My son recently purchased a new 2020 Civic. We also test drove the Corolla. I must say that the Corolla was downsized as I had issues getting in & out of the car & interior space was very tight. I used to drive the previous generation of the Corolla for work & had none of those issues. I had more room in the Chevy Sonic, & that's a sub-compact car. The Civic was very different. Not only was access so much better, but I have more than enough room inside the car. As far as I'm concerned, the 2 cars don't compare anymore.
I purchased a new 2020 sport sedan with the 6 speed manual transmission 6 weeks ago. It’s a very practical daily driver and should definitely last a few years! A great value 🙂
I just got one with the CVT. The only reason is I liked the color but it’s ok. It has a delay and only gets good power at the end. Almost like someone pushing the car and then gets a nice boost of energy so you can start it lol. All in all I love this car. I traded a Silverado for it and I love this car.
@@RaitisRides you back at it again. The Canadian market is a bit different. Most people go for either civic, corolla and Mazda 3 here in the East coast and also the SUV trend is growing due to our winters but that also means rising costs of those SUVS due to demand. I agree that the car needs a traditional transmission instead of the CVT. Secondly, I'm very upset with Honda discontinuing the coupe. There are people who still like driving coupes.
Coming from a 2017 Toyota Corolla SE and just leased a 2020 Civic Sport Coupe and it’s such a huge difference! As much as I loved my corolla as my first car, I love the sportier look to the Civic and the upgrades such as push to start, getting my windows rolled down with the key fob and even starting my car through the key fob! My wife has this Car 2020 Sport 2liter 6 speed manual, It gets Great mpgs 37 mpg at 79 mph all day long on 89 octane gasoline. Easy 45+ mpg if you drive it around 55-60 mph with 93 octane gasoline. Maybe I should do a Video of the read out after a 60 mile drive. Good luck finding one for $23.000 With under 1000 miles, Clean Title.
I have a Civic Sport so I'm probably a little biased in this in my answer. Yes for me a choose the Civic over the Corolla. I actually looked at the Corolla before I made my decision and hands down the Civic Sport won hands down. It may not have the performance that the SI does but at 66 years of age I don't need to be driving like I did @ 18 when I purchased a used 67 Camaro SS with the 4 speed manual lol. Thanks Joe

I appreciate you using common sense when doing your reviews. I know as a car reviewer it can be difficult to not expect luxury/insane performance from every car you test but every car is built to a price point. I see to often that interiors get picked on for not being fancy enough. Im like no, the 25k honda isnt going to compare to a 70k bmw lol
Love your civic reviews lol I cant get enough of looking at this car, particularly the hatch. I want one so bad but there's no manual options in Aus except type R.
I bought this car with the CVT but in gray about 8 months ago. Very happy with it. I drive mostly in the city and consistently get 37-42 mpg. Then it got rear-ended with over $4K in damage. We'll see what happens when it gets out of the shop.
I'm 71yo and my wife and I have had this 2019 Civic Sport for just over a year now and absolutely love it. It's everything that Joe said and more. It also has a great audio system with plenty of bass. I do have one Major Zonk with this car. Whoever designed the side storage pockets on the doors should be .... you know what I mean. I don't know what's behind the doors but only about half, if that door panel space is used. It would have also been nice to be able to reset the tripometer with the steering wheel functions instead of manually but that's probably on the higher end models. All in all, you can't go wrong with this car. The one thing that I almost forgot to mention that does concern me is that I had to replace the car battery after 14 months and 12,000 miles. When AAA came out to the house, the driver told me that he had to replace the battery on a 2019 Civic the day before. No, I don't sit in the car for hours on end listening to the radio. Fortunately the 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty covered this issue. Honda, you probably should look into this. Thanks again Joe!
Richard Favreau Sorry for the late response. The dealer told me the battery costs $200.00. I do my best to avoid potholes. Good so far as to avoiding damage. I have hit some. My problem was making too tight of a right turn. I’ve done it twice and have some nicks and minor tire damage. I’m a retired school bus driver and know better. I now make a mental note in those situations.
