Omg I’m not crying!! You are such a mom!! Well, a mom like me anyway!! I was never one to tell my kids 18 and you’re out! I was a single mom of 2 kids and told them they could live with me forever!!! Love seeing you and mom together and your bond is awesome!! It’s never easy working with anyone but you get the cherished memories of working with your mommy!!! Love you both!!
LOL! I love your message. I love the precious time that I have shared working my business with my mom. She's the best. We work so well together probably because I'm the boss, haha. My kids can also live with me forever too. I can't imagine being a single mom so hats off to you. My husband does so much for us I don't know what I would do without him.
That’s a lot of warm heads coming this season ❤ what about index cards in a little file box if you prefer paper inventory, you could have one card per design/size etc, mum is a sweetie, wonder what her step count was this day 😂
Thank you for the idea. My mom has always been full of energy, lol. She used to go to the gym up until my stepdad needed full time care. I appreciate your comment and your support. Have a great day!
Thank you so much for the sweet comment and the big hugs. I'll take them. Life is not always butterflies and rainbows that's for sure. I appreciate you more than you know. Have a great day.
Your mom is a treasure. I just love her. She reminds my of my gramma. I would invite her over when I needed someone to keep me on task as well. She always did. And we had so much fun along the way.
Thank you so much. She really is and I appreciate her love and support so much. She's always been a force of nature, and I love working my business with her.
So nice of you to be vulnerable and welcome us into your house. Your mother is so lovely and professional (do that inventory!) I just want to give her a fist bump!
Hello my fellow buckeye. I appreciate your comment. My business has been a labor of love for me which makes it easier to work so hard. I work more than I should especially now that I'm doing UA-cam videos too. But I love every second of it. I wish you well with your business. Have an amazing day!
This was a great video! Thanks for sharing with us. Wishing your daughter and Mr. Max a great college year. We adopted a Persian who had also been a college kitty. Same for your son, so good to have a great momma. Suggestion on inventory: make stickers for your bins with dates to mark when you’ve inventoried. That way you know which are done and when was last time you reviewed contents. I would avoid sticky notes, they can fall off. Match sticker coding to your notes. For example, Girls Small = GS. I’m a data person, analyst in fact, so I would suggest a spreadsheet, but also understand if you’re more comfortable with manual notes. 💛 Good to see your Mom join, too!
Thank you so much for your sweet and supportive comment. I would love to do better with a spreadsheet, lol. Maybe I need to try again. I'll take all the suggestions I can on inventory. It's the one part of my business I hate, lol.
I love it that your mom helps you with the inventory. It is tough when the kids move away. I'm in SC and I have one still at home, 1 in Virginia, 1 in England and 2 in the Philippines
Thank you for your comment. My mom is such a big help. She's the best. It has been hard with my daughter moving to college. I can't imagine how hard it must be to have your kids all over. How often do you see them?
Hi April! You are an inspiration to me. I don't do markets nor do I have an Etsy shop, but I'm making as many plushies as I can between now and December for charitable donations. Sometimes I feel stressed about it, but overall I love making these cute animals and dolls. I really enjoyed seeing how you and your Mom worked together. You're very fortunate to have a mom who can help you. Say hi to her for me. I live in the metro Atlanta area and have lived here almost all my life - 75 years! Good luck on all your makes. They're all so cute!
You are so sweet. Thank you so much for your comment which gives me so much inspiration. Please don't stress out about doing the thing you love. Crochet actually destresses me, but I know what you mean wanting to finish items. I am so blessed and appreciate all of the precious time I have working with my mom. I miss how much time we used to have before my stepdad started needing her full-time care.
Hi April! I'm from Minnesota. I'm working on two blankets that I'm trying to get done for Christmas. One of them is nearly finished, and the other one is about half done. I loved watching your video. That's quite a task you took on with inventory.😘🤗❤️
Hello in Minnesota! I love making blankets. I hope to have more time to do that one day. Thank you so much for watching my video and supporting my channel. It means the world to me. Have a great day!
WOW, April... THAT is A LOT of HATS, - oh my goodness... Not only that you have to finish 130, - how many were already finished? There must have been hundreds, right? I felt the stress that you talked about, while looking at all of the work. It is amazing that you (with your mom) have made that many over the years AND many, many more of course, - since you already have sold a whole bunch. Between the stress I felt yesterday with all my problems editing my video when everything "fell apart" and the stress watching all of your hats, I think I may have gotten an ulcer. I'm just joking of course, but I kind of feel soooo tired from yesterday, puh... That being said, - I love all of these hats, - especially I think I must be a real owl-lady, because I love them so much. It may of course be since I made two of them myself hehe... I also love the collaboration you have with your much, - that must be precious, and how nice that you can talk to your son in the car. I think many parents find it difficult to find the arenas to really talk to their kids, and it is so important. And then... your cat, - your precious cat leaving you. Having to let go of two of your "children" at the same time, and without a notice for the second one, - puh... I guess it takes a toll on you. Well, - good luck, and relax and think about that your daughter will do her best to take care of your cat ❤ And with the speed that you have completing the unfinished hats, you'll be done in no time, - a couple of weeks at the most, I guess.
Linda, I just love your heart so much. You are so sweet to comment on so many things about my video. I would literally have to take notes to remember everything, lol. You are just so amazing. I hope you are figuring out the editing and file storage on your computer. Just so you know you will be in my video on Friday so stay tuned.
My Momma heart aches for you this week (both my human mom heart and my dog/cat mom heart)! I work at a university in Wisconsin (NOT the one in Madison :-P) and regularly help with move-in day so I've seen first-hand how emotional moving your child into college can be. I'm just a few years away from that moment myself and I'm dreading it! I use Square for my own inventory but it definitely takes discipline to keep it updated. I've tried to make it my rule that once I tag it, it goes into my Square inventory. I'm far from perfect in the process but all we can do is our best, right? This late summer/fall time is so busy for all of us as small crochet business owners. Helps to think that we're in this together. You've got this! 💪💕
Thank you so much for your very sweet and supportive comment. Moving my daughter and cat to college has been so hard. Her not being home has given me an eye twitch I'm pretty sure. It's driving me crazy. Inventory is definitely the bane of my existence, lol. I love knowing that I'm not alone right now. I'm so dang busy trying to prep for my shows coming up. Good luck to you at your shows this year. I hope you do awesome. You deserve it.
WOW!! So many hats!!! And you sure kept your mom busy :) I miss vending with my daughter, and we've pretty much never lived more thn 5 miles apart, give or take, in all her 39 years. But she moved half way cross the country 2 years ago (and since then has blessed me with my first granddaugfhter, after being blessed with 2 grandsons) Neither one of us can afford to visit each other, so it's been hard on both of us. But SOMEDAY I will be (hopefully) be moving there also, and we can start vending again together. It's a joy to see others like yourself, that can have your mom (or in some cases a daughter) helping in your business! Oh! I also like seeing end of video Bloopers! We're all human after all :)
Thank you so much for your comment. I loved reading about you and your family. I'm so sorry you 2 are apart. That has to be so hard. My mom used to be a snowbird in the winter so we would go all winter without seeing each other. I hated it, but now she's home FT in Ohio. She doesn't get to help me in person as much and that's hard, but that's life right now. She still helps me, but it's just different now. Oh, & I love that you commented about the bloopers, lol.
Hi April! Say you need to have your daughter watch max if he's not eating or drinking water. You need to bring him back home. Especially if he's never been away from home before. My son took his dog to his apartment after college. And he wouldn't eat or drink because he was so home sick. And he was 8 yrs old. Just a heads up.
I know what you mean. I miss Max so much. It's been really hard. She had me bring more food to her on Saturday and I got to see him. He's doing ok. I know him being there is more for my daughter to have him there. It's kind of sad, but I'm trying to be supportive.
Shocked at how many hats! ! You are busy. Glad your daughter will be reasonably close. Next year my granddaughter, who lives by you, will be starting college. She is looking at schools in OH,PA, and IN, so far. What’s your first market? 0:18
Hi April! I’m a fairly new subscriber and enjoy your channel! My kids are 23 and 19 and I really relate to your feelings on sending them away to college. I swear it never gets easier. I don’t know how I would react if they took my dog too! 😱😅 All of your inventory is amazing! I look forward to seeing your market! Have a great day!
Welcome to my channel. I'm so glad you are here. It has been a rough couple of weeks, and I've developed an eye twitch! It's not great. I miss my kitty, but I'm trying to be supportive. My daughter has anxiety and depression and deals with a lot with having Crohn's Disease. The cat gives her love and structure. He keeps her in her dorm studying.
Wow 🤩 I’m amazed at how many hats you have crocheted! I love making hats… can I ask where did you get your unicorn hat pattern from? I’d love to make some of these for a craft fair in the UK for the little girls
Thank you so much! All of the hat patterns are mine. I'm hoping to write more and publish more next year so stay tuned. I'm going to focus on publishing next year and not market prepping. It's bittersweet.
I have a few patterns on Etsy. They would all fit your 6-10-year-old. After market season I'm going to take a deep dive into publishing more hats with multiple sizes. Thank you so much for your comment and for your support.
❤my daughters moving into college for her sophomore year😢I'm always the last one in bed too and I can't go to sleep unless I text her goodnite love u and she responds 😂

