I also used Windows since the mid 90s, Linux since early 00s and switch last year to Apple's ecosystem. What can I say, I am still very excited. Two of the main reasons were dissatisfaction with Microsoft's corporate policies (including the increase in bloatware) and the release of Apple's own SoC (ARM-based chips). Before that, I was not considering buying a new Mac because I found the Intel-based Macs to be massively overpriced. My attitude only changed after the second M-gen came onto the market. In any case, I satisfied and would not work without my MBP.
@@patfisher22 I would like to point out that Windows versions for the US and European (and other) markets are different. If I, as a power user, have to deploy a nearly clean image every time so that I don't install a lot of ad-supported garbage, that's a no-go. Especially if you use Windows in (smaller) companies. The changes from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and up to today with Windows 11 are and were particularly noticeable. Added to this, fails like the sloppy (unsecure) implementation of the initial recall function. For me, there is no logical and sensible reason why pro users should be happy about having faulty (unsafe) features and junk apps pre-installed. Not only that, such things were even enabled by default. We are not talking about an indie developer here, but a multi-billion dollar corporation with dozens of developers. In any case, Candy Crush, TikTok, Solitaire and other ad-supported apps have no place on a work device. Especially not if you pay a lot of money for an overprice retail license. The same goes for the far too restrictive hardware requirements, the online requirement for installation and similar things that can only be avoided by intervening in the registry (no skipping as option or as default).
Jessie, I have went more into the mac world, I do have windows on parallels, on one of my macs! Another Great video from you, waiting on my m4 mac mini , cant wait!
All the usb-c on apple silicon MacBooks can be used to charge. So if pass usb-c cable with power to your adapter it should work. They are only rated to certain wattage so might not be as much as power brick.
Good luck on your journey. I have worked with Windows and Mac for a long time and have really only found a couple instances where I HAD to use windows for niche software, usually configuration and control software. I also am not a big gamer, only retro gaming which has many options on both platforms, as well as Rasberry Pi. I use a Logitech wireless Mouse (I use a trackball and always have back to my Amiga days) and keyboard using a single unify USB A receiver. Clears up wires and frees up a port. You can always use a hub like the Anker USB-C hub which has a bunch of ports (including sound and Ethernet, SDHC and HDMI) which leaves 3 ports on the MacBook available and will do all you need. I use an external monitor with the lid on the MacBook Pro closed so only one screen. But it works a charm and is only 1 cable connection to the MacBook Pro. All else is connected via the hub and monitor ports.
Great Video. Although I don’t have any Windows equipment anymore I have many friends who want to move to IMac. As IT expert my helping hand is quite often requested. The benefit is that my support after moving reduces to minimum😊

I recently bought this model not issues with it but felt little slower. Latest mac OS really required to operate this model? Please try to give lot more clarity on this particular model. Battery efficiency is my priority and also performance too 😁 not expecting like m1
I hope Apple fixes Apple silicon to be able to plug in external GPU boxes via thunderbolt 5. then its game on. even for the base M4 machines. the new Nvidia 5070 is just as powerful as last years 4090 card but is rumored to just cost $500 to $600. the 4090 was a $1600 card last year.
If using the full suite of AI software that Nvidia has, yes, it can "match" the 4090. In raw performance and specs, though; absolutely not. 5070 will be $550 MSRP
