I bought standalone versions of Word and Excel for my Mac for about $15 each. I bought them so I could quickly open/edit my Office files without having to launch Parallels and my Windows VM first. But during work hours, I only use the Windows versions of Excel and Word because I use custom toolbars and complex macros. The Mac versions don't have these features, or let's say they have some limitations compared to the Windows versions. That's one of the main reasons I still use Windows on my Mac.
I think Microsoft is doing this artificiality to give their windows versions more advantages than the macOS versions. There is nothing the Mac version can’t do that the windows can do, unless MS has limited it.
The ability to Export a .pages file into .docx file, while annoying, is the incredibly important feature that makes it a viable word replacement for a new Mac owner. Just as long as they remember to export.
I grew up an apple hater in the '90s. I bought my first mac around 2011/2012 with the MacBook Air. I loved it and loved macs ever since. I didn't fully switch right away as I was more of a PC gamer but over the years thanks to Vista, many windows failures and Apple silicone has turned me completely to a Apple user across the board and console gamer. Even though I was already primarily a mac user before M1 released, I felt like Apple was missing something to make the products even better. Come Nov 2020 and I got the answer. Intel was holding them back. M1 changed everything. I do have a MSI laptop from 2020 plus several old desktops but my M1 MBP with 16GB of that great unified memory and 2TB SSD is far superior in every way compared to the MSI with 32GB memory and I think 2 TB SSD. VS Code runs smooth in the MBP while freezes on the MSI. I love messing around with Xcode. Nothing in tech is perfect but Apple's hardware and software along with their customer service which thanks to their great quality rarely have to utilize, can't match anything on the PC side of things.
i have a macbook air mid 2011, it will be a nice idea to put sequoia in it? and also if I do something like thta can i put my iCloud or not? thank you im just lost with this
No need to buy MS Office of any version, just download and install the free Libre Office suite, or use Pages, etc but “export” your document in MS format rather than ‘save’ in Apple format.
I would always take the pay version instead of the subscription and look for a dealer who offers an OEM license. In other words, don't buy directly from Microsoft, as they charge significantly higher prices. I paid just under 30 dollars (~25 € in Europe) for my legal Office 2021 license linked to my Microsoft account. For the current version, however, you would pay around 60-80 dollars. The only question is, do you really need it? In any case, I wouldn't spend that much on Office, let alone sign up for a subscription.

@@ericdraven7857 I totally agree 👍
you can get previous versions of office for Mac. that come with outlook. office 2021. not 2024.
@@darrenhankner5282 thanks for the info! 👍
I use Google Drive also, but Microsoft 1TB cloud storage I also use as part of the 365 package, as it's less expensive than Google.

@@jhonataviniciusalmeidalope7356 I don’t recommend Sonoma or sequoia on Macs older than 2012….
@ and for example, can i put my Icloud when I do it the process with Opencore or no?
@@jhonataviniciusalmeidalope7356 yes that works as with a supported Mac 👍
@ thank you for your help 😁
why use anything cloud, just share via ssh or smb. You can always change the ssh port to make it more secure
Thank you so much - even I already have had this problems 😂 But now I change from Win to OS completely. 😊
Ok, still on the way to the 🍏 😅

I find the Mac version of Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) has missing important (to me) features compared to the Windows version.
