    how much coolant do u need?

  • @yamaworm3478
    @yamaworm3478 3 роки тому +1

    So when all it’s drained do you fill the radiator right up and then the reservoir to half way? Then top up reservoir to half way if needs to be?

    • @IanThang
      @IanThang  3 роки тому +3

      basically the reservoir does not need to be very full, as overflow from the radiator will flow there. so anywhere from half to full will be a good amount of coolant in the reservoir

    A few questions
    1. Can you use closed container water instead?
    2. Does you have to wait 2 days for the 2nd flush
    3. What if my fan didn’t turn on for the first flush and i let it hit like 215°

    • @IanThang
      @IanThang  3 роки тому +4

      Hi there mason
      1. If the water does not contain minerals, then yes you may, other wise its best to avoid, distilled water is free from impurities
      2. You just need to wait till the bike is fully cool down, you do not want to open the cap while the coolant is hot, its dangerous. So since we are in lockdown, not going anywhere, i'll just give it a good amount of time to cool down fully
      3. 215 Fahrenheit? if yes then its not at the mark where the ECU asks the fan to turn on, usually it will start running at 106 degrees, that is 222.8 Fahrenheit

    good video. I have a doubt: after the second flush, the engine block has distilled water on it, so once you pour the coolant, it will mix with the distilled water itself, so you will never have 100% coolant in the system, right? the only way to achieve so would be doing the flushes with coolant instead of distilled water...

    • @madmellu
      @madmellu 27 днів тому +2

      coolant is most of the time eather premixed 50/50 distilled water and coolant. Or you buy 100% coolant and mix them yourself

    Bro battery water can use to flush radiator?

    • @IanThang
      @IanThang  3 роки тому

      yup, cause battery water is actually distilled water, it does not contain any minerals that will harm the radiator
      or the battery water(distilled water) can be used as the coolant in the radiator too, but it depends on situation too

      106 degrees and when the fan kicks in. it will shoot down below 100 degrees quite nicely

      Mine has hit 225 F idling at a stop light with no problems. I was in the desert at 115F outside. between 195-220 is "normal". Somewhere over 230F the bike should shut itself off. Check the service manual.

    • @zaheerahmed4783
      @zaheerahmed4783 3 роки тому

      @@yoJuicy you’re saying it’s normal for a bike to hit those temps? I currently have murky coolant fluid, it seems like oil is getting into it but I can’t tell from where and that I think is causing it to heat up cuz it’s not actually cooling
