I did exactly what you recommended to a lighter that hardly worked for 6 months. I even bought a can of air. The lighter works as good as ever. Thanks for the right procedure. Dave
My SO gave me the cutest "convenience store" butane lighter, and I really like it for the nice butterfly design it has Do I bought a can of Ronson butane to refill it.ive watched like 3 videos just now trying to get it filled so it will work. While I got a few tips and info it still wasn't lighting properly....until I watched yours! And once I cleaned off the area where the flame comes out it is suddenly working great! I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to post this video and to let you know you helped me out, because now I can use it! And I must have wasted half a can of fuel, but that's okay. You rock! Thanks again!🤘👍👍👍👍👍
Hey James took your advice, and bought better butane. I bought the brand Vector. Did what you showed, and all my lighters work great again. Thanks man!!
Hi there I miss Emily four-year-old grandma great-grandma have Rena things to do in my life get pretty bored and it's out maybe I can fix and repair lighters torches😅 well anyway where I live a much-needed repair.
Anyway I thought maybe I could do little sideline fixing things for four people on this a little bit of cash not much just yet by helping somebody else out
The best Butane and the best price is for winter mix blend (n-butane/iso-butane/propane) from camping stove canisters such as MSR, Brunton, Primus, Peak, etc. You can use them to refill lighters if you obtain something like the Soto canister adapter that cost around $12.00.
Nice to hear that you're a pipe smoker. I recently purchased a £20 pipe lighter from davidoff of london, just now I seemed to almost set my hand on fire. The clicker seemed to be faulty, thus I used another lighter to see if I could light this lighter and whoom a huge flame. In another lighter I would simply replace the flint. What would I do instead with this type of lighter? I'm not too sure how clear I am, so please feel free to ask me questions providing your willing to help. Many Thanks
butane lighters use a piezoelectric ignition. that means the spark comes from a quartz crystal that gets squeezed. so if there is no spark, empty the lighter and take it apart. there should be something right under your button that you can remove, usually a black plastic rectangle. just flip that around and it should spark again. but if your lighter does spark, just doesn't ignite, that means the gas is moving too fast for ignition, or is displacing too much oxygen for ignition. try turning your valve down.
I've been through 3 xikars, got a vector valor and love it. No problems with zippo butane. You wouldn't happen to know how to make the flame straight would you?
Yeah I know that when I found out to i know cans like wd40 has about 90 lbs if air to push the fluid out , seen. Video on how to refill a can that is full but no pressure but I feel like it’s because that can so small. I use a yellow can called clipper it’s about 9-10 floz for $2.25 and has 5 plastic adapters and a cool rubber part in the lid. But nice video I hate the ronson fluid
I use the tip of the nail file on nail clipper's to adjust the flame. I've used the chech tool for purging. The nail file too. Small screwdriver too. Flat tip
the only worry is that you will clog an expensive lighter. i had a ronson lighter for like 8 bucks so no shits given. now that i have a lotus lighter i care a little more. either way if the stogie gets lit its a good day. side note if i had to choose between my fancy ass lighter and matches id pick matches. its just very windy in my city so when im outside i use a torch and inside i use matches. cheers!
Ronson butane worked fine in my Vector... for about 4 months. I thought the lighter was just going bad. Now it won't light at all, or even allow the entry of fuel, due to the massive amount of junk inside the torch. The cleaner fuel is definitely the way to go.
is there any butane that specifically made for jet lighter? I cant seem make my lighter work! it looks like it doesnt have enough pressure inside so the flame is weak not coming out like jet anymore. did everything such bled out the gas, turned the dial down, madee sure fill it downward direction. Still doesnt work. I used premium butane by Colibri.
the lighter was fine until I went through all the procedure of refilling. just bugs me out that I never succeeded refill a jet lighter even my Dupont Maxijet. Thank you for your reply. :)
Ronson is a Zippo product it states it right on the can. I dont know why it would be any lower quality. I saw somewhere that the fuel they use when making lighters at the factory is different, mixed with propane or something so it burns better. What a waste of money, ive got a huge bottle of Ronson fuel. I also have some butane fuel by merae but its for a different purpose, campstoves probably, and the tip will not work with lighters but was wondering if it was better quality. Ive got dozens of these torches that Ive bought, all but one quit working as soon as I refilled them. That one is probably worth a good cleaning and trying again, I guess. Ive followed all the advice online, purging, not overfilling, cleaning the tip, adjusting the flame, checking for spark etc and none of them will light, so, you may be right, I may have to invest in some better fuel. My favorite is a Smokezilla that I got at a truck stop I know it's just a cheap torch, but its clear so I can see the butane inside and it has an adjustable head. It wont light unless I shake the crap out of it for several seconds and then adjust the flame up and down several times. Frustrating.
One would think the ronson would be the best stuff - major brand name, been around a long time. Perhaps this is the reason my refilled lighters sputter or go out before empty
Perhaps. But time was.....Ronson was a brand-name trusted in American households for many years. I suspect either quality has slipped (due to flagging sales or competition) and they aren't what they once were. I have some old Ronson lighters from my parents era - 1940's-1960's that were pretty good.
Hi i tried purging the lighter and there was no hissing noise. Then i filled it with butane but it only worked once. That also not for long the flame just died away. Any help ?
So it's the fuel - thanks! Watched a lot of vids, tried a lot of tricks per advice. Will try good fuel after watching this. Totally ironic that the Ronson butane would make a Ronson Jetlite inop.
99% certain it was the fact that they needed purged pretty badly and not the fuels. The Ronson lighter let out air for a good ten seconds meaning it wasnt taking a fuel charge for shit.
its just a basic ronson jet lighter. You can find them a lot of places like supermarkets. Or at least you could. The Xikar is an old one that they probably still make. just google the Xikar cigar lighter.

