My poor Grey had a full set of feathers before he got a tummy ache. He began barbering his feathers at once. Then, we had to relocate for Hurricane Milton. My crate was missing, and I had to find a cage that was able to go into the car. He began to stress so badly that he actually preferred to be with me. I'm hoping he isn't going to hold me responsible for his trauma and barber even more. 😢
I actually didn't know that this is somewhat of a learned behavior. Are some birds naturally inclined to play w/ toys they like or is it always something they are trained to learn to love?
It's so strange to see a bird need to have incentive to chew their toys. My eclectus girls love to turn their chunky toys into splinters.
Right? I get neophobia, but like, my conure immediately tries to disassemble *everything* : Wood perches, human flesh, my marriage
