  • VET APPROVED HOMEMADE + HEALTHY DOG FOOD RECIPE | COOKING FOR YOUR DOG | PART 5
    part 1: • VET APPROVED HOMEMADE ...
    part 2: • VET APPROVED HOMEMADE ...
part 3: • TWO HOMEMADE DOG TREAT...
    part 4: • VET APPROVED HOMEMADE ...
Vet Approved homemade dog food recipe (This makes about 20 cups)
*I used a 10qt instant pot for this recipe
    Ingredients:
    -3 pounds of chicken breast
    -7.5 ounces of pumpkin puree
    -3T coconut oil
    -3 cups of carrot
    -3 cups of green beans
    -3 cups of celery
-2 1/2C of dry brown rice or 6 cups cooked
    -2 eggs
    -4C water
    - 1/3C of beef liver chopped
    -5t of calcium
    optional: 1-2t of turmeric powder
Add chicken breast to a pot and cover with water. Boil for about 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and then shred.
Wash all veggies if using fresh and chop into small chunks. Add all ingredients in instant pot, give a good mix. Add lid to instant pot and pressure cook for 20 minutes on high. When timer goes off allow steam to naturally release. I then add 5t of calcium. It tells you on the back of the calcium bottle how much to add per pound! 5t works perfect for this recipe. Serve to dogs warm so please allow time for it to cool before serving it to your pup! This recipe will last 3-4 days in the fridge. I freeze extras and take out of freezer to thaw the night before as needed. My dogs eat this recipe cold but feel free to heat it up if needed.
Serving size guide for full day of eating: ( This is just a guide! Please consult with your dog's vet to make sure they are getting the perfect serving size)
    3-5 pounds: 1/4cup- 1/3cup
    5-10 pounds: 1/3 cup- 1/2 cup
    10-20 pounds: 1/2 cup- 3/4 cup
    20-30 pounds: 3/4 cup- 1 cup
    40-50 pounds: 1 1/2 cups- 2 cups
    50-60 pounds: 2 cups- 2 1/4 cups
    60-70 pounds: 2 1/4 cups- 2 1/2 cups
    70-80 pounds: 2 1/2 cups- 2 3/4 cups
    80-100 pound: 2 3/4 cups- 3 1/4 cups
My dogs eat twice a day with snacks in between meals.

I am so glad to have discovered your channel. Our dog, Nugget has been having intestinal issues for 3 weeks and has lost weight. Literally discovered your videos last evening and ran to buy products to prepare this "Gourmet" meal and we're so elated. After weeks of numerous doctor visits, appetite stimulants, loose stool, and vomit, our little boy ate his first full meal with ease last night and had a solid poop this morning. THANK YOU @LoveLexyNicole!!! Truly THANKS A MILLION!!!

Too many vegetables per most pet nutrition experts. Unfortunately, most vets like our human doctors are not well educated in nutrition 😢
I do applaud you for making their food, far better nutrition than store bought pet food ❤️

Thanks so much for posting this. Home made doggie food saved my dogs ‘‘ life!!! He also gets a few drops of CBD each meal. He recovered immediately and has been well ever since.
He is 15 and was severely ill. He suffered extreme Dysentary ev 3-4 weeks. For months. He was getting weaker and sicker. The vet just gave the same remedy every time without ever exploring why?
He ordered dewormer, antibiotics, probiotics and a steroid shot each time. And each time he would get better. For a few weeks.
I switched him over to homemade dog food similar to yours! On May 2021. It’s now Feb 21 2023 He is like a puppy now. I am so grateful for his health. We use chicken thighs on sale by the 5# family packs. And all the other ingredients that you mention!

I am so glad I came across your channel! We have a 18 mo old golden retriever named Barklee and a 5 mo old goldendoodle named Bentlee. I am going to get started with the homemade food cause I think they will love it and mix it with their kibble. And your recipes for the dog treats are amazing looking. I have watched all your videos and enjoyed the training you have done. Our doodle is really hyper which is making training a challenge, but I am still trying. Thanks for your videos!!!!

I started making homemade dog food back in July from your previous recipes for my dog because he has always had digestive issues anytime he eats kibble.
He loves it and has not had any flare ups since I started him on it. I just made him a batch of food on Friday but I can’t wait to try this new one.
Would you be able to do a video on how you trained your dogs? Like how they know to ring the bell to go outside and I noticed how you do the hand motion to get them to speak.

Love this channel! Just ordered my instantpot and the slow bowls! I never thought about how fast they eat and how it could cause problems, thank you so much for those tips! Do you (or anyone else know) if you are feeding half homemade and half kibble, should you still add the calcium powder and the other supplements? We are going to switch to all homemade but we have nearly a full bag of kibble and I want to wean them off slowly to avoid upset tummies. The kibble is Purina One, the Chicken and Rice Adult. Ordered a 40 lb bag, yikes!