A few years ago I threw away 2 nice (£4 each back in 2005) jukebox flip-top style jet lighters with flashing lights because I was pissed off at the flames being too small once I refilled them...wish I'd not been too hasty - they're hard to find even on ebay now...and if you DO find them they're not 4 quid each anymore
I found out that if I unscrew the lil knob controlling the flame height, (all the way) it will explode butane into my face ... I survived if that's what your thinking... lol

I've read threads on puff.com where people used nothing but expensive fuel in their good lighters and had problems, used nothing but Ronson in their ronson lighters and had NO problems, people who used good fuel in ronson lighters and had problems, etc. One thing I haven't read about is ronson fuel in the good lighters that still failed. It almost seems like it's luck of the draw as far as what lighters are going to work for years and which will quit after a couple of months.
ronson lighters are made to run on ronson fuel. Lower tolerances in the lines and around the burner areas so they don't clog. Just like some cars are made to run on 87 and some need 92 octane.
True, but for many people (myself included) the problem was that my lighters weren't working because of the cheap gas in them. So I fixed the problem by putting in premium gas in!

I use a lot different fuel. I’ve found that all cans have air in it and if you can view your fuel gage just purge until it’s all liquid
yeah that helps a lot too. This old video of ronson fluid though was the worst.

nope its all the same butane. you might have a bad hose in your lighter so its not full pressure. maybe you can open it up and see the components.

Hi i tried purging the lighter and there was no hissing noise. Then i filled it with butane but it only worked once. That also not for long the flame just died away. Any help ?
Interesting. Thanks for posting.
I´m not sure you purchased the original Ronson gas since the one I purchase has always been yellow and red. Also, it works great.
yeah well this is an old video so maybe things have changed. Thanks for watching.
My lighters flame burn green. Is there a way to replace the copper coil when it gets all used up?
i don't think so.
How do you clean it ?
Thanks a bunch man!
Robert Majors yeah! thanks for watching.

Hi!
Can you please tell me a model of Ronson you show here? And the black Akar is interesting too, with side button
its just a basic ronson jet lighter. You can find them a lot of places like supermarkets. Or at least you could. The Xikar is an old one that they probably still make. just google the Xikar cigar lighter.
I don't use Roncon butting. I use the other stuff and it does well.
oh yeah. xikar or other butane
I'm assuming when you said 30 ppm...the lower the better?
vegaskt yes the lower the better
zippo butane is like 30 pph. (parts per hundred lol)
Thank you!
No problem!

is a quid a euro?
Nope it's a GBP £...1euro17 as it is now...
Had no idea that it was so bad to use. I have that in my house right now. I guess I'm gonna have to buy some better stuff.
I have a win 9500 vintage butane lighter and everytime I refuel it the gas comes out from the other screw, the one that controls flame size
oh weird
@@AM2PMReviews im not sure if i made myself clear, my english isnt great, but i was hoping you might tell me what you think this could be.

