    I've been snap hooking so badly this entire Michigan golf season. This is the first video I've seen on where the hands exit through the swing. I'm throwing the club out like you were demonstrating at 2:51. I started doing that to get rid of my slice and now I cant hit one. I'm sure when I go to try this at the range, it will straighten my path out. I can't wait to try it.

      It will definitely help with the hook. Start with small swings focusing on the exit and build it up! Let me know how you get on!

    I've seen this great lesson about 10 times now. Every time, it's a learning experience. Just when I think I understand it...nope. The best that I can come up with so far is that this is "somewhat" similar to a whip (I have to try to think in some way that my talentless brain can understand this), where the club is geared downward toward a target much LOWER than the ball, and suddenly the hands will stop going down to that imaginary spot and begin to go left, inward and up slightly. That's what we do when we crack a whip, we push our hands away as if they are going to continue, KNOWING, there will be a sudden change in direction. This has helped me in my last few rounds and definitely on the driving range (tough to take this concocted swing thoughts on the course). If this doesn't help anyone, I'm not surprised. That's why you have Tru's Jon Watts, he will. Thanks for posting.

      Great analogy with the whip! I filmed this also on a similar subject ua-cam.com/video/qfCh0UsYRuI/v-deo.html 👍🏻

    good one Jon ...I struggled for a long time with my hand position 'cos I'd seen a Hogan video where he brought the right elbow down at 90° ...this prevented me from turning the torso as I was fixated on getting the clubhead to the ball from an overly elevated P6 (last parallel)...your advice to get hands low is spot on

    Brilliant video this is given me more forward shaft lean at impact. Can you please show how you release the club after impact please nice to know your version on the roll release or the body release and what i should be working on. Also can shallowing the club in transition cause you to come to far from the inside and cause fat and thin shots. Thanks

    Jon, greetings from Texas. This hand path has really started to work for me. Great ball striking and high straight shots. One thing I find I must do is when I set my hands in the back swing I set only the right wrist (right handed) so my left wrist is always flat or slightly bowed. Only then does the club square up. The right wrist set will slightly set the left wrist but not creat any cupping in the left. Thanks.

    • @TruGolfAcademy

      It’s a real key move, glad it’s made sense!

    Great videos! I really believe this rotational swing is the way to go. Much less timing to worry about. I do believe that in a full swing centrifugal force will rotate the face as well. The key becomes wrist position at impact.

      Yep, decided to go that way as well, but will need the entire winter to work on it. Always relied on rhythm, tempo and timing, but that formula is breaking down as I'm getting older.

    Been struggling with heel strikes with all clubs inc shanking irons. Have been working on this 'drill' and this is the clearest video I have found on the subject, really changing my game. Thanks.

    Worked on this drill yesterday with all my clubs. Hit lots of pulls and pull hooks. Don't know why. My balance at the finish was a lot better and I seemed to rotate better.

    • @TruGolfAcademy

      I would think the club was outside hands in downswing. Feel a in to in path (arc) rather than out to in.

    Thanks Jon this maybe very crucial for me to be more consistent on contact. My question is once the hands reach the last parallel then everything needs to be rotating together(the hips, the body, the hands and the club)?

    • @TruGolfAcademy
      @TruGolfAcademy  7 років тому

      Effectively yes, the feeling should be your belly button moving up and left.

  • @johnt6810

    I cant believe how much I am hitting off the toe when I do this. I think the motion of hands moving up and around is bring the clubface inside for a toe hit. Do you have any thoughts how to counter this toe hit?

    • @TruGolfAcademy
      @TruGolfAcademy  2 роки тому

      May we’ll be your head moving away from the ball into impact. Early extending? Or are the arms too bent . Both should be fully extended just post impact. Happy to help with an online lesson 👍🏻

    Hello Jone, since i see the logo on your glove almost facing the camera at P7, i guess your grip is strong, isnt it? If i have a grip little strong or neutral, the left wrist is more bowed at that point? Practising bowing of the wrist and pulling the left hand to the left is killing me; the club sometime falls out of the hand at P9 in an attemp to follow swing circle and recock for finish...

    • @TruGolfAcademy
      @TruGolfAcademy  6 років тому +1

      My left hand is marginally strong at address. You could expect a stronger grip to create more bowing of the wrist yes.

    When u swing left hand only it looks like the thumb is behind or on the back of the shaft at impact. Is this what we want?

    • @TruGolfAcademy
      @TruGolfAcademy  2 роки тому

      Definitely by the time you get to right arm parallel to the ground on the through swing

    I would like to get my hands in closer but I will have to wait before I can get them much closer due to being a bit biggish at the moment.

      Focus on rotation through impact to allow your arms to move in around your body 👍

  • @stashthevampede0
    @stashthevampede0 7 років тому +2

    In order to reach the lowest point do the hands pull *only* straight down?

    • @TruGolfAcademy
      @TruGolfAcademy  7 років тому +1

      Never pull down, allow your arms to fall as your body rotates, hips before torso

    the move is like a ski boat pulling a skier make an abrupt left turn with the boat------skier really goes fast

    Gosh how in the heck do I get my body, hands to do this during the swing which happens really fast? I am doing it completely wrong.

      Use exercises like this to break down the swing of this is an area needed.

  • @cn7358
    @cn7358 7 років тому +1

    You should swing normal then slow the frames down replay it for us to see, otherwise it is too fast to see what your actual swing looks like comparing to what you teach.
