Great vid! You run your Dual Stick axis setup exactly as I would! I currently run Hotas and pedals but in a flight sim config with left and right toe breaks for strafe down and up respectively. I really hope that SC will eventually have an optional control setup similar to DCS where we can bind individual engines to throttle axis(Dual throttle for example). I just feel the key-binds are lacking and in some places a bit stupidly set up. PLEASE could you, specifically YOU, do a video on setting up and using voice attack in SC/general. I would love your help with that!
VKB Gunfighter with MCG pro, Thrustmaster TPR rudder pedals, and Virpil Mongoose T-50 Throttle is my current setup. I do have a pair of the Alphas on order, and I am looking forward to trying them out. As a long time flight simmer, and professional pilot, I'm not confident I can change to dual stick, but heck I'll give it a whirl. These sticks have all the axes to realistically make it work.
Cool vid. I use the first setup for dual sticks except on the left stick pushing forward is strafe up, back is down. This way by pushing both sticks forward you strafe up but point down at your target. Strafe forward/back will be pedals when I get it to work.
+BrianMP5T *Several lines from VIRPIL® factor into my idea of a Universal Simpit.* I'd probably be binding the left-hand Constellation ALPHA™ consistently for the most part with helicopter crews' experience: X = strafe left/right, Y = strafe up/down (collective lift), Z = strafe forward/back (condition). The MongoosT-50CM2®, which I'd place on centerline, could have two sets of bindings, an aircraft mode (X = roll, Y = pitch) or a spaceship mode (X = yaw, Y = pitch), with an ACE2™ rudder/brake set handling yaw for an aircraft and roll for a spaceship. (The Z axis on the -50CM2 would be useful for yaw trim, complementing the square roll/pitch trim hat on the pod's top center position.) Other bindings to coordinate with machine types.
noice :) regarding: dont bind eject to stick. you want it somewhere quickly accessible in combat (else useless), so i put it on my stick but set it to double tap. imo better compromise between safety and acessability. key bindings need a major overhaul in philosophy imo anyway. for one, „double tap“ and „hold“ need to be generally configurable and actually work consistently. but that is only the smallest part of making keybinds good. good topic for my next spectrum tldr actually :)
Binding mining laser strength onto the squeeze of the right joystick has been really good for me! It allows really fine control and a quick release in case of server lag. I've had a lot more fun mining with this config
My throttle, and dual alpha are waiting on my desk in the box ! Can't wait to be saturday to make an opening on the all setup :) Thanks for the review !!
SUGGESTION : rather than use a couple of button binds on the sticks. create Voiceattack commands for TrackIR center, precision and pause; I use the voice commands "helmet center", "helmet precision" and "helmet pause." You can copy these commands into other VA game profiles where needed.
If only Virpil sets up a proper preorder.... :( I already have a CM throttle, a Delta and a CM2 stick, but looking to swap for two Alphas. It appears though that Alphas are unicorns... and no sensible response from Virpil. Oh and here’s hoping that the software get anywhere near half as good as the hardware is. Hoping yes, but not holding my breath
I would love to see Verpil actually make a throttle grip for the gimbals. A T style grip like a throttle with all the throttle switches and hats, mounted on a 2 axis gimbal. Even better would allow a Z axis twist. That would make a distinctly space sim throttle grip that could have just as much functionality as a dual grip setup would.
I've picked up a Farm Simulator panel for my mining control, going to be building it up on a seated driving SIM rig with pedals and T1600m's spaced either side of my keyboard with mouse to the right (as I'm Right handed). I also have a twin tablet mount for GameGlass & VoiceAttack (running custom macro's). Looking forward to getting it all together. :)
@Vanargand I definatly get to live my life, we both have rigs and SC accounts too. Its more about prioritys of space & location. We are just not in the situation to have spare rooms that we could put a Simpit type setup. Family has to come first. Maybe if the idea of an extension come to fruition, I might be able to squeeze a corner to put my setup. :)
This was great video just to get a better idea of what kind of binds are valuable. I don't have an alpha, but I do want to remake my binds after watching this
CIG PLEASE(!!!) 0:42 ( *Huzzah!* _,and I see what you did there!_ ) and your first dual stick movement recommendation was how I'd settled on with my Dual Constellations & T-50. Good stuff, Thank you again Noobifier!
