first video I watch of this guy. He is very clear, to the point and has a nice energy. I think this is my new go-to channel for boardgame explanations. Amazing job!
Just found out about this game because Renegade announced the expansion, this was my first stop seeing as how I loved your other "How to Play" videos of their games. Thank you for this video and it looks like another purchase for me.
They are great for not only deciding if a certain game is for me but also if I can't seem to explain something right to another person at our table I can pull up your video and have no doubt they will understand thanks to you
Just got this game, and I watched this video to learn how to play it. Holy crap, that is a LOT to remember! I'm excited to play but also worried that I'm not going to be able to remember all that, let alone explain it to my friends.
A trick I like to do when learning a game, but I think it’s going to be difficult to teach is play a round or two by myself, and perform every move/action that the rulebook says you can do. I find going through the motions of the actions helps me retain it. For items that you think you going to forget, usually an upkeep action like “at the beginning of your turn, don’t forget to do X.” I make a little point form list on my phone that I keep out beside me and I tell everyone else these are probably the things we’re going to forget to do. I find doing so usually ends out with one person remembering to do it, or reminding you to do it.
I ended up teaching the game to two friends, and it wasn't as hard as I was worried it would be. The setup is a doozy (though not the worst I've seen in that respect), but once we got going, things clicked pretty quickly. ...except that I went through a period where I kept forgetting to discard my cards and would get to the next turn and be like "didn't I have these last turn?" But eventually I got better, and came in a solid second place. Definitely going to play this again!
Why does Roxanne have only one number at the bottom-left of the card? Can someone help me? The game instructs to consider numbers on the top-right, am I wrong?
@@BoardGameCoffee 100% meant as a compliment. Rodney's great. I wanted to clarify, just in case it came off the wrong way, like you guys are 100% doing you. Like if you guys were a Watch It Played copy, well, there's already a Watch It Played. Glad I found you guys. Thanks for the video
7:54 If a player steps upon another player who hasn't played his turn yet, what happens? Does he cancels other player's turn or the other player plays normally on his turn?
Great video, very helpful thanks!! One question, if a vampire gets back to the castle early, they cannot move or hunt but do they still continue to draw cards on subsequent turns? Or do they sit there and do nothing until the game is over?
When preparing for the next turn, Draw Hunt Cards, if a Slow human card is drawn it goes straight to the 2 column - is another card drawn to fill the still empty 3 column slot - so all slots in 3 column should have a card filled or is it sometimes there will be nothing there?
@@BoardGameCoffee it was fantastic! Definitely preferred over clank in space. Tension was definitely higher I didn’t even end up making it back and got hit with -15pts but managed to pull it out with lots of missions picked up and a rose bump each round. Your video was super helpful :)
In the rulebook setup it doesn't say to draw cards and put them on the hunting track this we start round one with no cards in hunt track (expert mode, not rookie), Am I missing something?
Step 14 “ prepare the Hunt track” in the rulebook talks about filling out track. Right after “prepare your 1st turn“. I did it earlier in the video but it still works out to the same. And if it helps to put your mind at ease this video was approved by the renegade team :)
@@Wugayani absolutely no problem at all, glad I could help. And you asked at a good time, the way my brain works in another week I’ll have no idea how to play this myself lol 😂
2 questions, When you hunt a human and you apply the victory points, do you also apply any effect that this card may have? When an effect makes you draw a card, do you draw it from your personnal deck and put it in play, or do you draw it from the hunt card pile and put it in the discard pile (if so, i assume you add your points to your total, but then is it considered as a hunt action? (as other card effect gives you points for when you hunt at least 1 human in that turn and such...))
5:50 If the card has a dark background under the effect then that effect is applied immediately when it is hunted. 8:56 Draw from the top of your deck, not from the hunt deck.
Looks like a good boardgame although the player counters cheapen the overall aesthetic in my opinion, especially when compared to the amazing art for everything else. You'd reckon they'd have high quality/detailed miniatures instead. Great video and explanation!
Thank you :) regarding the player bits, if I had to guess, I would say it was a cost thing. Creating minis really increases the cost. But I can’t say for sure, just speculating 🤔
One of the best "HOW TO PLAY" videos on youtube! Keep it up
You’re too kind… tell your friends :)

Thanks Sasha! Tell your friends 😎 The more the channel grows, the more how to plays we get to do. Thank u again for your support
Great video and well explained. I saw a couple of other videos and no one did as good as you did. Thanks!
With all the great talent out there making how to play videos I’m honoured by that statement. Thank you. :)
4:15 wow, that beige/gold really IS difficult to see
Yeah, that’s why I thought it would be a good idea to mention the “discard” key word, to help discern between the two.

The how to play is really well done! You get the exact idea how everything works! Thumbs up for that 👍
Thanks Bruce ;)
absolutely
Why does Roxanne have only one number at the bottom-left of the card? Can someone help me?
The game instructs to consider numbers on the top-right, am I wrong?
This video was so helpful, much more than the rule book. Much appreciated!
And I appreciate you Stacie. Glad the video helped :)
Didn't think Rodney would ever have serious competition, but that was a super rules teach
Rodney is awesome so I take that as a great compliment, thank you :)

What a great vid! Excellent 'How to play' and video presentation/effects.
Thank you so much :)
Other board game reviewers could learn from your work, *outstanding* 10/10
Nice tutorial ;) may i ask how do you use sheet and promo cards with character powers? do you have an extra starting card? Thanks
I’ve never even seen promo characters. So I don’t think I can be much help
When you collect a chest do you have to use it on that turn? Or can it be used your next turn, or any other turn during the game?
Clear and pleasant explanation
Glad I could help :)
Super clear and informative, thanks a bunch.
You are very welcome 🤗
snazzy intro, amazing video production, and I know how to play the game now 10/10
Why thank you Natalee. Tell your friends ;)

I don’t recall off the top of my head but I did send off your question.
How about the interaction between players?
What about it exactly? If I can help I will, just not sure what you're asking
@@BoardGameCoffee sorry my English is not good,I wonder if players can interfere with each other, because me and my friends like party games~
Can't wait to try playing this one!
Very reminiscent of Clank! With a fun twist :)
Oh yeah, I can see that. The whole good deep and leave before you lose all your points thing.
Nie mogę doczekać się polskiej wersji. Pozdrawiam z Polski. ps; świetnie wytłumaczona gra.
The intro was 🔥
😎 thank you
Why do some villager cards have a dark house icon, but others a light house icon? I can't figure it out...
just a misprint where the icon must've been doubled up. No gameplay meaning/difference.
Looks like loads of fun!
Also the ASMR at the beginning is so satisfying 🙌
We aim to please :)
