AFFILIATE LINK DISCLOSURE: Friends, making a quality Loloho video is kind of like making sausage - only slightly more violent. It's a ridiculous amount of work that typically involves high dollar camera drops, blue-screen-of-death computer crashes, and at least one angry shotgun wielding old man shouting, “Hey! Get the hell outta here!” Once the final video is posted, rewards here on UA-cam are few and far between (unless you are a masochist who enjoys being verbally abused by anonymous trolls). One saving grace is our affiliate links. JUST CLICKING THESE LINKS HELPS TO SUPPORT OUR LITTLE SHOW. Think of this clicking as like tipping - except that it doesn't cost you anything extra! If you eventually make a purchase via one of our affiliate links, we will receive a few pennies (and Sean typically invests these pennies in duct tape and video gear). Again, it doesn't cost you anything to click these links, and it's a great help to us. As always, safe travels, happy camping, and THANK YOU!

Yes, I just heard that from a few others. I'm glad to hear it! When we did our video last year for the 2021 season they had not yet decided on if the showers would be available or not. Glad to hear that they did decide to open them!

I'm so glad to hear that! When we were doing research for the 2021 season the park service had not yet decided if they were going to open showers. I never saw an announcement or press release that they did open, so I just assumed they stayed closed all season. Hearing that they did in fact open them gives me hope that the public showers at the lodges might open this year. Thanks for letting us know!

On the upside...the road from Canyon north to Tower-Roosevelt is open after two years of re-aligning and resurfacing; including a big new parking lot at Tower Fall. And Happy Birthday to good ole Yellowstone National Park, which turned 150 on March 1. 2022!

We have been at Gros Ventre now two weeks. Been alot of Moose up until a week ago and now the young males have moved. Like always there along the river everyday. Had two different sets of Bear moms with 2 cubs each come through String Lake. Moose-Wilson has been busy on the weekend and shut down due to construction.. Airport is on scheduled to reopen June as advertized. Tonight we might see some new snow on Mountains. Looking to get 8000' and above snow. Campground has been busy this season. Wildlife Brigade has been busy. Yesterday we heard of two different Bear Jams, one at Oxbow and one at Jenny Lake. Snow still covering alot of upper trails so not to go for us average hikers. Arriving here via the Togwogee Pass was so beautiful this time of year. Alot of snow on top. String Lake has been busy with Hikers this early season. Yall take care and Star and I say hello. .

If you are ever around North East Yellowstone on the 4th of July, just outside the the North East gate is Cooke City. It is without a doubt the best 4th of July fireworks we have ever seen. And you may have mentioned this in one of your videos but the Beartooth Highway about 20 minutes North east of Cooke City is one of the most beautiful drives and places on earth.

I visited Yellowstone Park around the first of June, 1975. In places snow was 8' deep on the sides on the road. The road from Old Faithful to the southern exit was closed because they didn't plow that road all winter. The day after we left, I heard on the radio that they closed the park due to a snowstorm.

I know what you mean about getting away from people in the park, we took an ~1.5 mile hike from the petrified tree back to Roosevelt lodge where we were staying, didn't see a single other person in the entire ~40 minutes we were hiking. That's why when people talk about how crowded the park has become I figure they just tried to drive from attraction to attraction, even during the busiest of times of the year the trails are less crowded than the popular ones in New Hampshire.

In the early days of the "Stay at home" orders I began watching many travel videos on youtube. I found it interesting that many videos featured trails that could be hiked. In this video, you mentioned many people only venture out a couple hundred feet from the parking lot. As a child and teenager we visited many national parks, and oddly I never knew that were trails available to hike. Leaving me to wonder if the trails existed 50 years ago, or my parents only took us to the attractions.

