Agreed. Both the keyboard and guitar solos are great. I always enjoy how the two instruments weave together at the end before the drums lead the song back into the opening riff. Great stuff and fun to play.
Thank you for the doing "Light my Fire". This is just one the best songs that made me a big fan of Jim Morrison and the Doors. You're great! I owe a lot from you. Especially with Beatles songs. More power!
Thank you for giving the chords at the end...this gives us wanna-bees something to work with while watching your video...it becomes more of an educational/learning thing than just a "gee, I wish I could be as good as that guy" thing. Again thanks...
my gosh i enjoyed it. this song inspired me to pick up a guitar ...love this song...was hoping for the long version. heh ho still played great. well done you matey
JJ your a hoot. I love the end "then it goes to the part I neither play nor like" I so dig you just keep it honest. If your not having fun whats the point. Im so glad your kept going after PT. Hope this is way more fun..... Becouse I habe learned a ton from you, thanks so much..... Have a terrific day. .... thank you
Akileish and JJ: Jim Morrison had the intangible "IT". He was a genius in the traditional academic sense and a charismatic performer. He was the perfect front-man for the Doors. Like a lot of rock stars that die young, so much has been made-of the Jim Morrison legend-it is kind of silly. An example of this is the book No One Here gets out Alive. IMO, Jim Morrison was a charismatic, highly intelligent Rock Star who had "demons" that got the better of him, and died years before his time.
You always nail the subtle things like add 7ths and sus2 or 4. Once again I learned this way wrong, too many major chords. I'll have to tackle it again though it's a keyboard intensive tune. It was nice to see you do some more single note stuff. My requests are on your page so I won't bomb you here. If there's a better way to submit requests please tell me. I'm not trying to annoy you.
I know it's not really a guitar song but do you think you could do some type of rhythm acoustic part for life on mars? It's a great song and I'd love to be able to play along. Anywas, keep up the great work man your videos have helped me a lot 😊
Wow i like The Doors Music and i try playing the solo part of the song & it was kind of hard for me. You Play the Song Great besides teach the Song Thanks!
James... did Robbie Krieger play with his fingers only? I dont ever recall him playing with a pick.. . also did you cover the Alabama song on P.T chanel?
JJ, do you think you could do another Rory Gallagher lesson. I mean a easy or pseudo-easy one. Even though I am 53 and been playing a few years. I still consider myself a beginner. I only wish I had started when I first wanted to. Back when I was watching the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. Maybe I would be as good as you now? Well MAYBE! Thanks again for all your videos, I have learned a lot from you. Not just song lessons but also Music Trivia. I am a big history and trivia buff.
Didn't know the A and F# was minor 7th chords, always wondered why the verse's sounded so jazzy. Im with you about not liking the longer version. Also like that you played along to the version in correct pitch. Ive seen people try to argue that the original or widely released one wasn't slowed down.
I don't really like a lot of doors but I like this song. Could you give les fleur des lys version of circles a listen and do a video on it? the lead is so cool and I can't figure out the solo it's really cool it sounds sort of late yardbirds, page produced it. hah
sweet choice of guitar and the finger picking is a nice xtra touch. so maybe if you want to give that SG a real workout how about QMS intro to 'who do you love' from the happy trails LP ?
+James James but lessons really help us. splitting can be done on youtube itself. Since you're replying, 1. We all know you'll kill it but why do you never play stairway solo? 2. Please play Achilles Last Stand sometime.
+Default Chrome If I were concerned about videos being deleted, I would download them from UA-cam. 1. There are already many great videos of the Stairway solo. My version wouldn't add much to the canon. 2. I posted Achilles and it was blocked.
+James James 1. You always add licks Jimmy plays in live versions. Perhaps you'd post lesson/play-along of stairway live version. 2. By the time I started watching your videos, that got deleted. Post a new one please
JJ, what do you personally feel about Jim Morrison? Is he actually awesome or just a drunken buffoon posing as a poet? I'm confused with this man and I doubt whether to listen to more of Doors stuff because of this conflict.
+Akileish Ramanathan In my opinion, he was one of the truly gifted writers of the 20th century. But he became a raging alcoholic at a young age. And unfortunately, that was during a time when we weren't so sophisticated about how to help an addict. Like most alcoholics, he was alternately awesome and buffoonish. And he clearly had a fixation with death, so that fatalistic outlook didn't bode well for potential recovery.
I'd missed a few of these critical chord changes - thank you. Manzarek's keyboards are so dominant and quintessentially 60's, I must've blissed out.
"How the How" do you remember so many notes and chords....unbelievable !!!
Actually I like the long version, but just the same thanks for this one.
+TonyHickschick yeah more to it

I see a bass hanging on your wall. Would love to see you play it! Thanks!
Thanks you, I like your lessons. Good job! Greetings from the Czech Republic!

I could totally hear you bluesing it up and doing "Cars Hiss By My Window".
JJ your a hoot. I love the end "then it goes to the part I neither play nor like"

Im so glad your kept going after PT. Hope this is way more fun.....

Have a terrific day. .... thank you
Fantastic! Thanks for showing how to play this!
Hi PT, glad you're back. I've made more progress watching you (and practicing :-)) than in my past 20 years.
Thanks for that. Keep it up.

Very good love this ..
I see you are using the same brand of picks that Krieger uses. ;) Shiny.

YESSS. James, you have to do something from the album Happy Trails.

+Sebastian drew I posted a bunch of Doors songs on privettricker.
Yes, I knowI'm a big fan of yours I love your work on privettricker
Nice and thanks
Those SG's never hold tuning...same problem with mine!!! That factor alone made me sell mine....irritating.
Hello Mr James! Please can you do People are Strange lesson
+Luis Miguel Sioron I second that request. Not much GOOD Doors lessons on YT. Well none as good as PT/James James.
What effects are you using?
Sounds like maybe tremolo and chorus?
+E Man Neither, actually. Just a little echo.
+James James Thanks. Fun song to play, Robby was only playing electric guitar for around a year when this was recorded. Very underrated guitarist.
James James there is definitely reverb on there?
Nice!
Nice
Are you a Krieger fan?
Can you do tombstone shadow by credence Clearwater revival
what do you think boit Robby Krieger?
It's half step down?
I don’t recall, I just tuned to the recording.
please split play along and lesson parts in to separate videos. play along videos might get deleted later.
+Default Chrome But I don't care if they get deleted.

+James Richards Garbage.
James James I figured that's what you'd say.
+James Richards cos it is garbage lol
+James James You should do The End by the doors! that would be sweet!
I posted a lesson on the privettricker channel.
