I know the feeling Mike when it comes to using Mercedes Road Side Assistance. I used them 2 years ago on another benz of mine and it took 9 HOURS for me to get my car to the dealership! 9 HORRIBLE HOURS!
Mercedes headquarters needs to fix their RSA program URGENTLY!
When they sent me a review email... I ripped into them. Of course, they are concerned with their service reputation and so they contacted me, I laid it all out and on the line of what happened and that it took 9 HOURS to get things done. When I could have just called a tow truck myself and got the problem resolved in like 2 hours!
I only use AAA or my insurance towing. AAA covers you when you're in any car, and if you platinum 200 mile tow, plus gives you many other benefits. I believe MBrace only tows to nearest Benz. My Infiniti dealer in suburban Chicago encouraged owners to get free car washes, breakfast, ice cream, cooked food right in front. MBZ dealer in North Olmstead didn't even have shuttle service, even though they eventually found someone to drive me 2 miles to a hotel. MBZ are great selling you a car, however their service centers lack in my opinion.

Makes sense, but also seems kinda wasteful to me. Also, idling an engine for a prolonged time is generally considered a bad practice.

Also, the engine may eat oil when it's sitting on idle and the turbo doesn't provide boost. The boost is needed to seal the bearing on the turbo, since it's not a classical bearing, but just a tiny gap through which oil goes and lets the turbo shaft "float" on the oil. It may not be an issue on some constructions, but turbocharged engines tend to eat oil because of that rather than, of course, N/A engines.

No runflat tires on your car? I have them in my gla and supposedly i can go up to 50mph for up to 50 miles so i just drove it over to repair it where i needed to

No run flats? My CLA has run flats, but I still called for a tow (was raining, the nail in it was scraping on the asphalt badly). Thankfully, didn't have a slew of weird phone calls with MBrace, they sent a correct tow right away.

Is Merc Roadside Assistance an included feature or a paid extra? Seems a veey long winded process just for a tyre change. On our Volvo V60 I also doesn't have a spare, but in the UK we rang the AA, they fitted a universal donut wheel and we thrm drove to a tyre shop and the AA followed and swapped the wheels back. Great service.

Had a similar problem with rear wheels..funny thing is the fact that the car was not able to be driven although the tyres were runflats?! My Bmw runflats drove like normal despite having a flat...

You're probably right. When he hit a pot hole and bent a rim, he took it and had it repaired. Then he bought a replacement rim because he didn't want to drive on a repaired one. (I can sort of understand that though because he does take the car to the track on occasion.)

Mate i feel your pain i have a black C200 in Australia and man it hurts when i saw mine on a flat bed as well our car was at the shop for 21 days i thought i would never get it back i think my mechanic feel in love with it any way i got it back and its all good

That's why they come with run flats when you buy them.
They dont have run flat tires. and a spare isn't necessary when you can just get it towed to a dealership for free

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I COULD SEE WAS YOUR SAFETY SITTING in that car the speed that cars and trucks passed u by mighty dangerous .surprised the cop didn't tell u wait beside the car near the railing / ditch.
Actually, its safer to stay in the car WITH your seatbelt on. The cars are designed to handle accidents, unlike our soft bodies.
Here in Germany it´s the law to wait behind the safety rail, wearing a security vest. But here you will get help within a much shorter time - especially when calling the mercedes service number.

And one suggestion for you, most auto shops sell a instant tire inflator in a can type of thing which can be super useful. I don't have a spare in my car either and those cans have come in handy quite a few times..basically what it does is inflate your tire and seal the hole then the idea is you drive it to go get it plugged.

I was informed by a VA tow truck driver that both Virginia and Pennsylvania offer a complimentary Interstate tow service that you can get in touch with by calling 711. He told me this as I was waiting for AAA to send a tow truck out to me in the Arlington area over Memorial Day weekend. Apparently, the State subsidizes the service in order to get broken down cars off of the road more quickly.