Give yourself some grace. You are doing amazing and you have so much going on. What an emotional time. Sending big hugs from Canada. ❤
Thank you so much for the sweet comment and the big hugs. I'll take them. Life is not always butterflies and rainbows that's for sure. I appreciate you more than you know. Have a great day.
I like that you number your videos. Much easier to find it if I need to stop watching for any reason. Thank you for sharing. 😊
You are so nice. Thank you always giving feedback!

Love your mom! She reminds me so much of how my mom was! Mom was like the energizer bunny lol
My mom has always been a force of nature. I used to say she ran circles around us all of the time.
So nice of you to be vulnerable and welcome us into your house. Your mother is so lovely and professional (do that inventory!) I just want to give her a fist bump!
She would love that! Thank you for your sweet comment and for supporting my channel. You are amazing!
Wow, you have some major inventory 😮 how fortunate to have your Mom helping you ❤ all of your hats are amazing 🎉
Thanks for sharing 😊
The funny thing is I don't feel like I have that much this year, but I'm working on it now.
I'm also from Ohio! Love your channel and all your creations. I aspire to be as successful as you with my small business!

Hello from UK, I really enjoyed watching this video. You look so different with your hair up….looks smashing!
Oh thank you! I hate my hair up, lol. But honestly my hair itches me constantly, lol. It makes no sense.

I love your crochet cat the best I’ve seen. Are they on Etsy? I like that you crochet the eyes.
Yes, the cat hat is on Etsy, but not the pattern. If you are looking for patterns stay tuned as I want to start publishing patterns early next year.

I'm not a knitter, but I'm sure you can find some patterns somewhere.
3:59 it is so hard to balance market/store prep and online orders 😅😅 ugh I need a project a manager 😂

I completely understand that. I think I've developed and eye twitch since she moved out. It's killing me. I keep checking her location on her phone.
I am SO BEHIND, April! I’m so sorry! Did the summer go ok? Shoot me an email /message when you have a minute; we need to catch up! Hugs to you 🧡 xx
I hope you are well. Life is busy and it's about to get busier as I have 5 weekends of shows starting in the next 2 weeks. 9/15/24. Talk soon!
