope again and restored my faith in humanity.
Love your videos! And love how your husband and daughter were playing Legend of the Mystical Ninja. I loved that game when I was little!
食べたい!いつもきれいで美味しそうなハス弁当を作っています。
Normally I don't like children but your daughter makes me smile.
Love your videos and props for husbento! He’s playing Chopin. It was so nice to hear
"Make sense? GO" on the meltdown eggs gave me a good chuckle, thank you 😄
It made me smile when your daughter was watching your husband play video games.
