We've hit the road on our trip of a lifetime around Australia.
Travelling in our 200 series Landcruiser and 23'6 Hardcore Titanium caravan.

You kept the shiny side up. Airbags didn’t go off. Look at the positives. I’d be surprised if that’s a write off. Just looked like panel damage. Good luck with insurance.

Heya our favourite family The Nalders, our sincerest condolences for the Landcruiser, we were on the edge of our seats, the music was making our hearts race. So glad you are all okay, and hearts go out to you all for the experience of being helpless passengers in an uncontrollable slide, super glad you are all safe and sound. We take away from this the amazing positive attitude of all of you, something we can all learn from.

Yes, we don't even like to scratch our stuff let alone crash it! Yes fitting it out to us took some time and we had it perfect for us! Having to do it again will suck!

Yes Ky actually does have panic attacks with everything out of her control now. Which we feel absolutely terrible about! A damaged car we don't really care about, the kids mental health is way more important! Cheers and thank you! Very much appreciated!

One point. The hill that you were having an issue on at the 6.00 mark.
I know it sounds counter intuitive but if you look at the smooth (ish) bit of track close to the edge, you would have had an easier time with your passenger wheels on that line.
You had your tyres deflated and the 200 has traction for days so you would have had an easier time driving up that side.

I don't like taking risky tracks very often especially when they're not gazetted roads and insurance won't cover if something happens.

Have a look at the feel-good family. They backed slowly to let a car past and put the back wheel in a gutter drain. They put theirs on its side.

I did notice your right front wheel while in 4x4 was locking up hard and rubbing in the clay,as you drive through where you bottomed out.Did you see that on the camera?

Good Tyres would’ve prevented that and chains
We did have good tyres, always run all terrains. Chains weren't mandatory but yes you're correct may have helped! One of those questionable incidents! Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion!

It’s good that everyone is safe that’s the main thing hopefully they will repair that one. The damage shouldn’t be more than half the cars worth normally if it goes over half of the cost of the vehicle then they write it off

Some may think that, we were going just as fast if not slower than the multiple cars going up and down that had no issues. Just a questionable moment...

You're all ok. That's fine. The vehicle is a tin can and done its job. Have a look at who easy it to fit chains, Tim Bates and going overland. The water turned into ice, which you can not see. I skied, and there is no control when you are on it.

Thank you, We do know how to fit snow chains, we'd go to the snow and ski every year so roads like this definitely aren't new to us! Every car going up and down had no issues without chains.

How do you tow a 4t van with a 200 series ? Tow ball weight plus accessors , gear , fuel ,passengers , you must be way over gvm surely ?

Glad you are all safe and well But No WAY WOULD I BE USEING A TOYOTA LANDCRUSIER TO PULL A 4 TONE CARAVAN EVEN WITH A GVM UPGRADE YOU WANT YOUR TOW VEHICLE TO BE MORE HEAVY THAN THE CARAVAN..... And YES I KNOW THAT YOU WHERE ONLY OUT DRIVING AND DID NOT HAVE THE CARAVAN ON .

Correct, that's why we always have our caravan lighter and don't use the full 4T.
It allows us to carry a few extra kgs of water over the 3.5T legally!

I,m 63 and ive never seen snow. I,m from QLD.
Never say never!
The difficulty your vehicle had back at the 6:30 point suggests something was wrong. The ranger had no difficulties on this bit and a 200 series should have waltzed through it easily.
That bit looks like the central diff lock was not engaged and the tyres had too high a pressure (I note you said you dropped to 22psi but the tyres showed almost no change in their profile ...perhaps because you're very lightly loaded. My 200 series tyres have a much longer footprint at 22psi ...but it is carrying a fair bit more weight )
The ranger did have mud tyres, we had all terrains.
The ranger is fairly stock and light whilst ours 200 weighs around 3.5T.
I guess every car is different and handles situations different.

You're not wrong! We've been to the snow plenty of times, we'd go every year to ski. We know how to fit chains if needed, in this instance they weren't mandatory and there were lots of cars going both directions absolutely fine without them. Just one of those questionable moments.
