I know there are a lot of "thank you" messages here but I have to say it myself. Thank you! You've been so helpful for me. Not everyone shares tutorials with this much of detail. Glad to find this channel!
I started playing guitar 5 years ago just to learn this song. I couldn't find good videos to learn from and I wasn't good enough, but now this is my second chance.
Oh just for the heads up for all of you, if you're playing this in E flat drop (Eb Ab C# F# Bb Eb), remember that it's +1 fret up (basically it's a half step). Well if you're playing Standard E tuning then you don't have to worry. Just wanted to give off some friendly advice, considering that I am starting to learn this solo. (Especially since I have the tuning set to E flat drop)
Good call. It does seem more likely that the song is played in G but with a 1/2 step down tuning. Good luck, have fun, and don't forget to use your ears! Thanks!
THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Super awesome tutorial!!! Thank you for your thoroughness!! I really appreciate it and thank you for the whammy tutorial! Now it’s time to annoy my wife and explain why I need to buy another guitar pedal haha 😆 I’m looking forward to more content from your channel!!!
Great tutorial! I'm very excited to play it all the way through. I'm just confused on how to play the EVH Lick part. I don't know the technique. Is there a tutorial on how to do that?
Thanks so much for the kind words! I have the tab on my website. I know the tab is in the video, but it kind of zips by. Just make sure the taps are strong notes. Best of luck, and let me know how it goes!
The dude who wrote that this is horrible either doesn’t know how to play guitar or is a hater, amazing work man, you’ve got yourself a subscriber!, please make a tutorial for fade to black - Metallica and give shout out lol
@@adhritkhanna2833 Thanks so much! I did a quick runthrough of Kirk’s live outro ending for Fade to Black ua-cam.com/video/u9EKrA-UQ3k/v-deo.htmlsi=ia51h5RdlI3c-d2v Thanks again, much appreciated! \m/ \m/
This is the Digitech Whammy IV, and you can find them used online. The new one is a beast. Digitech Whammy DT. Haven’t tried it, but I’ve heard nothing but good things. Big upgrade on the detuning effects. Thanks!
Hi, can you make a video for the tabs for this whole song? I need to play this live for a competition on 25th October , so please make tabs for the whole song , thanks
Thanks so much! This song sounds in the key of Gb major, though you can tune down and play it in G (if you want to keep the original key). Chorus chords are Gb Bbm Ebm Db Cb (enharmonically B). You can play these with barre chords or power chords. Hope that helps a bit. Thank you!
@@sanjanasharma9868 I just sent the lesson from my website to your other comment. I don’t have a transcription of the entire song, though I may do that if there is enough interest. Have fun learning the solo, and thanks for checking the video out!
To make that exact effect, yes. To play this solo? No. Just use the tools you have. Learn the solo first, then get the pedal if you really want it. Doing this will at least give you something specific to play when you try out the whammy.
Yup! I played it in standard tuning here. The original key is Gb, so it’s certainly possible that the song was recorded a half step down so they could play in G, but it’s not necessary to tune down to play this solo (or the song).
A whammy pedal is the effect that is used at the end. An 8ve pedal could also work. If you don’t have these, now worries! Just play the melody straight up without the effect. \m/ \m/
Ha, no worries. I bet this solo would still sound good on acoustic. Anything that’s too high on the fretboard can be played an 8ve down. But please don’t let me discourage you from getting an electric; go for it!

Ah! Fantastic! Glad to hear that. Let me know how it goes. This video deals with just the solo, but I can get into the rhythm guitar if needs be.
Thank you! I'm still a novice when playing guitar but this song identifies me a lot and I'm willing to learn it! ❤️🎸

Do I need the peddle?

Steel Lemon Studios thank you!
@Ryan Peterson Ah, that would be incorrect. I'm sure it was just a typo. Tabs are a good starting point sometimes, but always trust your ears!
@Ryan Peterson Ah, gotcha. It’ll come with experience and practice. They don’t call it ear training for nothing! Keep practicing, you’ll get it!
Would I have to have a whammy ?
A whammy pedal is the effect that is used at the end. An 8ve pedal could also work. If you don’t have these, now worries! Just play the melody straight up without the effect. \m/ \m/
Ok, now the problem is my guitar fret just until 19 Hahaha. I think i have to buy a new one and electic i guess 😂😂😂

Was this a studio cat playing on this? It screams Orianthi..
You know, a quick google search didn't turn up much. I'd really like to know, too. Definitely a studio player.
PORQUE NUNCA PONEN EL NOMBRE DEL PEDAL????????
I used an old Digitech Whammy 4 for this cover and lesson.
This is fucking horrible.
While I disagree with your assessment of my lesson, I respect your right to be an asshole.
