Herbie Hancock's classic, "Butterfly" performed live at the Blue Canoe in Tupelo, MS - 7/30/15. Featuring:

This is what is great about UA-cam: the chance to discover musicians you didn't know doing excellent things in places you've never heard of...
thanks so much for listening!
I came for the Moose call, stayed for this great version of a Herbie Hancock classic!
thanks for listening! :D
Absolutely fantastic! I could listen to this literally all day long. He is why I love the bass and worship jazz.
+Stephen Pruszenski thanks so much for checking it out, stephen! appreciate the kind words!
Stop worshiping jazz and listen to it.
@@danm776 There's always one trolling asshole in every crowd, rjght Dan M. ? Been "listening to" jazz for well over 40 years.
most underrated bongos on the planet
I have often gone back to watch this since it's posting. Seeing this crew on that stage has a great personal impact to me and brings back great memories. However, despite that impact, the musicianship in this video is a lesson in taste and restraint that attracts my attention. The intensity created by the holes left from each instrument is really key for me in this and keeps me coming back. It takes amazing talent to fill those holes with cool licks but takes incredible maturity to leave space for a melody to breath.
+Rikk Manning rikk, you rawk! and thanks again for making the trip to douglas corner!!!
First time hearing Adam Nitti, and what a jawdropping solo, it just kept ramping up.. The keyboard solo after was a much welcome addition. Love the dynamics and groove! Thank you for this cover. Greetings from Sweden

Adam, I listen to this at work. Love your stuff!
Tuning into Mr Nitti a lot these days. Lovely stuff here.
Great track choice and cover! My favorite Herbie era. Fellow Ibanez player here! Awesome bass, tone and playing, sir!
I've followed you for years now and am familiar with the clear 'centered / focused' tone you accomplish,, and I've always loved it! But, your tone here has a warmth I haven't heard before, including all the most recent vids. Not sure if you've made a conscious change, but it sounds fantastic!
+Mark Allen hi mark, thanks so much for your very kind words! also, you are correct; i did make some slight tonal changes over the last couple of years. i really appreciate you noticing, and am so glad you like it!
Very good fellas...I initially thought...here's a another bar band... butchering one of Herbie's jams...love the rendition...I'm impressed
Love It so much 🎧🔥🔥🔥
Awesome Adam you are incredble my master

Amazing ...very tasteful playing!

Beautiful! I wanted to press the "like" button a 101 times but it has no effect, however I think you can understand the sentiment :-) Great music, delightful bass playing as always, many thanks for sharing. Would be great if the chaps at the Jazz Cafe in London would invite you over :-)
+mtd535 thank you as always, my friend. so proud to have your support! help me book that jazz cafe! :D
@@AdamNittiMusic I can relate to that feeling...UA-cam should consider giving us an option to multiple like...because one like is just not good enough in this case...
I would like to do something similar with my bandmates!!!!
great tune for solo bass. melody and chordal arrangement is fantastic. classic little stage there in MS! fingerstyle and thumping solo was "out of this world" hah. very very nice!
Awesome beautifull bass sound! 😊 but why can't people shut up in the background specially during the quiet parts of the performance? 🤔
thank you for the very kind words and for listening!
This man is "magic"
It was like meditiation for me.
Thank you to each of you...
Adam Nitti is Fantastic Bass Player, awesome! :)
Greetings from Brazil!
Juninho

+Shaun Ritchie aw man, bless you for that. i hope you are doing well and having an incredible 2016 so far! blessings-
The highlight of my day! Sonic Perfection!! Thank you for sharing❣️
Sweet !!!
Terrific! Greetings from Argentina.
In 1978, Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen made a total kick-ass recording with Joe Pass. If you can find it, that would be my idea of a true musician's recording produced for a professional musician to hear. Joe Pass on guitar is amazing.
+Stephen Pruszenski thanks stephen, i'll check that out!
One of my favourite bassists. Love it.
+doubleotwentyone bless you for listening! :D thanks!
Very nice!😎
I love this tune and the way you guys play it is just great! It's beautifully shot and recorded.I hope you have more of this concert. Why don't you guys make a DVD out of it and sell it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would buy it....
+gimmeagig thanks so much! we are trying to consolidate several performances for that exact purpose. unfortunately we didn't get footage of this entire show but we will video all future ones, as well.
Love this version

So good brother
+Jorge Lopez thank you jorge!!
Excelent 💎
Excellent
Great bass sound (no need to make comments on the outstanding playing)
Sick!
+Duration Ofthelamb thanks so much!
As always Awesome Adam!
+Enrico Galetta thank you my brother!
Nice cover!
Very nice. Difficult song; hard to build that dynamic in the middle but you nailed it. Great solos (Chris might have got a little in the weeds scale-wise at one point) but still very impressive, all very accomplished players. Herbie would be proud of you, Chris.
If I had one little note here, I would ditch the conga solo and have that player's energy directed more towards the middle dynamic, where it seemed like he laid out a bit. The conga helping build that center dynamic would maybe make the song flow better.
But still, really great cover. Kudos. Now, buy Chris a Clavinet and do Chameleon.
3:57 love this part 🔥
thanks so much!
wowowowowowowow
Excelent
Focus by Stan Getz is my absolute favorite jazz recording of all time and "Im Late, I'm Late" is a song without equal in the history of jazz. Just wondered what your honest opinion of that song would be. Others tried performing with strings, notably the master himself-Charlie Parker, buy nobody ever mastered it. That is, until 1961.
+Stephen Pruszenski just checked out 'i'm late i'm late'... fantastic composition. really implies a lot of imagery and sounds like i'm listening to an engaging story told in harmony and melody. i loved it. thanks for sharing, as i hadn't heard it before.
People remember Getz for his delightful foray into Bossa Nova with Astrud Gilberto, but man could this guy ever play-harmony improvisation with an endless mind.
Herbie produced this long ago
Nice :)
These cats are out of sight
Adam, Have you ever heard of the late bassist Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen? If so, what did you think of his acoustic work? Pull the plug and I think he's right up there with Mr. PC himself-Paul Chambers. And along with them would be "Mad dog" Charles Mingus. Who is your favorite acoustic bassist of all time?
+Stephen Pruszenski absolutely. i love niels henning!!! his acoustic work is amazing. my favorite? man, that's tough. i'd have to say mingus. there's just something about him that really connects with me.
+AdamNittiMusic Mingus reminds me of what Jaco would be like playing the upright. Mingus did it all, and then some. Played, wrote, produced, arranged. He was always thinking outside the box. Case in point was his song: Hog callin blues. I hope I have that right. I was surprised he didn't do Bach because he sure as hell could do anyone else. Gone all to soon at 56 from ALS. Now THERE was a musician's musician.
+AdamNittiMusic Mingus Among Us was probably my all-time favorite work of Mingus. He gave us a little of everything on that recording, including some timely and germane social commentary.
absolutely!
Arrechisimo
this word you will not get it in the dictionary, my admiration and describes how much I liked the video
+Yhousel Gonzalez i love it! thanks so much!
