To play like the original (studio) version the chords are Dm/Am/C/G being: Dm on 5th fret, Am on 5th fret, C on 8th fret and last is a G on 3rd fret (as in major F form)
Not my usual type of song but cannot deny how catchy it is and super easy to play. This will be one I bust out for my high school students to increase my “cool teacher” status lol
Yeah Harry first started learning guitar from Niall Horan when they were in 1D. But he’s taken it more seriously during his solo career, but I think he’s done well for a beginner. Thanks for the tutorial. 😁
I struggle playing guitar because I’ve been taught it so many different ways - music teacher, friends and music classes all taught me different ways - but this makes it so much easier. I love seeing it broken down, it makes it much easier to understand, thank you so much!
Thank you for that tutorial. I love the chilled athmosphere and the calm Art of how you explain Things. Now i am able to Play the Song without any mistake. Thanks!! Greetings from Austria
Dude just look at the video for like 5 seconds and he immediately knows the chords, time signature, key, strumming pattern. I can also do it but it takes like 20-30 minutes. I've been playing for a year now so i am not that quick. Thanks for the video man. I appreciate it.
@@bikashth8539 hmm...that's a tough one. I don't have a lot of experience in that price range mostly because I just haven't found one I like. If you increase your budget a little bit, the Martin LX1 is a great option. Ed Sheeran played that guitar for a long time. You might be able to find a used one in the $200 range. I really like the stuff Epiphone is coming out with lately too, so that might be worth checking out. Hope that helps.
I’m a beginner guitarist and a huge HS fan and love the guitar sound on some tracks on the new album Fine Line. This was a great tutorial for someone as novice as me! Can you do the song Fine Line next? 😁
I love your channel, man. I just discovered it today but I'm glad I did. Love how you analize the songs and your vibe in general. Keep up the great work!
This whole song is like 4 chords, the way Harry plays it is so lazy and easy. The way Derrick plays it is better and he doesn’t use the lazy chords. Like the way Derrick explains that.
Derrik, You did great, really showing me that you know your stuff. I had just saw Harry's performance and looked up how he did it....and here you are! I like how you quickly got it and showed us right away. Definitely do these type of videos for popular live performances.
This is really awesome that your playing the chords while playing the video of the artist performing, which is probably what most people want to learn! Hope you will continue to do it! *subscribed*
I had never listened to Harry Styles before, being a bit turned off by his celebrity, costumes, ... but a few days ago my wife was playing random songs on Apple iTunes, this came up, really liked it, asked who it is, and so now I'm a Harry Styles fan. So then I looked up tabs and such for it and they didn't seem quite right, then went to Marty Music. He plays it in a much more advanced way, but that too didn't seem right. Then I watched the same Tiny Desk video and saw they were playing fairly basic chords, nothing like the tabs and Marty versions. So happy I found your video. That's exactly what I came up with, but since it's a whole band I thought maybe I had to either play all the parts into a looper or that Marty's version was best for just me with one guitar. Thanks for showing how easy it actually is. I love the band though. It's very Sheryl Crow like.
Water melon Sugar best tutorial i have seen had me playing this in no time, you was the only person who showed how to play it as it should be played capo on 4th and not 5th excellent please do more
Can you do this with the whole set? I would enjoy watching you break down each song and other peoples Tiny Desk or live sets. This was perfect IMO! Thanks!
Fantastic video! I really like this format. It's like you're in the room with us and you're just listening to Harry Styles and we're all just singing with the guitars trying to figure this out. Great video!
Love the format! Maybe at the end of the video try to do a full recap? Like try to play the verse, chorus etc so we know when and how to change the strumming/chords.
Hey great tutorial! While it is great to watch a traditional tutorial. I think it's even better when you break down how a version of the song is played in real time by the artist, with the artist. The way you've done this reminds of the importance to watch live performances! So good. thanks again!
