- I bought new trailer tires already mounted on rims, but I need a spare, so I had one of the original wheels restored and here I mount and seal the new spare tire
Thank you for this video. You've convinced me to just take my trailer tires and wheels to the tire shop. 😅
You make it look so easy. I was literally jumping on the tire with two huge pry bars yanking and jumping and yelling. Finally the tire gave up
Thanks! The trick is to get the tire bead down into the drop center groove of the wheel to give you some slack to get the tire over the edge of the wheel. I’ve said it many times, you can’t “stretch “ a tire bead, it’s full of steel wire!
Thanks for watching!
This got to be your fist tire installation. Btw at least you didn’t tear the bead kudos
I used the rope trick today - it worked well enough to get the job done.
Anthony Hitchings that’s great!
I was hoping for an instructional video. This is more of a "watch me struggle" video. It can be helpful to watch others do what you're going to do. Learn from their mistakes and challenges. Thank you.
I always show the actual work and struggles it takes to accomplish a certain task. I don’t edit out the mistakes and mishaps that occur in real life!
Thanks for watching!
Great skills & technique! Thanks for sharing!
Thought I'd seen it all til u installed both beads on at the same time.
ROTFLMAO
MAN.................That was EASY PEASY !
Funny how some think it was a struggle, for some it looked easy…… it’s all in your perspective and if you’ve ever changed a tire by hand! I thought it went pretty smooth!
FYI, I have 4 more 14” trailer tires and spares to change soon!
Thanks for watching!
Nice. I knew UA-cam would have the answer!
Gotta love the title... "How to easily mount..." haha
I thought it went very easy!❤
I just put on a set of these myself and was surprised how easily they went on. This set of Carlisles were made in China though, the old ones said made in USA. But that was 10+ years ago...I didn’t have to use any bead sealer with mine but I did have to use a ratchet strap. It went after a couple of tries.
Ratchet strap around the tread and tighten then add air with no stem valve
I’ve tried ratchet straps but I can’t get them tight enough. Also , my air chuck won’t flow unless it presses on the Schrader valve stem. Thanks for watching!
I did my motorcycle tire by Filling the air without the valve pin to seat the bead .
Nice job scratching that wheel up
the wheel was originally white, a friend hit it with one coat of black spray paint, peels off like buttah!
Would be cool to run some bolts through the bench to hold the rim
He should have used K Y Jelly to get the tire on rim . 😎
I used the strap winch off of my trailer as I do not have a high volume air pump.
well that was interesting - I am doing my first trailer tire mount today - 12"rim. Its not fun.
Anthony Hitchings stick with it, you’ll get it done! Thanks for watching!
🤣🤣🤣
Interesting video. I was nervous for you. For those watching, manufacturers recommend that you fill your tires to within 5% of the cold fill air pressure. This allows the tire to operate efficiently and not wear prematurely. Some trailer tires require less air presure, around that 50 PSI mark. The tires in your video Bob, I think you said 90 PSI. Really the tires will be at optimal when filled to close to that number. It's not about the weight of the load they are carrying, as long as you are spec'ing out the right load rated tire, fill them to the recommended air pressure...
This is just a spare to be used rarely if ever, and for a light boat trailer so I wasn’t too concerned other than it holding air without leaking. Thanks for watching!
@@bobsbarnworkshop Following a manufacture’s recommendations is always prudent. Let’s make sure that we send the right message to our shared UA-cam community. Using an under inflated tire could place the user’s property at risk as well as place the safety of the travelling public at risk. Really, trying to install a tire on a rim as shown in your video would not be an acceptable practice in any workplace so I would suggest none of us should be willing to place our personal safety at risk doing this at home either.
Where do you get the pry tools? Homemade?
Drew I bought the motorcycle tire irons from one of the on line motorcycle suppliers long ago... the long ones came from Harbor Freight about 5 bucks each. Thanks for watching!
I'm screwed... can't find my spoons...ugh...
That tire didn't seat, they pop and you can see and hear it when they seat. You need more than 50# to seat a bead, any bead........
The wheel doesn’t have the typical rib just inside the bead area that larger wheels have, so the tire didn’t “pop” on like car tires and wheels. The bead is seated tightly around the wheel for sure. Thanks for watching!
very helpfull i couldn t have done it with out your idea with a c clamp ,,, oh hey drew dont get stupid ,, home made ,,, get a life
"easily" lol
Had the flu? tissue might be useful.