I found when I tweaked my controls tonight some for the 3.15 drop that moving strafe up and strafe down to the pedal "wheel brake" motion was really intuitive, and gives me better feel. It's a little odd since I dont use my main pedal throw for anything in SC, but I think I'm going to end up keeping that change. Another thing I tried for strafe up and strafe down was using the brake levers, right for up and left for down. This worked fairly well also, especially after making a curve on the Virpil software, but I'm concerned my aiming hand is already doing too many things. You guys might try it and see what you think? I had to invert my left hand brake lever but not my right. I tried to get used roll on the pedal throw, but getting away from right hand Z axis is hard after all this time. Mulling over if it's worth learning the new muscle memory.
Question/Help: Having an issue with throttle forward/back keybinding (HOSAS VPC Cons-Alpha). It's bound to the Y-axis on the left stick , when I push forward or pull back on the stick the ship will only move backwards! Any y-axis (+/-) movement results in the ship always moving in the same direction.
I had to get myself duel t16000's due to budget constraints after moving to a new country, but I have been eyeing these for awhile. With the mouse nearby i always thought the dismounted walk on the left joystick thumbstick sounds great for the fine control along eith the mouse to control move speed.
Why would you want to have Strafe Forward/Back on Left Y-axis, aren't you using thrusters for moving and easier to have Strafe Up/Down on that instead? As Z is harder to access then Y and you will do that most? Haven't tried Dual stick yet, but curious.
You don't need to use a button to pause tracking on foot, there's an option for that. But I believe you will keep the button anyway as sometimes you may want to dectivate tracking even when flying
@@NOOBIFIER1337 Yes! Do you? I find headtracking on foot is very realistic in theory, as it means you can turn your head but not your torso/arms, but unfortunately it was very unintuitive to me.
These bindings wouldn’t be written down anywhere, by chance? I’d like to sit down and go through them slowly to see how I might be able to improve my bindings / ideas.
Great Vid, Thanks Noob. I currently have dual Delta's and am considering the Alpha's but have not pulled the trigger yet. Thankfully, they are currently out of stock.
Shame there isn't a southpaw throttle available. Something ergonomic like the Saitek x52 or Hori Ace Combat Throttles... But for the other hand. Kinda Surprised Virpil haven't made one tbh. Though it doesn't have the on grip controls of something like the x52. Thrusmaster's new TCA Airbus Quandrant could work for a lefty/dual setup. Btw, have you ever tried your dual sticks for a Mech game? I've been thinking of trying it out using a Dual Analog style control layout.
I bought the Virpil alpha L-R. In star Citizen I cant get past this problem. Pulling back on my stick goes in the same direction as pushing forward. Y axis just repeats itself in both direction. I am sure I am just missing a simple thing. When I test in the Virpil software it works fine.
So I was rewatching this video for ideas as my left hand alpha and pedals just shipped and I'm wondering, what's this about a Movemaster? 6:23 Looks like someone's 3d printed button holder, did anything come of that? I used some google-fu and got little, I assume they failed. Oh well, not sure why I'm curious, I'm already all in with Virpil.
Can you bind your left stick to trigger the keybind on the right stick? I only have the one Virple, but the software is very powerful and might be able to trigger commands across multiple devices.
I love these bindings so much! I just got my sticks a few days ago but have struggled getting all of the bindings done correct inside SC. Do you have your configuration exported for download?
@@NOOBIFIER1337 Thanks for the fast answer. I've been researching a bit and it seems that quite a number of gamers are using some kind of software, i.e Joystick Gremlin and such. Good to hear that there is an easier solution.
Noobifier what would be your opinion for the Next-Gen constellation alphas with force feedback? If you like the idea would you recommend that as an update for 2021 to Virpil?
I'm torn - these vs VKB with cosma grip. I've been told these are better grips but vkb has better base. I also worry about q*a. Which stick would you recommend
I think both are fine. I believe the WarBrd base has a superior cam design plus it can mount tourist master grips, where VKB can only mount its grips. I have all grips in my studio. I use WarBrd Gimbals and Alpha Grips.
