I am commenting long after the filming of this video, but I am so impressed, Both with the young men and the elder sharing some good times. You showed how you do the flint and steel rather than showing them the “right way”... great job, Andy. They had a fire ready in the morning and so many great ideas. I wonder what they are up to now.
What an awesome camp site for Ben & Lewis Bushcraft and your overnight stay, Andy. Their workmanship is first class and set up for comfort. I love their cabin's fire place and the use of clay for wattle and daub which should provide them with a warm and cosy place to live in once they have more or less completed their tasks regardless of the season of the year. I'm suitably impressed all round. Thanks for sharing. Take care...
Thanks for a great visit to two new (to us) bushcraft/camp crafters! They have made a very atmospheric cabin in a beautiful bit of British woodland. The roof will look 'champion' with more mossing. And the moss will have some composted leaves to grow on as well. As for video: I loved the ancient/new technology contrast of the natural fire and the solar-powered, fan driven pellet/twig stove. Each has its time and place in our outdoor arsenal!
I'm sitting out back enjoying enjoying adult beverages around the fire and cooking in the cast iron dutch oven....what a perfect video to go along with this night! Much enjoyed!
This is self education in the realest sense. Trail and error in nature with raw materials providing so much fun, achievement and satisfaction. Brilliant to see, thank you.
Nice video Andy. It's nice to see that the younger generation doing the bush craft thing, and building and adapting to there surroundings. Really nice video.
These guys need a YT channel, great viddy Andy, so nice to see young people doing good with their lives, brilliant little set up they have there, look forward to seeing more if they start a channel up. Cheers for bringing us along on your meet up. Lee (Burton Outdoors)
Burton Outdoors hi Lee, lewis here! We really enjoyed having Andy come along to visit and make this awesome video of the cabin! Thanks for the kind words! 👍
Cheers Andy! Nice video, really like Ben and Lewis’ cabin - I’m going to have to investigate this instagram thing so I can see what else they’ve been doing! Thanks for sharing! Atb, Simon.
Excellent video, very impressive cabin good to see natural bushcraft skills on show ,I do hope these young lads get a you tube channel up and running ,a thank you to yourself andy for introducing these lads to us viewer's very enjoyable video thanks for sharing ♠
Norman scout 1 hello, lewis here! Thanks for the comment! We really appreciate the positive response to the cabin! We hope you enjoyed seeing it and well done to Andy for capturing it perfectly on camera! :)
Wotcha! nice to see you in Norfolk Andy. I hope Ben and Lewis start a UA-cam channel as they have some good skills to show. Hope to see you at Edale. Atb Carlos
Why can’t people live like this for real if they want..instead people must be slaves to the establishment. Simple little wooden huts ,better then the streets. I expect they had to get permission to do this unless,it’s a private wood. Lovely little gem in though . Getting back to basics..raw natural lifestyle, good for the soul. Doing no harm to anyone..too much red tape theses days. Great work boys.
you would never get permission for that in the UK. there are too many people and not enough space for everyone to do it. if you want to build something like this you just have to do it and hope nobody reports you (somebody will, there is always a dog walker who thinks that they know best)
I couldn't agree more, we are just too over populated in the UK now and every inch of the island is owned by someone. This project was started without permission but eventually the owner of the land was discovered and permission sought retroactively which is a nice surprise, happy for the lads.
You can live like that for real. You just gotta move to somewhere like Siberia or Alaska first. only 10% of the U K is woodland. compared to a European average of 40%. Thats why i voted leave. In the southeast we dont really have a countryside, we have a farmside. Down off my soap box.
You can if you buy your own land . Check out UA-camr Kris Harbour , he sold his flat in London and bought a plot of land in wales far cheaper and he’s built his own home out of wood and cob , dug a lake , has a natural spring so always has fresh clean water , he’s built a work shed , started building a massive workshop , planted 2500 trees , installed solar power and a micro hydro electric system , he’s living without paying bills ... I know you mean people should be allowed to live totally wild if they want and they should , once it was the only way people lived , so sad that we have all become slaves to the system .
Andy you've got to do more of these, you seem to be a good interviewer / "presenter" for this type of video. The guys were pretty relaxed with you but you managed to get lots of info out of them
Good stuff. I would be worried however, about sparks from the chimney catching the roof alight. Maybe extend it above the ridge line of the roof and/ or use a spark arrestor. :)
Yes guys, the cabin is in Norfolk, Its been pretty wet but I think that is being taken in to consideration.. the chimney is a very new addition, thanks for watching guys
nice chaps them Ben & Lewis - and a lovely cabin. Good work on teh fire place. Was just wondering why they were sleeping under hammocks when they have an entire cabin to sleep in - hahaha Excellent work on the claytechnic and use. Well done!! I'd consider addi9ng some higher chimney to the fireplace. If you get lots of sparks coming out you could easily set the roof or surroundings on fire, especially in dry summertimes. Can never be too carefull with that. Oh and at the bridge, I was thinking, if you leave those walkingbeams rounded at the top yuou can easily slip in with weather and break a leg there. I'd flatten them a bit or do something else to make it rougher and give more grip... just some thoughts... loved to watch you guys at work! Thanks for sharing!
that an cabin door shatter is exactly like what people of Nuba Mountains in Sudan use d anlliantd still do today,, absolutely brilliant. Have you ever been there?!
Very good I like the little cabin and the fan stove is cool. I hope to get some land to do things like this in the future. Thanks for the vid I like it.
Ive seen alot of bushcraft chanels but yours is done right. One thing concerns me ive been told there are alot of snallygasters in your part of the forest please be carefull
Great vid Andy.... Dammit! all this kit and stuff I now want or have got over the past 2 years after watching these kinds of vids.... lol. My Wife now hates me... ;)

Good job on the cabin boys, im assuming they'll be monitoring the comments. Nice to see some younger people into the whole outdoors thing. i'd be interested to see if the clay stays put? or comes off in a big rain storm? You let someone else cook for you? Did they realise you were the bushcraft Jamie Oliver? Good bit of filming andy. Catch you on the next one. Gary
Gary Herts wildcamper Hello, Lewis here! Firstly, thanks very much! The clay on the walls dries out nicely and the other walls have lasted about 6 months I've winter with no issues so it's all good! Thanks for the comment! Really appreciated! 👍🌲

NO CABINS TO BE BUILT IN THE KINGS FOREST.
Watch out for the sheriff of Nottingham.
The boys have done a nice job on that little cabin, I much prefer to see something like that than some of the 'forts' people put their efforts into

I knew what the owl was during your night time filming, but I had no idea what the other call was. I had to look up muntjac deer because I never heard of them before. Wow, a deer that calls out like that is crazy (whitetail deer here in Pennsylvania don't do anything like that).
That cabin and the fireplace they have inside of it is awesome.
