Love your channel. Your videos are giving me the confidence to take my own t5 out, I lost a lot of confidence last year a few months after buying it the clutch went quite spectacularly across a busy junction and my youngest child was completely traumatised and refused to ever get back in the van again. So I stopped driving it for months. I'm a widow too so it's just been a nightmare. Anyway this afternoon, my eldest daughter and I plucked up courage and drove to a local beauty spot in it and had lunch in it. So thank you so much.
I would just like to say that is the best you tube vidio i have ever watched , i have watched loads , all on van life , and the best part about it was how you explained , it all . plus the bonus side is you are British , i will enjoy the rest , i don't have a van as yet
Respect your journey . Am sure you appreciate what you have more than it being handed on a plate. We have a t4 and love her. Wouldn't update and anyway we couldn't warrant the expense. Enjoy your next adventures.
Just found your channel and subscribed. Good luck with everything you do. I've got a Ford transit custom pop top campervan. Grandchildren love going out in it and I love taking them out as my granddaughter says we are making memories grandad.
@@vanlifegoodies Thank you, yes it does , I'm 6ft 3 and was fretting that it wouldn't be long enough for a bed to fit but as I've seen it's plenty long enough. I don't like LWB I find them too awkward.
I like the start, but who are these people who say an older T4 is better than a Vivaro? I would pick the Vivaro every time and have, along with most in UK where it is number 1 and Renault Trafic number 1 for Europe. The Vivaro, is better, cheaper to buy, cheaper to fix, more reliable, better engines, better gearboxes, better bodywork. So you were misinformed, which is born out in you comments about all the repairs. Our 08 Vivaro (timing chain engine) cost £3,200 in 2016 and spent £3,000 converting it and annual repairs are pretty low. I like your style, but you chose the wrong van...but keep up these vids. "Hatchback and 2 man tent", we did the same....not much money either...and that's good. Don't dream, just go!! We are in central Portugal...and the great weather is on it's way.
Hi , thanks for your comment , it was 4 mechanics whole told me a t4 - I wonder if there just easier to work on for them , or make them more money ?! Either way I love my little van and it gives us so many memories . A vivaro would have given us a wider bed , which would have been nice . 👍
@@vanlifegoodies Your emotional attachment is a different matter and as an engineer I try to avoid such things when it comes to machines. I have owned 2 T4s which were very expensive to repair/parts. My first Vdub was a T3 water cooled and that was fun and reliable, requiring a cheap exhaust in all 5 years of ownership. VW have lost their reliability over the years since then and the Vivaro is popular now for a very good reason, it's the best, the Trafic likewise in Europe. V-dub is the definitive camper, people think of it that way, but the stats don't support that, just the image. Like I said I like your style and history, very similar to me, though I am much older. Enjoy your van, which I am sure you will and that tdi engine is the best of the bunch, I had a 2.5 5 cylinder and that was a pig. We are off to Greece next month, crossing from southern Italy, I am told it is good. But at that time of year. Bonne chance and bonne voyage..
Awesome the van looks great. I have a big admiration for people that foster kids, that’s pretty awesome too 👍🏽
Just found your channel (subscribed). This one had us feeling emotional - great video! Keep it up.
I sincerely hope you get that trip to Europe. It’s great to see you have never given up on your dream ❤

Thank you
Hi not a silly question at all . Yes it is SWB - hope that helps

I am so looking into buying a T5, but some of them have done so many kilometers that it concerns me, interiors are great bodywork great but 250km 😮
Yes , mine will be virtually a new van soon as everything’s been replaced !!
VW engines, as long as they have had regular oil changes will last a long time.
ooo you from Stockport? spotted the A6. were currently starting our Campervan Conversion adventures
Yay 🙌 Stockport’s yes 👍
Could it be worth more now. VW prices are all high now.
Yes most likely - but I won’t be selling 👍
