- This video covers every update or piece of info I could find regarding Deltarune Chapter 2 and beyond. Most of the updates were taken from Toby Fox's Twitter. If I missed anything important (which I don't think I did!), please let me know! I apologize if I skipped over some parts quite quickly - it was just for the sake of the video staying brief.
Obviously, a lot of people would have seen all of this anyway, but this should still be helpful to people who don't follow Toby Fox or just feel like they just need a recap!

The main thing I got from this is that the ending of the game is based off of a fever dream. Interesting...
I didn’t know that until I saw this video, and I can’t wait to see the ending now. I personally have had several dreams that I thought could make good books.
@@caltheuntitled8021 I definitely feel you there. Toby worries that this game might not live up to people's expectations, but if that's his source material, I doubt it will be any less than engaging.
I can understand making a whole game based off some weird dream, but making only the ending based off it? Makes me really wonder what his creative process was.
@@dotXyore I can relate to him here. I had a dream that had only a few scenes in it (people travel to place, talk with person, go on quest, meet another character in the woods) and I have since expanded it into a much longer idea that will span several books. Of course, it’s far from a complete story right now, but the basic process I used was whenever I had an idea relating to it, I would try adding it on to the existing story and see if it worked, changing other things around it if needed. Sometimes I used concepts from other dreams I had.

3:16 this one in particular makes me happy. There’s no progress report, only that he is strongly, unwaveringly motivated. It’s not just a conviction, but a feeling-an unfading feeling-that he WANTS to, HAS to finish it. Determination. And “things” are going well. There is progress. Makes me think, “He IS motivated to finish the game! He IS going to finish it! And I WILL get to play it!”

2:51 this piece of information is really important if you think about it.
toby states that noelle's theme is repeated during deltarune. this reminds me of the melody "memory" or "his theme" in undertale which is getting used while the flashback of chara happens after undyne destroys the bridge, during undyne's date, when asgore is about to die and at the statue.
moreover, noelle's theme comes with a very nostalgic feeling (like memory/his theme) which leads to the conclusion that noelle in deltarune could have the same important role as asriel in undertale.
Oh, I completely forgot that Memory is used when Undyne reminisces about Asgore! That's actually interesting, I had thought it only played with things that had to do with Asriel.
I think in chapter 2 Noelle goes into the dark world with them and ends up getting lost so they have to find her but it’s just a theory

Im guessing there's going to be a point where Ralsei gets jealous because not only would Susie heal by attacking,but she would heal better than Ralsei.

Thats very interesting,it could be a similiar thing to His Theme (if you didnt know His theme is in 80% of the Undertale's OST's) Or Gaster's theme indicating his mark around mysterious things,time will tell
Gaster’s theme (titled “mus_him” in the game files) is 4 notes looping. Gaster is definitely linked with this somehow, but saying 80% of the soundtracks have his theme is a bit of a stretch.
@@crowMilatonin I don't know. But maybe there's someone in this timeline doing the same thing Gaster is doing on the other timeline. Either way, i don't feel that this theme is related to this timeline's Gaster at all.

*DR Chpt 2 spoilers warning*
1:05 I remember thinking "Oohh that's really heartwarming!" when the scenes about Susie learning to heal came up in Chapter 2. I'm pretty sure that's what he's referring to here, anyway.
It's especially nice to hear him say "at first" regarding her proficiency with it because that implies there will come a time where she is a decent enough and reliable healer in her own unique way.
It also makes me think there could be a moment in the story where Susie being able to heal someone will be critical... Hopefully she's proficient enough sooner rather than later, in that case...
Either way, it's really cool to see how long things have been in the works and how they're progressing now! I'm really excited to see everything come together and become clear someday. Bit by bit, we get there with each chapter and each update from Toby, and bit by bit we also get more to speculate about.
Also, 3:25 is incredibly relieving to read, I hope that feeling has persisted up until now and will continue to. However long it takes, we wont forget.

As for the fire spell, Toriel is very likely to be in the next Dark World, and her magic is fire based. Judging by this, we may get playable Toriel? And I'm just SO hyped for that

Technically, by Light World standards, the City takes up less than one room (and may actually represent a specific tiny section of an individual computer, though I'm not entirely sure on that).

3:07 ik this is somethin' pretty random to say but, Seam definitely has a connection to Flowey as well Ralsei. Remember when in Neutral route, Flowey says "Humans" - makes Frisk face "Monsters" - makes Toriel/Asgore face and then "Everyone" and make some sort of symbols? Yeah these symbols are the same in Seam eye (the button eye) And when that eye "moves around" is when Seam say "don't have anything better to do" that is obviously... Flowey favorite line?

I really respect Toby for working through any health problems (including emotional) and also the immense fan pressure to get this game done. He had no idea his career was to reach this height, and I envy his ability to stay private yet candid in brave spurts.

@@DerioYT It's ultimately a good thing, tit means that not only will we have a MASSIVE game to play when it comes out, but also it will likely improve the design of the chapters due to them being able to go back and implement new ideas they came up with in later chapters thus creating an overall better product.
Not to mention we won't have to endure any more of these heart-wrenching ;) cliffhangers.
@@alexanderfrye2688 You're right, but still there are another years of waiting. And this could be a very annoying thing for the players and the fandom. The development mode of the game is chapter by chapter, and for this It Is understandable wishing for a regular period of available chapter. For example a chapter for year.

I don't. I think him not having his hat is a great showcase of getting confidence in himself. At first, he was scared to even take out his hood until Susie basically made him, now he's feeling comfortable being with us without his hat. It's cute!

In the video, it says Deltarune is an AT to Undertale, and I can see how that is possible, because instead of a war between humans and monsters, there was a war between Lightners and Darkners, and that war cancelled out the human-monster war, because 1st they saw a greater enemy before the war could commense, 2nd they realized that the war would've been pointless because they actually like each other, and 3rd after the Lightner-Darkner war, the Lightner humans and monsters realized that they could live in peace and harmony.
If Toby doesn't call it Deltworune I will cry.

I hope people keep in mind that Toby has an actual wrist condition which has required surgeries, which can and has made working on these projects extremely difficult. So like,,,, if it doesn't happen, or it has to be pushed back a long time, please be patient with Toby and don't attack him or anything. Remember, he's making us this shit for free, we owe him a lot.

Yes, yes most likely meant that. When he said it will be released at once, it was over a year ago. He probably realised the game's hype will die if he waits til all the chapters are done, and if the hype dies, he won't get to share his story. If everything goes well, we will probably get chapter 2 in late q1 of 2021 - early q2.

i originally predicted that he would make chapter at a pace of around 1 per 2 years (considering experience, polishment of the demo, aprox time to make said demo and the incorporation of a team), it really depends on how much he's letting us know (he could be doing chapter 3 already for all we know)
And since it seems like i wasn't that far off, if it keeps going at this pace i'd say the full game should be ready at around 2027 at max, but it will probably come earlier since development can speed up as more assets can be reused and the team gets up to speed with the game itself, so 2025 if the speed up is good enough