OK So I have brag a little bit.
During the winter we decided to go visit the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone in May or June. I could not find anything !!!!!
Tried campgrounds, I want to boondock. My 5th wheel is set up for it. 1500 watts solar and 600AH worth of batteries.
Anyways found some camping in Livingston and was just going to travel into the park everyday.
So last week I am on the Yellowstone site trying to figure out how to make a reservation for next year or the year after and 1 site is currently available at fishing bridge campground. I have a 4 night stay 5/27 -5/31 according to the online system
Called reservations to confirm it was legit and it is !!!!!
Talk about a blind squirrel finding a nut.
Would like some information if possible for places to stay in the Grand Tetons prior to the 27
Also talking to the reservation agent you can reserve 13 months in advance. So like you can book June 2023 this June 5th and so on.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vince

My wife and I have enjoyed years of your videos (several each evening) but have a question. What are your drone video techniques? Do you pilot from outside the truck while Kristy drives (or vice-versa)? Or use DJI’s follow or circle mode? Did you have to get the FAA license for commercial use? How often is flight banned in parks (Regional and State; I know National are no fly)? Have you ever run into objections from other campers at a park as you’ve done aerial surveys or flybys (privacy, etc.) for your campground videos? Questions from a 40-year RC pilot. We love your channel and can’t wait to get on the road with our new-to-us 25’ International with a rear hatch to load large turbine jets and paramotors (the latter when I want to really fly)! Thanks for all you do!

Gonna skip Yellowstone/Grand Teton this year for the first time since 1996, just won't be worth it. Last year was insane without most of the closures. One note, Washburn road which has been closed for a couple years will be open this summer.

The Lamar valley is probably the best thing about the park, easily worth the hour+ of construction delay going in and out. Perhaps we've been lucky but all 3 times we've been to the park we've seen wolves and/or grizzly feeding on bison kills.

I honestly regret that these recent videos seem negative. I mean, overall I'm sure that everyone going will have a great time... the mountains and geysers aren't going anywhere. :-) but it's good to know about some of these changes. Truthfully Yosemite and Glacier are less appealing now with the rules changes. I guess the upside is that crowds may be reduced.

This particular video is soooo timely as were planning (6 months) in advance to book spaces for mid-September!
What concerns me is potential for crowds AND rising fuel prices.
What’s you guys take on that?

    • @LongLongHoneymoon
      @LongLongHoneymoon  2 роки тому +1

As Master Yoda once said, always in motion is the future. It's hard to predict. But honestly I see fuel prices going very high, along with other forms of inflation. We canceled Keystone XL and aggressively stepped back from being energy independent (even Elon Musk yesterday said we need to ramp back up oil & gas production). Over the past year, inflation in general has been skyrocketing. This may reduce crowds in the RV space. We are still planning to go as usual, of course. Personally I would recommend you book your reservation, but pay attention to the cancellation policy. I believe you have the right to cancel if necessary.

Not sure how to select camping spot... most difficult Reservation system. Most Reservation systems go by length of camper.

DANG GIRL... thanks for all the computer research (we know big boy was hiding in the garage changing oil and huffing gas with all those generators. while you slaved away). My mental picture was stuck in the memories of 54 years ago (scientific calculator and abacus to figure that out) in the the TRUCK CAMPER from Indiana to California (when it was free) for a 3 week vacation out west with dad, mom my sister, me AND MY DAD'S PARENTS.., we had a great time!
While I can read paper maps and do a lot of math in my head, GPS is nice but not perfect. Many mental pictures with all those road maps spread out out on the hood and dash. When you got lost you took responsibility and no scapegoating some all-knowing big eyeball tracking your every move. A lot more seat of the pants adventure just showing up to absorb the experience, albeit a few less people Two shoes boxes full with maps and pamphlets at the end. I would need to find my unicorn lady to do the technology now and doubt she would have the patience for me.
I only have a few pictures and just a couple of foggy memories of the 1957 trip across Route 66 to California in dad's 1953 Packard convertible with mom, dad, me and mom's mom.
ANYWAY thank you S YAWN and Kreeeesty for all those hours you spend in front of the screen
