Pretty sure the food cutscene was a joke about video game food being hard to animate (while still being amazingly animated), needed complex rigs while also doubling as a joke about canteen food being terrible which makes this amazing.
The joke gets added too later with a ramen cutscene where someone asks you to just touch the ramen.

Why would they do that? So many videogames nowadays show off the character's eating ... It's not a clever joke on videogames it's admitting they suck at animating. That's the joke...

The whole game is a surreal mood piece for 360/PS3 era action shooters.
They posted these cutscenes on UA-cam a while ago. Not sure if I caught the food animation reference you’re talking about; guess I need to re-watch.
Edit: I’m on crack. Just realized you meant the cutscene near the end of the video and not the DIY how-to-cook videos. It all makes sense now.
The takedown animations are just.... amazing to look at. Game feels like a cyberpunk John Wicke simulator with Kill Bill swordplay.
This is the kind of game the _Best Friends_ would play in an instant.
I can practically hear Matt and Pat just laughing their asses off while playing this.

Except those were generally budget priced games that ran $30 or less. This is a full priced $60 title.

@Marvin Gomez Gungrave G.O.R.E is on Gamepass. I appreciate the series and I enjoyed the prequel anime. It did not age the beeeest. It's flashy but not really functionally satisfying.

The Japanese Hard difficulty, caught me off guard.
Except there really isn't a "Japanese hard" difficulty in games.....Games in Japan were always generally easier than what got released in the US and EU.....The Japanese difficulty was the intended difficulty, the US/UK got purposely made harder to combat video game rentals. The devs who worked on all those "hard" NES games have all said the intended difficulty was the Japanese versions.

This game was very fun and is very flexible. I love how can you guard or whiff cancel your 1st attack at any time into dashing, dodging, shooting, or into another attack. Also after guard cancelling at the end of the 1st attack reduces your attack recovery. Parrying and counters make this game fun. My only complaint is that the camera can be annoying in some parts.

Deadly Premonition mixed with Ninja Gaiden and No More Heroes is not something I ever expected to see, but I am so glad it exists and this game is so amazing.

Fountain Dew and Depsi killed me. This game is what happens when the creators do not care for AAA quality. Would this make GOTY? Absolutely not and I don't think they care. They had one goal in mind and that was to have fun. Only thing killing me is the price tag.
Yeah. If we KNEW the game had free (or very cheap) DLC content coming, I think the price would be ok, but as it is, its about 10-20$ too much for general audiences that are on the fence.
This game looks like a fusion of cyberpunk aesthetics, cheezy 90s anime cutscenes and vo's, suda 51 over topness, and a hint of platinum games flair. what a combo!
There's some kind of charm that comes from janky japanese games and the awkwardness of the dialogue that just makes them fun as hell to play.

This game did remind me of ps2 era goodness. That being said, there a splinter cell conviction/saints row 3/Vanquish/a lot of other games that don't take themselves too seriously-quality to this that I'm digging.
This made me think about John Woo: Stranglehold for some reason. Would definitely play this.

@@tonware Understandable. Just make sure you know what your getting for your money. It's not a very long game from what I heard ( still haven't finished it). i've heard anywhere between 4-10 hours. There's replay value in the harder difficulty mode, minigame high scores, and collectables. there are some cheat codes, hopefully some cool secrets (not sure tho) humor is subjective but the game certainly has a charm that some people will fall in love with. And like I said this game will most likely end up as a cult classic so you'll be able to say you played it before it was cool Lol.

Cyberpunk Twin Peaks sounds absolutely amazing
I've seen people calling it "janky" and that feels like a disservice, it's clear that a lot of passion and love for this era/genre of games went in... on top of some hilarious memery
You can really tell who the younger crowd is, because they don’t have the memory of these kinds of games reigning supreme for a good while. The “jank” is a feeling they recreated perfectly, without actually sacrificing the gameplay for it.

It's because people expected a triple A game that plays in a similar fashion to the others. Which is stupid. This is more of a double A game that has fun with itself.
It reminds me of a ps3 era game maybe Heavenly Sword meets Max Payne.. My first physical on ps5 It’s challenging however

I don't know what I just witnessed, but I want more of it.
Y’know I was hesitant to get this game just because I hadn’t seen much gameplay and it didn’t look like something I’d be into. Now after watching max play it, I might actually get it. Controls seem a little clunky BUT it does seem very reminiscent of classic 2000s games like Ninja Gaiden or something similar to that and I grew up on 2000s games so any game that goes back to that era I have to get. It’s why I got Evil West and I loved that game.