@@NOOBIFIER1337 Cool. Waarbrd are shorter (and less expensive) right? Not enough torque for a central (long) stick setup but perfect for side mounts / table mount?
And here I am, with my dad's old MS sidewinder FFB2, wondering if they will implement force feedback...one day... I plan on going hotas in the future though, with the stick between my legs (which my current joystick doesn't allow me) because I always find switching to keyboard and mouse when on foot a real hassle. How do you get a comfortable position allowing you to switch easily between the two ?
@@NOOBIFIER1337 Yes, but feeling your ship docking or firing through your stick would be amazing...and there is always atmospheric flight ! But indeed, I doubt we will ever see ffb added, so I'll just go with a virpil hotas and call it a day !
Hey, @NOOBIFIER1337 I want to get into using a dual virpil alpha setup. Could you recommend what I would need to buy from them? I went to their website but with all the different option I was a bit confused and didn't want to forget to get something. Also, I currently just have a solid wood desktop so adding something I could attach to the desk and then mounting the sticks to would be great. THANKS!
Simple would be a pair of Grips and a pair of gimbals. The WarBRD are faunistic for SC, and if you need to same some money, standard alpha are also great. They have a mounting solution, its quite fine, monstertech makes a better nounting solution. Desk Mount.
@@NOOBIFIER1337 thanks bud I will give them a try. Is the prime series much better than the last version? I remember you said the buttons and triggers where better
I could, but it wouldn’t work for you anyways because I have my controllers in different positions and you do. I have a throttle, you probably don’t. It would moved all of the bindings from one controller to another meeting that you would have to remap it anyways anyways
@@NOOBIFIER1337 Cheers Noob figured it out, the sticks were fine it was my saber in ac that was borked, spawned another ship and they worked just need to finish the bindings
That was quite difficult to follow. Normally I like your no BS videos but for this, we may need more info. Do you have a downloadable key bindings image somewhere on the inter web? It would also be great to have more info on the Virpil (and any other joystick) software.
ua-cam.com/video/znDPY4dj-30/v-deo.html. Thanks for the feedback. I don’t use any extra software and bindings are super personal so rather than telling you what to put where, I simply spoke about the types of things that can be bound so you can decide what makes the most sense. For Eg. My targeting is on my right 4 way. It may make sense to be on your right 8 way, or something.
ESP is an help to aim : E.S.P. works by calculating an ideal pair of input values (typically pitch and yaw) relative to a goal (typically moving an aim reticle over a target point), then scoring the actual input against the ideal input and, depending on how closely these two pairs match, blending the two. What this does is effectively deaden the sensitivity of your input which allows for much finer aiming control when very close to a target and prevents accidental overshoot. If the input values are not well matched to the ideal values, either on direction or magnitude, the input values passes through unmodified. This allows you to still break away from a target without any kind of deadened control or “stickiness” since input values that are clearly not intended for fine aiming are not deadened. As the input values approach the ideal values, the blend amount increases. As a result, E.S.P. doesn’t move for you or prevent you from moving anyway you want, it merely magnifies your intended input and rewards accuracy. The better your input, the more E.S.P. will magnify your intent. Also, because E.S.P. doesn’t force your input to any particular value, you can easily adjust your actual aim point relative to the ideal aim point. This is important with lag pip aiming where you’re often aiming at a specific part of a fish rather than just at its center. But it may enter in conflict with your own floght movement, trying to acquired a target. Really anoying when it happen. I always desactivated it
@@NOOBIFIER1337 Thanks, I am looking into something to boost my available USB port total. My laptop has 3 USBs and 2 USB Cs. I have an I7 with 64GB of ram and a 1080 NVIDIA graphics card, so raw processing power shouldn't be causing my problems. I've been wanting to upgrade my joystick and throttle and have been paying close attention to your reviews of the Virpil products and you said they could be daisy chained so I have hope I can make it work, but cant commit to upgrading until I am sure it will work. I've run into a couple issues so far and am having difficulty finding clear info on hubs. First, I am also running VR, which takes up 3 USB 3 ports plus 1 HDMI port. This leaves only the two USB C ports. I have converter plugs for the USB Cs to 3s, so i can plug in my headset and X52, but am unable to run a mouse or the charging wire for the headset. I have tried a couple USB doggles, but the computer doesn't like them no matter what combination of attachments I use, so I am stuck for now. Second, the USB Cs are almost completely unsupported by any company that makes PC accessories despite the outstanding specs for the ports. I think I found a mouse from an unknown company once. So to use these ports I am dumbing them down to USB 3 and running anything other than 1 device on these is another apparent roadblock. If you know of any guides on youtube or anywhere else, I would appreciate the info. Tons of videos of people charging their devices isn't the same. Oh why is the internet failing me. Thanks for your content. Keep up the good work.
