Great review, James! I got my 4K copy early and my wife and I were able to watch this last night. I was blown away by how incredible this movie looked. The sound was wonderful, too. I hadn't seen this film since its DVD days, so I was shocked by the improvements.
Didn’t the heavy bass bump in the scene when he hits her head on the plane make you jump a little? It was a great audio mix that added to the horror thriller effects on this DTS HD mix, really made my wife jump even though she knew it was coming because it was done so well!
Definitely a huge surprising upgrade, especially going from the old DVDs to 4K lol!!! 🤣 But in all seriousness it’s a really great release from Paramount Presents line that this cult classic horror thriller deserved! My wife & I were thrilled this turned out so good too! 🤟😉
@@InSearchofPhysicalMedia - that part did startle me a bit, yeah! And the scene where he jumps out from behind the door near the end nearly caused my wife to fall off the couch haha - very effective! Man, I'm so happy this got the amazing treatment it deserved. We are so lucky. If they can maintain this level of quality, keep 'em coming!
@@johnfunderburg6225 👌Yah that’s was another great bass thump scene that you mentioned & even when you know it’s already coming because of how good the audio DTS mix is in this 4K it still makes you jump & adds to the great horror thriller feeling of this film!
To be honest because of the great audio implementation it made this so much enjoyable than my wife and I remembered when we watched it before & made it almost feel like a totally new experience in some ways! 🤟😃

I have to admit I was a bit hesitant about picking this release up after seeing The Core on 4k. But I took a gamble on it and I'm happy I did because the movie looks great. The only thing I will say is when you do stack it up against the Blu-ray that you get with it there is not what you call a drastic leap in picture quality. Dolby vision definitely tighten things up a bit in terms of colour and you get a good increase in blacks as well. But in terms of fine detail I think it was very similar to the Blu-ray. Not that it's a bad thing. Thank you for the in-depth review. All the best
I wanted to check out this movie, but like most 4Ks, it’s super expensive. $50 plus Canadian. The blu-ray is close to $40. So I went old school.. dvd, $5 Canadian. Maybe, I’ll grab it next year.
Do u know if it's got the extended cut.
Craven mentions that around four minutes of footage were reinserted into the movie for the TV version since the theatrical cut was so short -
