Normally this song has a sense of dark energy. It sounds brilliant and almost heroic, but as it escalates, it gains a sense of dread that peaks along with the fight happening on screen.
But like this, it’s a dirge. It’s a mournful melody, a lamentation, funeral march for Asuka. It’s a somber reflection and reminder that even when the fight looks like it’s been won, there will be no victory. Only death.
