      You don't have to because it's considered transformative afaik. As long as the ingredients are okay and you're not marketing jolly rancher you should be okay. That's why most people brand them as "jolly puffs" or something (mine are called happy ranchers lmao)

    Jury still out on my purchasing a freeze dryer. I’m not interested in a business, I’m 75 and live alone, and just haven’t been able to justify its purchase. I have two children with their own families who both live nearby. If they would “join in the fun” I could justify it. Space is really not a problem. Just confused. Wish you could help me decide.

    • @kathySwan-c5q
      @kathySwan-c5q 11 місяців тому +1

      I get it as a person alone. Ask your children and show them some of these videos. My 11 year old granddaughter came to visit over Christmas. She had a blast helping me with freeze drying. There are so many things you can preserve long term.. I make a lot of soup, stew and chili for my husband to take to work for lunch or eat when I do not want to cook. Freeze drying is fun for all. You may also want to check out John in Bibs on youtube he has a great channel.

    • @freezedriedbusiness
      @freezedriedbusiness  11 місяців тому +1

      It's an expensive machine compared to other preservation methods but if you use it for home use while also selling some products on the side, it helps make your money back and then you don't have the stress of the cost.

    A couple observations. Shouldn’t the scale be NTEP certified. In addition since you’re selling it online and shipping it cross state lines I thought USDA has authority and FDA applies Therefore you would need to have nutritional information.

    • @freezedriedbusiness
      @freezedriedbusiness  10 місяців тому +1

      Like I said in the video, different states have different food laws so until they pass you off to the FDA to regulate your food business then you are going by the state or county laws. I’ve done the research. Your second question on nutrition is answered in the video, you’ll find all link to the FDA website in the video description.

    • @ollieandson
      @ollieandson 10 місяців тому

      I have done the research and we are a licensed commercial plant facility. We don’t have some cottage food licensed that any Joe off the street can easily get. I don’t completely agree with the advice your giving and don’t agree that you should be selling online and across state lines with a commercial cottage license and using a scale from Walmart so maybe a call to the USDA is the best option.