Where can I buy such "jet" butane lighters?
+Honest CigarReviews for 4 bucks I got a nice little mini Eagle torch at a corner store near me. it works pretty nice, for 4 bucks.
Literally any tobacco shop.
What's the deal with Ronson torches?
they are cheap and decent.
where did u get the black lighter
present from my parents...you can buy them anywhere..xikar cigar lighter into google and you should see it!
Do you have to purge them before filling
I recommend it.
It's the fuel.. in general the crappy stuff will have a seam up the side of the can. The premium has no seam on the side
what is seam?
i used 5x refined in my ronson jetlite and it still sputters
It might be clogged with goop
I’ve read comments they get clogged all the time.
Cool.
Where can I buy good butane?
Arthur Mik any smoke shop. I buy xikar and Newport which always work well! thanks for watching.
Arthur Mik Amazon has this Xikar stuff too
thanks! good idea! i use newport butane too!
+Honest Cigar Reviews Where the fuck i find smoke shop in my country? XD poland
i would just google, or buy butane online. i like buying it on ebay.
what about zippo is that good butane fuel yo
shirtless tom that is liquid/fluid not butane gas. It is kind of like charcoal fuel. thanks for watching
+Honest Cigar Reviews no charcoal fluid is different. actually zippo fluid is naptha...paint thinner...also zippo does make some butane lighters
You can use Coleman fluid that you would use for lanterns.
Goddamnit i've thrown so many away. I'm pissed. Thanks for sharing the knowledge tho.
sure! sub for more videos.

True, but for many people (myself included) the problem was that my lighters weren't working because of the cheap gas in them. So I fixed the problem by putting in premium gas in!
For an Honest Cigar Review that is a little disingenuous, no matter how useful advice.
yeah it wasn't genius, but it worked!
Anyone here trying fix there lighter so they can light there blunt? i am
To do a dab.
Did he just say he was having "lighter issues" lol
Does the better butane increase the heat aswel
Because if its refined to the max it will go I will be expecting a heat increase for let's say gas soldering irons what use butane
Because a lot of people said some butane gas makes there soldering irons run not as hot as if you buy more expensive gas it will make your iron run hotter and better
Can you test your shit Ronson butane vs the more pure butane what you have because
And test the heat output even tho jet lighters have high temps but the increase of pure butane may take a good jet lighter and boost it by 100% because the price you pay for good butane it would need to be very special to pay £11 for a 250ml can lol or there is no point in buying clean fuel without a heat output upgrade for gas soldering irons
Because the soldering iron I want costs £116 it has a 580 degree Celsius for the soldering tip it don't say anything about the open flame for torching stuff must be 1200 degrees might with good butane plus the soldering tips will be hotter than the 580 degree Celsius with the pure butane I think
If this is true why do people buy cheap butane
Its like nitro vs electric
Electric is better than nitro
And expensive gas has more heat and cleaner cheaper gas you can see the picture
Of what I am getting at if its true tho
I believe the "more expensive gas" you are looking for is Mapp Gas. And yes, it burns much hotter than butane. When I installed floor covering, I thought butane was all the heat I'd ever need. At my local gas station here in California a giant 5X can is only 2.50 lol
Cool
U don't think it could possibly be the fact that the ronson gas is a couple years old?? Just sayin
nope butane gas doesn't really age.
You kept the flame adjust too low.
i often fiddled with it. the cheap butane just sucks.
Flint?
musthaveV8 not for these. they use piezo sparks. thanks for watching
ha-ha-ha, tubes and pipes???? the flame is about 3 1/2 or 4 inches long??? Brother, your middle finger is about 3 1/2 inches and that flame was not even close to being as long as your finger.

yea that helps too. lighters do get clogged though.
don't put down Ronson you're just not using the spirit properly
oh yeah!
too much talking
30 parts per million of what? Air..
per butane particles. so it measures how pure the butane is.