GIRLLLL! I just used your recipe (with very little modifications) and both my dogs have been devouring the food since last night. There was so much drama and tantrums (mostly from my husky) over having to wait for the food to cool down lol. Thank you so much! The husky was a very picky eater with sensitive stomach and has been on terrible Royal Canin prescription food for almost 2 months now (first ingredient being "chicken by product meal" - barf). So far so good, stool is perfect and so is his mood!

Love what your doing great video. I do just about the same recipe for my pup but I put the chicken breast in the pressure cooker first with a little water then when it’s done I take it out and I’m left with a whole bunch of water/chicken fat juices. That’s where I add the veggies and everything to the juice thats left the rice sucks up it all up. My thought was all that fat might be good. Is this ok or a bad idea? To anyone who would share some knowledge please do.

Our Boston Terrier is just like your Bentley, she throws up every day and has atrocious breath. We switched from hydrolzyed chicken kibble to this recipe. She absolutely loves it. We went to Vet and she is 100% in favor of HM food for our girl. One question, do you recall how long it was before Bentley's breath got better? I'm guessing it takes awhile for their GI tract to heal from the allergic reactions. Thank you for your videos, they have helped us so much already.

    Hi love your videos,
I had been making homemade dog food as well when I did research they said to add black pepper to activate the turmeric, you can even use ground ginger powder, I bought organic turmeric and ginger powder at a health food store, they also had bone broth just for dogs in the pet section.
I also add in some ground flaxseed and sprinkle a little chia seeds.
    Just thought I'd share.

I love your dog food recipes and so does my doggie Princess. Just a quick tip regarding ground chicken, you can make your own ground chicken by putting the chicken in the food processor🐕💖

I’ve been feeding my pom your recipe since last summer and he absolutely lovessss it! His favorite snack is chicken so I am so happy you have this new recipe with chicken!
For the beef organs, do you know what particular organs they are or what brand you get them from? I’ve been looking at different stores and can only find beef liver. Thanks for the video!

I love all the recipes but my dog is not a fan of rice. I have thought about trying quinoa. Have you ever tried it with your recipes? I am not sure about the ins and outs of using quinoa from rinsing to making sure there are no skins on the seed. Would you please make a video for home made dog food using quinoa? ❤

Hey Lexy! First off, thank you so much for your videos! I have tried your grd turkey and grd beef recipes. My dogs loved both but the oil from the beef didn't sit well on my little Chihuahua/terrier's tummy. I tried this shredded chicken recipe last night and had an issue with it burning. I use a 10qt IP as well and put everything in, stirred it up and then got a burn warning. This kept happening. I even removed the food, cleaned the pot and tried again with same issue. I ended up having to finish it in a pot on the stove. I had no issues with your other recipes so im wondering if you know what could have caused the issue?

Thank you so much 💗 oh no 😩 I’m sorry that happened for you. I’m so surprised to hear that because that usually means there is not enough liquid added. Make sure the mixture is covered with liquid kind of like how mine looked. You can also pour out extra water if it’s too much after it’s done cooking.

I have a 6qt instant pot. Do you think I am able to still do this recipe with the same measurements (20 cups)? (With ground turkey instead)
I am avoiding buying a whole new one

Thanks for watching! I think if you cook the meat separately it will fit. But I don’t think it will fit if you cook the turkey with the recipe.

I diced up my Chicken raw and then added the diced chicken with all the other ingredients into my slow cooker and cooked on medium heat for 8 hours. I then took a meat tenderizer and smashed it through the food, It turned out great!

Hi..Thank you for all the info on making homemade dog food. This is the first time I am trying it out for my pups! I wanted to let you know, for some reason my IP would not come to pressure. I tried adding more water but it still would not work. I ended up putting it on the stove. Hoping it comes out ok! 🐶

We've been doing your 1st recipe for almost 6 months for our dogs. Going to change up a bit to this new one. The babies are doing well on homemade but I've got to tell you..the price of chicken (whole or ground) lately...whooo! Thanks for all you provide.

Agree with you there! In my area ground beef is super pricey too but I don't want to always feed them turkey, so I'm trying to figure out what to do about that. I have heard meat markets are less expensive if you can find one, also sometimes Aldi's is good. We have a Sav-Alot here in my area and their meats are less expensive while still being great quality. Hope you can find something that works!

We buy 5# Chicken thighs on sale for $8 we never use breast. The thighs are juicer and richer in flavor. We use the stock to cook the rice.

You can actually put chicken in a food processor, and it will ground it for you. The best tip I have yet to find and it comes in handy!!

That’s awesome! Instead of buying a large enough processor I’m just going to buy the meat grinder attachment for my kitchen aid which would do the job!