Yes, I will gladly update you. They have two versions. The original being sold in the EU and a gen 2 which is being mass produced. I have been using and enjoying it, my plan is to do a review of Gen1 when I can. Hopefully that is what you needed, ask any questions you have.
cacarey01 abs, is just the position of the stick follows the position. So 0 to 100. rel, would work more like an Xbox thumb switch where you add or subtract from what is there.

The Alpha Grips have been delayed due to Coronavirus. They're waiting on an order of PCB's needed for the grips to come from China.
Virpil recently has changed to allow an order queue for items out of stock.
left Z is the throttle, like a bike throttle
left Y is strafe up and down like an helicopter.
Just angle a stick; ua-cam.com/video/l4bspWtp7bo/v-deo.html
I've picked up a Farm Simulator panel for my mining control, going to be building it up on a seated driving SIM rig with pedals and T1600m's spaced either side of my keyboard with mouse to the right (as I'm Right handed). I also have a twin tablet mount for GameGlass & VoiceAttack (running custom macro's). Looking forward to getting it all together. :)
Cpt Carot I gave up trying to coordinate voice attack, game glass and my HOSOS. Too much work to keep them updated and working properly.
@@jeffsfolio Hope I don't come to the same conclusion after the investment. My main problem will be convincing the GF to have the rig in the house. ;)
Dude, your setup is incredible.
Holy Crap, talk about drinking from a fire hose....😂
This was great video just to get a better idea of what kind of binds are valuable. I don't have an alpha, but I do want to remake my binds after watching this
CIG PLEASE(!!!) 0:42 ( *Huzzah!* _,and I see what you did there!_ ) and your first dual stick movement recommendation was how I'd settled on with my Dual Constellations & T-50. Good stuff, Thank you again Noobifier!
Man i better start saving money, even if SC takes another 2 years until release i might not have the money i need for a perfect setup.
My Virpil alphas are on their way, so excited
Looking at people's keybindings is a guilty pleasure of mine
I will be updating this video for 3.17.2 shortly
@@NOOBIFIER1337 :D double trouble
A good way to use VOIP and Discord is to bind the same bouton for open the VOIP channel as well as the mute mic fonction in Discord
Hmm. Maybe (one or a couple) of the virpil control modules alongside the sticks. I'll try that.
Question/Help:
Having an issue with throttle forward/back keybinding (HOSAS VPC Cons-Alpha).
It's bound to the Y-axis on the left stick
, when I push forward or pull back on the stick the ship will only move backwards!
Thanks for making this video!
Why would you want to have Strafe Forward/Back on Left Y-axis, aren't you using thrusters for moving and easier to have Strafe Up/Down on that instead? As Z is harder to access then Y and you will do that most? Haven't tried Dual stick yet, but curious.
That's all good, if you can get them. Out of stock, back order. Good luck.
You don't need to use a button to pause tracking on foot, there's an option for that.
But I believe you will keep the button anyway as sometimes you may want to dectivate tracking even when flying
Sure, but if I wanted to use tracking on foot, it’s just a button...
Quick question NOOBIFIER, can a thumbstick be bound to controlling gimbals or are gimbals strictly toggled (been awhile since I played)?
Great Vid, Thanks Noob. I currently have dual Delta's and am considering the Alpha's but have not pulled the trigger yet. Thankfully, they are currently out of stock.
Some of these binds work well with Delta
As DroppshipVTOL Pilot i feel mapping VTOL Mode toggle is very important :)
It doesn’t really change much yet.