Agreed on the CVT. I would have bought Honda for my daily driver because the steering feel and braking feel / suspension felt really amazing for the price point but I ended up buying the 2019 Camry because no CVT, the 8 speed drives so much better. I just can't stand CVTs

I remember from when I was a kid, the Honda Civic was this Dinky stinky quirky little squared off hatchback that was just so weird to look at and look just so small. incidentally, my aunt also owned a Toyota Corolla coupe, and the thing I remember most was just how small it was and how damn difficult it was to get into. It's cool to see that Honda has kept dinky quirky little hatchback styling of Civics pasts, and for that reason alone I would definitely say that the Honda Civic Sport would be near the top of my list.
I am not sure if you have heard of this transmission but it’s called DCT. Better than a cvt or the traditional automatic tranny. You get a nice feel of the car and it shifts gears smoothly, it’s really nice. Better mileage too.
The civic is a great car and it has it quirks for being an affordable price however I think they really need to update the interior as the Corolla has the advantage
Nikola Gregic I can see how as a lot of the interior in both cars are different in style exterior and interior however I think that the Honda Civic for 2016 and now as the same style over the years and it’s just hard to tell what’s new in the car
i don't like the tablet style screen in the corolla. it reminds me of those mini dvd players with screens. pretty cheap that they tack on a screen instead of integrating it into the dash like the civic
I love it with Automatic because I don’t know how to drive manual. Plus I’m in New York City. There’s a lot of traffic here and stop lights. So having a manual is a pain in the legs.
Living in NYC and driving?? I only do subways in New York but since relocating to Texas, I've been driving Honda standard transmissions for 20 years last month and I must tell you-it's very fun and sporty to drive and it won't be a pain in any way - only thrills.
@@subwayfantx1608 With the covid right now, I don’t wanna take the subway. Subway has the biggest chance you can get covid cause everyone riding a subway. Yeah they said manual is fun but the traffic and speed limit here will limit that. There are a lot of times that you’ll be stuck in very slow traffic for an hour and if you’re driving manual, you’ll mostly hurt your feet every single day. It must be nice to drive there in texas I guess.
I'm a middle aged man having had all kinds of cars and at this point can comfortably afford just about any car. I want one of these Civics in hatchback form, and definitely manual transmission
I have the 6mt sport in white just like the video, I love the sportiness it gives the car while maintaining its calm, daily driving ability. I have an 02 si and this car is ALMOST as much fun to drive as the ep3. Anyways, great video like usual!👍🏼👍🏼
The CVT is awesome. My left foot loves to make love to the dead pedal under the moonlight everytime. Also, I have Call of Duty triggers with Duracell + & - printed behind the steering wheel
I test drove the Rallye Red 2020 Civic Sport and I loved it. Everything from the exterior to the interior was perfect. My only dislike was it's not available in Factory Black which would have been my first color choice. It's only black color is Crystal Black. But I really like the Rallye Red and the Modern Steel Metallic. Lunar Silver isn't too bad either. I'm hoping to get one in about a month or two depending on how much of a down payment I need
I think the Civic is more appealing than the Corolla, but the Mazda 3 would be my choice in this segment. Really looking forward to that Mazda 3 awd Turbo. Despite the torsion beam.
Had a 96 civic, drove it until the speedometer broke at 180k plus miles and sold it for $3500 two years after. Loved that car, manual and cloth interior and cheap to own.
IlIIlIlIlIlIl in Canada I believe they do since they have the touchscreen but I live in the US so no not here. The US mode lx does not have a touch screen
Loved the way you describe everything. I have Honda Civic 2020 Sedan and I do have armrest in the back and backpockets in the seats behind. I do not know how you don't get them on your car!