Yeah didn't expect it to be complicated because he only started learning how to play instruments when he went solo. Niall on the other hand has been playing longer so I would expect him to do something less simple
Hi!! This tutorial is amazing!!! I'm a suuuper beginner and hella love Harry so thank you for this tutorial and your time!! I hope you're having a great day!! All the love x
AAAAAAaaa I'm so happy that I found you!!! Thank you so much for what you do! You really help me to learn the guitar playing through my favorite songs! Would be great to watch how to play "Beautiful stranger" by Halsey. Thank you!
UA-cam just recomend this to me, and i love it, so didatic and simple, congrats!! Do not stop making videos like this (im from brazil, sorry my bad english)
Thank u so much ❤️..I recently heard that song.n also learnings guitar..that's my pretty much first song I can play in guitar..love it..simple...keep posting.
liked it so much! i instantly liked the way u are explaining the chords and the way we need to play the song! u're truly talented! now i have a Harry Styles song that i can play on the guitar!! thank u so much!! i u could do Two Ghost, Golden it would mean a lot to me! thank you again and keep up with the brilliant work u are doing! lots of love❤️
love this, super helpful and good simple straightforward breakdown for a beginner. One question, although you mention the strumming is simple, it seems to be the hardest part for me as a beginner. Do you suggest any exercises?
Dan + Shay - Speechless (Cover by Mike Archangelo and CORii) There aren't any tutorials out there for the Picking version of Speechless (feat. Tori Kelly)
Nice job. I play it on the 5th fret though. And the only difference is that I use only the low E on the second note all other notes remain the same. Let me know what you think.
wow! loved the video! really really good, i might try this as a beginner, thank you so much! i’d love to see some music from “folklore” by taylor swift... thanks!
Apologies for beginner question. But I think in the video I heard you mention that the strumming pattern is D UDUD UDUD. But the one in description of this video, it seems quite different?
It would be so helpful as a newbie if you could put the chord diagrams on the video as you are playing (and the strum pattern), just up in the corner or something. Thank you. Great video!
I really like what you did here! It would be great if you could do "two ghosts" also by harry styles. The style from this song is quite unique :) Also side fact harry isn't a champ with the quitar because he never learned it. Niall Horan showed him some stuff while being in 1d but even niall never jad guitar lessons. Harry is better on the piano but I love how he practiced since beginning of his solo carreer on the guitar. (I'm really really sorry for my English, I'm german)
What other songs do you guys want to learn?
“Georgia Time” by Riley green! I like how you did this video learning to play it on camera!
Best Night Ever - Chase Rice
Fix somebody-new rules
Highway don't care - Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift
Sober - By Mahalia the acoustic version
Dig this style of video man! Cool to see you sit down and break down how he is actually playing it live, piece by piece! 🤙🏽
Thanks man! Appreciate it
Groovy guitar dude here!

So when are you releasing "down up down up down" because it's a bop.
Lol coming soon!
Hey this tutorial format is kinda new and refreshing! Keep up the good work! And please consider doing "102" by the 1975 :D Thank you!
Glad you like it and thanks for the suggestion!
YESS ANYTHING 1975!!
102 isn’t that difficult you could see Matty playing it and know what he’s doing
I agree. Great leson format.
honestly this guy never fails to amaze me on how he can pick up on the chords so easily, i’m just a newbie so maybe that it BUT WOW
That's what I thought😮
To play like the original (studio) version the chords are Dm/Am/C/G being: Dm on 5th fret, Am on 5th fret, C on 8th fret and last is a G on 3rd fret (as in major F form)
You could always use the easier formats, but to sound just like his version you need them all to be bar chords
thanks!
I dont get it? What u mean Dm on 5th fret? Pls explain if u want to
nothing here bar the 5th fret with your finger and then put your other fingers exactly as an Am chord on the first fret. So 5 6 7 7 5 5
@@azharialfath123 as in a Bm shape, but in the 5th fret. That is the Dm bar chord

‘She’ by Harry styles has a little more complicated guitar work, you should try that!
Thanks for the suggestion!
