    It's priceless, seeing Ginger smiling towards the end of the long middle groove, the unadulterated unfiltered sheer joy of it. That's how we feel listening to this band.

    Lucky enough to see them on the Levitation tour supported by Vardis. A real treat to see Ginger in the flesh and a fantastic album.

      I saw them on that tour but I didn't like Baker, especially as he did a really long and boring drum solo, I preferred Simon King.

    This is my favorite album from Hawkwind

      On bass was Harvey Bainbridge, who eventually migrated to keyboards. On keyboards i think on here was Tim Blake.

    RIP Ginger, on a side note though - Huw lloyd and those so distinctive solos - bloody terrific. Irresistible and infectious tune.

    The BEST roto-rhythm Hawkwind has ever done! Starting about 2:58 in you'll feel a physiological change in your body -like you're lifting off. Happens everytime!

    Hawkwind-mania This is my music and proud of it. I am a fan and met & talked to them more times than I can remember, Lemmy is really bright and the rest are articulate, kind, & grounded.Plus:!! They really believe in what they do. No BS

    Dave looks like Arthur Brown here......
    .....Although the Hawkwind legend is mainly about the 70's , up until the 90's Dave managed to keep his ship in tiptop shape .
    That's over 30 years of very good music, that even The Stones couldn't manage.....

    This is the first Hawkwind album I bought... without knowing anything about the band and solely based on the cover art! And I loved it.

      It was my first cd when they came out after 2 vinyls played to destruction ...2nd was The Raven and both sounded better on vinyl.
      Motorway city guitar ...he was a genius RIP Huw...First track I pick if am somewhere I can crank volume up and grab the air guitar

    I've never seen this before. I started my Hawkwind journey in 1975 and certainly saw them live on this tour and several times since of course. For me the albums released 1970-79 are the best. On his game, Huw was the perfect lead guitarist and gave the band real muscle. Robert Calvert was a genius in his own way.

    The first band I ever saw at a fair it was the summer of about 83 and I was blown away I was on acid and amazing , I still listen to there albums I love masters of the universe , great live band

      Indeed. The band as a whole underrated. Of course there's been many people involved but generally an astounding band. Ginger was a mad addition but somehow fitted. HUW best guitarist though!

    Simon King and Ginger Baker , abeit for a short time , are two of the best drummers to play with Hawkwind. This is classic Ginger Baker , classic Hawkwind , fkn Classic classic acid classic.

    Gawd! Saw them in Birmingham on this (shroom season) tour. Ginger on drums, Tim on keyboards :) We all took off in a giant UFO that night. Good times.

    A true classic! The band AMORPHIS did a killer version of "Levitation".It's worth checking out.Obviously,it's not QUITE as good as the original but it's still excellent.

    Looks like Dave borrowed some mascara from Arthur Brown! That said, this is a brilliant number from Hawkwind, and the presence of Ginger Baker is especially amazing.

    Hawkwind played at a Motorcycle Action Group weekend open air in somerset in the early 1980s. Loads of bikers loved Hawkwind and wherever they played whether it was Stonehenge Festival or indoors it was always a party. This was the best music before Prodigy, rave but better in my opinion.

      @owenkrysler8235 😆 I don't remember where I saw/read it,but afterwards said, ' I can't believe that the World's finest Drummer has been sacked by the World's worst Bassist' (Harvey Bainbridge). A bit unfair, as He was voted out by the rest of the band, but Bainbridge announced the decision to him.

    Ginger took any band he played with to another level...
    Of course Hawkwind was already an established band, but his drumming just gave them that extra oomph.

    I saw the Levitation tour, December 1980, in Taunton - my first gig! At the end, Ginger Baker had clearly been riled by someone in the audience. He threw his stick, not so much *to* as *at* the crowd. The venue has been a bingo hall now for decades.

    I don't remember when was the last time that I heard that song, or when was the last time that I heard the full album from which the song comes, I remember that the guitar player who plays the solos had a unique sound and style