Honestly the 2020 Honda Civic is a huge game changer I have a 2015 Honda Civic Lx it runs similar to the 2020 model with slight modifications but anyways my mom got rid of her 2016 Nissan Sentra recently because it had hardly no power she originally wanted a Civic as a downsize from the 3 Honda Accords she used to have, but overall Honda Civic definitely is extremely nice for sure, to all you Cvt haters, atleast not all Cvt’s break down unlike Nissan for an example which luckily my mom never had that issue but still, and finally to all people saying the Civic is ugly and the interior sucks, you may want to take a look at Nissan for an example, some of the Toyota’s, and few other manufacturers as well. 🤔
It is a sophisticated compact sedan in an entry level price tag. The only downside would be the infotainment system, wish it has the new Accord info system. Mechanically this civic will run forever because of the NA engine and CVT. Great reivew, Raiti!
Haha, I was the youngest of three in the middle of the back seat growing up, but the elbows coming at me weren't resting. I felt like a pounded steak when we finally got home =(

Mazda 3 Sedan, Hyundai Sonata, and Kia Forte all the way! :) Also... It may be down on power but the Toyota Yaris Hatchback (Mazda 2) is a pretty fun, light, and efficient car too!
I'm gonna say yes, it is better. The ride and handling balance of the Civic is amazing for a cheap FWD car. Especially in Si trim with the LSD. Matter of fact why not just get a used Si instead of settling for something less.

Nikola Gregic I can see how as a lot of the interior in both cars are different in style exterior and interior however I think that the Honda Civic for 2016 and now as the same style over the years and it’s just hard to tell what’s new in the car
@@andy9651 They probably just waited to do an interior upgrade until the new version of the car comes out in the next year or so.
i don't like the tablet style screen in the corolla. it reminds me of those mini dvd players with screens. pretty cheap that they tack on a screen instead of integrating it into the dash like the civic
This is perfect timing; I'm trying to choose between a Civic Sport, Corolla Hybrid and Forte GT right now!
Have u seen the Honda Insight ? I think it’s a better car than the corolla hybrid it has more trims to chose from. The corolla only comes one way.
I see you Joe throttling that red light at 13:32 haha
LOL
That non-turbocharged engine, doing it's business. ;)
I love it with Automatic because I don’t know how to drive manual. Plus I’m in New York City. There’s a lot of traffic here and stop lights. So having a manual is a pain in the legs.
Thanks for letting me share this one with you!
@@Sauce-ke totally understand. Do your thing in this Covid mess and be safe.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and some laughs!
Hey, I would love to see you review the 2021 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback.
Agree with you joe! Hate the CVT transmission 🤢manual is the only way to go when it comes to a car.
Joe is the CVT not too bad? I’ve heard Honda CVt’s are pretty reliable nowadays.
Thanks for sharing that great input from your experience!
Yes the Civic Sport should DEFINITELY HAVE A TRADITIONAL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION over the whimpy lackluster CVT!!!!!
Civic is more driver focus in my opinion.I like it!!!!!
I completely agree about having a conventional automatic. CVTs are terrible, especially in Nissan vehicles.
I think the Civic is more appealing than the Corolla, but the Mazda 3 would be my choice in this segment. Really looking forward to that Mazda 3 awd Turbo. Despite the torsion beam.
Still loving my 2018 civic hatchback
Thanks for sharing that!
Had a 96 civic, drove it until the speedometer broke at 180k plus miles and sold it for $3500 two years after. Loved that car, manual and cloth interior and cheap to own.
I bought the touring version 4 days ago. Very happy owner.
Congrats ! I am so happy for you!
@@RaitisRides Thanks 🙂
My 2017 Civic Hatchback sport has 165,000 miles and counting. No problems with cvt been doing oil changes every 25,000 miles.
25,000 miles?! I've heard of 15,000 mile oil changes with certain full synthetic oils, but never 25,000 ...
@@2thePtBassTuT I meant for the CVT and 5,000 miles for motor.
