- India produces hundreds and thousands of metric tonnes of plastic each year and unfortunately, this leads to an array of issues for every living organism that exists. So, restoring the ecological balance by reducing the usage of single-use plastic is essential to trot towards sustainable living. We have with us the Co-founders of Banyan Nation, who share their experience, as they pave the way for a plastic-free India.

Most (or many) use single stream recycling because it's easier to be done by the people, but also because collecting it is way cheaper.

I’ve never understood why large companies don’t employ litter-pickers en-masse, it’s a win-win situation as the poorest get a stable income & the company gets “cheap” labour. Good to see this company help in that respect, also great to see some innovation to achieve high quality recycling of plastic:)
oh bopy in my home country south-east asia philippines i tend to thank & put recycled meterials to the "scrapper kids" & recycle waste collectors who brought their bikes to take our rusted pans, metal beams to plastic soda bottles as they can make quick cash each sack they filled up and the local scrapping/recycle shop also a poor small business yet also benefited from both gains of making & selling for the parts needed by the factories/local goods makers. I wish we had this type of refining/plastic distilling company that india Banyan has not only it looks like it modernizes our additional infrastructure but the plants help local engineers & mechanics get experience on the job, wast/water treatment workers, to even factory workers finding safe work gathering & processing plastic to logistics of delivery guys/scrap kids donates & get payed for their work.. the landfills in my country is so crazy we tend to get the focus as part of the problem as the maker of the Pacific Garbage Patch on the Ocean as we tend to have alot of floods and poverty/old school inneficient waste management we had in place. if i got some brain smarts and the money. i would want to hire Banyan's expertise and build one in my nation plus its a good market to increase relations of advertising Sustainable companies & talent. love made in India guys!

@@horololo4344 seggregation is basic and we have to do our part.. but I guess incentivising the reverse supply chain.. i.e incentivising companies when they use recycled material will help a lot as well..

Something running on ma mind, why we are mixing all wastes and segregating again , instead of cleaning and segregating waste need to focus on how to collect the waste specific pack or collecting baggage which contains similar kind of waste. It will reduce our time, water cleaning other investment too. Concept of collecting waste directly from house and industries in the form of already segregated with specific baggage need to be developed and implemented so that we can avoid further waste adding up.
We need to educate more people on segregation and also should have a company who recycles like this close by it atleast one in a state. I totally agree with u❤️
That will need a system which they have in Japan. Every household has trash separated prior to disposal, however implementing this in India is very difficult.
It was an idea to not mix different types of plastic during production but color coding its type so education on segregation was no rocket science. Also, production should be in close relationship with recycling at all times. I would not allow anything to be produced until its complete recycling is proven...

For plastic recycling gathering of resources(plastic), sorting and segregating of recyclable plastics, removal of contaminating material is a very laborious process. And this is done by kabbadiwalas...(cheap labour in India). Plastics recycling companies sustain in India because of the abundance of cheap labour.
The government compulsion for usage of recyclable plastics, the ban on single-use plastic would uplift the plastic recycling companies.
One of the easiest, obvious support we can do is the usage of fewer plastics in many places without compromising our quality of life.