Never used a set of sticks. Watching videos has got me interested. But not invested enough into games that would benefit from them
Can you bind your left stick to trigger the keybind on the right stick? I only have the one Virple, but the software is very powerful and might be able to trigger commands across multiple devices.
I love these bindings so much! I just got my sticks a few days ago but have struggled getting all of the bindings done correct inside SC. Do you have your configuration exported for download?
Thanks Noob
Wow here to say Hey Noob first.
NOOBIFIER, "Question" can you set the scroll wheel on the alpha grips to be your speed limiter? I would like to able to very mt speed on the fly.
You can with joystick gremlin and the likes
@5:08 how do you bind the laser increments?
Do you have a paper with your preferred bindings drawn?
Silly question: How are the keybindings accomplished? Is it done within the SC game or do you need a special software?
I just bind mine directly in the options menu of Star Citizen
@@NOOBIFIER1337 Thanks for the fast answer. I've been researching a bit and it seems that quite a number of gamers are using some kind of software, i.e Joystick Gremlin and such. Good to hear that there is an easier solution.
@@MrTryAnotherOne Yes, its totally not needed
@@NOOBIFIER1337 Fantastic! I have been toying with the idea of getting Virpil controls but wasn't sure about the software "hassle".
Duall sticks is very appealing. Is there any news on the Bespoke starcitzen controlller?
lol
Why wont the game recognize Z-axis inputs on the alpha? Anyone know?
Noobifier what would be your opinion for the Next-Gen constellation alphas with force feedback? If you like the idea would you recommend that as an update for 2021 to Virpil?
Force feedback, never. It’s already too hard to aim without the sticks also trying to screw you around
Overay there would never be force feedback in space, there is no hydraulics on aileron rudders or tail
Love
Oh no X yaw... I couldn't
hey what stand is that holding your tablet ??
It is a fairly generic one from Amazon. I think it was like $20
have you ever thought about binding left rot to the left breaklever and right to the other one? do you have any reason not to?
You can’t bind one axis binding to two levers
does anyone beside reviewers actually has this joysticks? have they started shipping?
They have shipped
did we get a movemaster video ?
So many buttons to press
Is there anyway you could upload your dual Virpil Control file for star citizen?
I could, but it wouldn’t work for you anyways because I have my controllers in different positions and you do. I have a throttle, you probably don’t. It would moved all of the bindings from one controller to another meeting that you would have to remap it anyways anyways
@@NOOBIFIER1337 Ah, I totally forgot about that. Thanks
@@CYBERCHRIS11 no problem. I edited my answer because SIRI broke English and it was hard to understand
You can easily move the bindings between devices though by using pp_resortdevices
Just inversion configs I’m not sure about
Do you need have the vpc software open for star citizen need to pick them up? @Noobifier
No, I use the software just to update firmware.
There a compony that can even sell you a stick Thay cant make them enough.
Can you clarify what you mean by ESP and ESP trying to align to a target?
ESP is an help to aim :
E.S.P. works by calculating an ideal pair of input values (typically pitch and yaw) relative to a goal (typically moving an aim reticle over a target point), then scoring the actual input against the ideal input and, depending on how closely these two pairs match, blending the two.
I always desactivated it
cacarey01 sure, get. Friend, lock them and without touching anything, ask them to fly in front of you. They will drag your ship in their direction.
@@NOOBIFIER1337 wow i never knew that. Will give it a go tomorrow.
Sir,
Do you use 3 different usb ports for this setup?
SpecialRedGamer I have a 20 port USB hub.
@@NOOBIFIER1337 Thanks,
I am looking into something to boost my available USB port total.
Provoking me to buying this this. LoL

Yes, I will gladly update you. They have two versions. The original being sold in the EU and a gen 2 which is being mass produced. I have been using and enjoying it, my plan is to do a review of Gen1 when I can. Hopefully that is what you needed, ask any questions you have.

@@NOOBIFIER1337 haha yeah im like completly new to this just got my virpil setup today and no idea where to start
I also don't understand the absolute throttle thing....
cacarey01 abs, is just the position of the stick follows the position. So 0 to 100. rel, would work more like an Xbox thumb switch where you add or subtract from what is there.
can you share the XML file?
I would gladly, but because I have three panels, and a Throttle, all of the bindings wouldn’t function with your setup.