I do really enjoy your videos. I like going thru the red light on this one. Lol. Seriously I do enjoy the videos. Keep up the good work
I REALLY want one of these! Thank you Mr. Raiti! Debating between a sport and an lx. Leaning towards the Lx for the price and value
You are so very welcome.Make sure you drive them back to back to get a real feel.
Raiti's Rides 👍
Does the LX have Apple CarPlay ?
IlIIlIlIlIlIl in Canada I believe they do since they have the touchscreen but I live in the US so no not here. The US mode lx does not have a touch screen
Spend a bit more and get the sport! You’ll get the alloy wheels in the Sport over hubcaps on the LX
I like the Honda Civic Hatchback Automatic transmission.
Nice man!
I own a 2020 hatchback sport but the CVT gotta go
Excellent review Joe😊. It's a good daily driver. They should have included pockets.
Very futuristic looking car
Loved the way you describe everything. I have Honda Civic 2020 Sedan and I do have armrest in the back and backpockets in the seats behind. I do not know how you don't get them on your car!
Nice review Joe!
I really appreciate you saying that!
The other people in the area: Hey Betty...there goes that car test guy again.😂
LMAO! You are so very right!
@@RaitisRides Love the videos. You are easily my go-to for car reviews!
Great first car got mines yesterday
That is so wonderful! Congrats!
Awesome review man I really enjoyed.
The civic looks awesome I saw it yesterday in the showroom
Thanks for the review.
I just bought one 2 weeks ago and I love my civic sport
@therealman I paid 22,395
@@Fazepagehonda i bought one this August and payed 21000
Haha, I was the youngest of three in the middle of the back seat growing up, but the elbows coming at me weren't resting. I felt like a pounded steak when we finally got home =(
Alright you sold me! Picking mines up tomorrow
I’m gonna be a picky Peter here; you told us under the hood it was natural aspiration and your first on throttle you said the turbo was doing it’s thing lol. You do put videos out everyday so who cares about a Teeny mistake lol. Keep up the good work joe!
I get 23/24 mpg in the city... although beautiful car! No problems! That’s Honda power and Honda reliability for you!
This right here Joe!!! All of this!!! I have a 2018 and love it!!! Great commuter car, handles great, excellent on gas and has storage everywhere!!! #RaitisRides #OnThrottle #ToTheDoorPanel #TwinkiesForDays #CrownVic #OnThrottleAgain #Zonkmeister #HondaCivic #ZonkOnTheCVT
Great video again my guy!!!!
I never get tired of civic
Mazda 3 Sedan, Hyundai Sonata, and Kia Forte all the way! :) Also... It may be down on power but the Toyota Yaris Hatchback (Mazda 2) is a pretty fun, light, and efficient car too!
I like the way you think Jason!
I am two years late! But I still buy one Joe.
I’m with you Joe. I hate those CVT trans. The sound and the drive dynamics are so lack luster. To me it’s the true combo of a throw away economy car.
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
Nice video k guys y doing the civic reveiw the most!
Thanks Jay! I am so glad that I can share it with you!
I have this car in black and I LOVE IT 🤩💖 I just wish it had a sunroof lol
I have a question can u turn the theme to blue instead of red like the other ones
@@Mir-bt9vm only in the infotainment screen not the gauge cluster /:
I'm gonna say yes, it is better. The ride and handling balance of the Civic is amazing for a cheap FWD car. Especially in Si trim with the LSD. Matter of fact why not just get a used Si instead of settling for something less.
Great car to buy for sure! Especially if you’re the kind of person that likes to work on their own car. Tones of working room, nothing cramped
This with a manual is pretty much a naturally aspirated version of the Si, would be perfect with the ILX engine.
I hate CVTs in general and I would really reconsider buying a car with a CVT. I much prefer conventional automatics.
I prefer the civic for Style, Fun to drive and great economy on gas. That's why I love mine. 👍
