Except you're a bitch.
Now play every inversion of those chords
That sounds like a really good exercise actually lol
You're killing me smalls.
Ouch! 😬
Did that just say F _minor major_ 7?
Yes, it’s a minor triad where the 7th degree is sharpened by a half step e minor 7 for example is e,g,b,d e major 7th is e,g#,b,d# a minor major 7th is e,g,b,d# you have the minor triad e,g,b but instead of d natural it’s a d sharp from the major 7th chord
You're helping me learn so much.
Has this become a short channel?!😢
I realy loved your videos!!!
They're coming back. Don't worry
🙄 My beginner guitar playing Ass be like: Tf is he talking about... 💀
Btw I can play alot of basic chords just that... I know em by memory. I've been told to learn new scales and practise them.... In different shapes but.... I don't really know what that mean and 😐 yeah I'm just stuck right now
It literally doesn't matter.
Make music, once you get a feel for the sounds, you can follow your curiosity into music theory.
If you have never played a bunch of dominant seven or diminished chords, you won't really profit from knowing what they even are.
Imagine this. You are playing a game, and in that game there are skills. You just started, and you have like 3 skills that you can hardly even use, but now some dude is trying to explain to you that you can combine a bunch of skills that you have never heard of, and won't for some time, in a area that you have never heard of, for some effect you have never seen and have no use for.
Great. You have just cluttered your head with useless information.
Learn to play songs first and foremost.
Don't make the same mistake I did, playing scales and trying to understand concepts I had absolutely no use for.
You can play all of these chords anyway, it's not like you need to unlock them, it's just the music theoretical implications that are entirely irrelevant to you.
Practice and being able to play actual songs is a billion times more satisfying and also productive than whatever some music nerd is thinking about, 15 years into his professional music career.
Playing some scale won't impress anyone, it generates absolutely 0 joy. You won't be improvising for some time, and outside of that it's just a warm up exercise.
Musicians are NOT musicians because they understand music. They are musicians because they can play music. If understanding music will not help you play music (and it won't for now) it's jot going to make you a better musician.
@Carl Panzram This is just pure factual information hahaha. Also a tip I can think of is just look for songs with which you can use these chords. Melodic minor as a scale is also especially useful in jazz.
@@carlpanzram7081 so true! Also something that helped me progress faster, heard it from this PRS silver sky promotion video John Mayer did: if you like the sound of something, learn why. Like, when you hear a specific song you like a lot, learn the theory behind the core idea of the song. John gave the example of Gravity, where instead of just learning the intro riff, also try to find out what those notes mean, for this example G maj pentatonic BB king spot NO.1. That way you can actually understand what you’re playing! And for a beginning player this works the same by for example trying to understand chords and simple extensions
Can you recommend a good guitar theory book?
I can't learn guitar.. I'm hooked on the cigarettes.. 😔😔
Imagine power chords wit that reverb? Hate me please hate me
THIRD
Actually the best short video you've made
The tone of his voice reminds me of Davie504
and quartals, and polychords, and clusters, and hybrids, and why did i decide to study music D:
Bro chill I'm still learning jazz cords from STP
Newbie question here, why did he make the 5th chord a dominant 7th and the forth a Major 7th? And then the Diminished chord became Em7b5 instead of just Edim7? Is there a rule or something I'm missing? Thanks!
why does the melodic minor scale sound like a mixolydian b6?
One day I'll tackle those scales. Haven't felt the need yet. Mastering the 7 modes is a deep hole as it is. I did discover that the full diminished chord comes from them. Then when I realised that of course they have 7 modes too, I went back into the corner and whimpered 😆
Not to sound like a prick but it’s a half diminished or minor 7 flat 5 not a diminished chord in the major scale
For F major the correct 7th chord is E diminished 7 not E half diminished.
my private instructor at MI made me do this and write it down for every scale and like 1-4-5 in each mode, before teaching me counterpoint. it was fun!😅 but it really broadened my sense of harmony
why do you just asume i dont know those im not like a guitar player i know music theory
Wtf is harmonic minor and melodic minor? Asking for a friend
Thanks for letting us leave.
Take my breath away...~~•~
What about the function of these chords?
As a bassist, I in fact do not know those chords
That's because the bass player has to know wtf is actually going on 🤟
So glad I can’t read music
