If possible on warmer sunny or breezy days, go to where your m/h is parked and open the ceiling vents and windows if possible for a few hours to allow warm dry air to circulate and close them again before the temperature drops.
Thanks for the reminder, I forgot to add sofa cushions to my winter list. What I've also done is a ring of wax oil on the underneath of the van around both gas escape holes, which certainly stopped the creepy crawlers.
Another good video honey - love that Oak Tree let you use theirs - the tips you gave are invaluable especially with Matt’s rodent chocolate- we will implement all of it after Xmas we will be in ours during that period 😃x
Lots of brilliant advice including the piece of chocolate. A lot is common sense but also a lot that is so simple you wonder why you never thought of it before. Thank you!
Daz all that work i just open my lockers leave a dehumidifier on and drain the pipes i also put on a full cover and put wheel seats under my tyres to prevent flat spots i also leave the trickle charger on to keep the main battery topped up
We use our campervan all year round. I just don't see the point in having 10s of thousands of pounds sat on your driveway doing nothing for half a year...
I’m a motor mechanic and I service a lot of camper vans… I find that mice nest in the air filter housings or pollen filter housings! Have them checked regularly because sometimes they can’t get out once they’ve dropped into the air filter housings due to the depth. I’m constantly pulling out dead bodies, and sometimes they chew their way through the air filter to get out but the other side of the air filter flows directly into the engine! You definitely don’t want that! Plus, mice nests can also be found on top of the warm engine under the plastic top covers, and they chew on electrical wires, tape and rubber components… a full electrical test should be carried out regularly!
Great advice there Dazzler! What would be the man tips if you are living in your Motorhome / Campervan during Winter months but like me would be at work 5 days a week? Would the concept be almost similar? …..Smithy
I was wondering Darrin if one day you could give us a breakdown of ur annual costs including fuels insurance camp sites taxes mot, what would ur Total be👈
Hello . Where can I go to get advice on start to finish. I’m planning to move into a motor home in a years time . I Saving money but that’s all . I need guidance! Is there a group for me like me ? ❤
Hi Daz despite draining my water system down last year I still had frost damage to the pump . I ran the system until no more water came out of the taps and left taps open when pump was off . However the dealer at my Hab check said there must have been a small amount of water still in the pump . Any tips how to get it out please ?
couple of tips, one, run the pump for a few seconds after the tanks are drained, then shuffle the van back and forward a bit, and run the pump again for a few seconds. Do this 2 or three times to slosh water about and force it out. Then, take the shower head off and blow hard down the shower hose, that will create back pressure on the system and help push water down to the pump and out, then run the pump a few seconds again. That should force most remnants of water out..... (I also then pop out and run the pump for a few seconds a couple of days on the trot, it's surprising how much water will settle over a day or two)
Hi pal :) I've often wondered, why don't people periodically turn their vents on during winter or connect a timer switch of some sort to circulate the inside space fully every other day or week etc? :) thanks for sharing dude :) as you're full time, do you use a heat mat under the main tank; how do you stop your pipes freezing? :o
Hi just a quick question,I need to store my motorhome outside this winter.Would you advise a cover to keep the rain off or will it make things worse/ hold the wet in thanks martin
Great advice for us motorhome newbies. I certainly hope we can take Gustav out over the winter months, unlike the caravan we had. We've purchased a second thermal screen just for use when it's parked up for winter. Hopefully, this will keep condensation down and keep our nice one for touring use only. Gustav is a Bailey Adamo, these are all automatics. I've not had automatic before, Is it ok to leave this in Park with the handbrake off?
I’d leave a block of rat poison rather then chocolate so not only can you tell if it’s been knawed but it would also have had the desired effect on the rodent!!
Tbh I have just Googled if I can live in a caravan all year round on a twelve month site , and it says no 😳 you cannot use this as your address you have to have another permanent address and you will not be able to run a bank from a caravan park address or have access to a Dr also any car insurance would be invalid as it would not be your legal address . So I find it confusing that you are able to live in your motorhome legally ,how is this possible . The actual caravan park I considered living on is a twelve month site and I can even pay for a twelve month plot , but then goes on to say it is only for holidays and you can only stay for 28 days consecutively and move off for 48 hours then move back on , how strange .
Great advise Darran! shame Oaktree Sales ( Internet ) are so rude! I contacted them yesterday to talk about me part exchanging to a Consort van and all they were interested in was how I would purchase it...
Hi Carlos, Brad at Oaktree here. I have checked our enquiries and can see that you were chatting with our automated live chat system yesterday (not a human). We did also call you to follow up. You are more than welcome to give us a call back and we would love to speak with you. Kind regards, Brad
@@bradmatthews7773 Hi Brad, fair enough but no one called me yesterday or today. I wanted to deal with your company because of the service you have given Darren in the past. Can I ask if Oaktree would be willing to part exchange my Ford Camper conversion? As stated I would be happy to send you pictures or videos of the Van. Thank you.
@@everythingspain9442 Hi Carlos, apologies if you didn't receive a call. I'll get one of the team to call you shortly, and we can take a look at your Ford too. Kind regards, Brad
I’m with you daz
Use it as much as you can
Over winter is very quiet ✅
Can also run food grade anti freeze through so that any residue in pumps and pipes is safe. Flush out in spring. Food grade only!
If possible on warmer sunny or breezy days, go to where your m/h is parked and open the ceiling vents and windows if possible for a few hours to allow warm dry air to circulate and close them again before the temperature drops.
Great advice for people that don't know how to look after their motor home's in the winter months 😊

When i store my motorhome in the winter Drop the water into buckets then wash road grime off before leaving it.
Great advise Darren is it worth putting a tube heater with a thermostat over the winter ?

Chock a wheel with 2 chocks before taking the handbrake off, this will prevent undue strain on the park mechanism in the gearbox.
Great Education for all motorhome and caravaners everywhere x
Pity you never tested a microwave, what do you think ? Thanks,Brian.
great content and really well put together great reminder their usually something i forget to do
Darren can you drive that size of van with a normal driving licence

GPs must let anyone without a permanent address use the GP surgery address for medical issues
Disconnect the batteries too. Those things are getting bloody expensive!!
Would that apply to lithium batteries as well?
All batteries....even the ones in the tv remote.
