My dad is an RAF veteran so I’ve always been interested in aircraft. I’ve watched Concorde fly over our house every Tuesday, seen F35s take off and land, I’ve witnessed The Red Arrows displays many times and I see/hear/smell Spitfires every day as I still live near Daedalus airport. I still get excited every time a Spitfire takes off and run outside to admire it. Yes - I’m a geek! 😂

Then it should use distance over time like MPH, km/h, knots, etc…. not Mach which doesn’t apply to anything in a vacuum.
Mach is also a poor measure of speed in aircraft. We use Mach at high speed like we use indicated airspeed at low speeds because the aircraft will behave the same aerodynamically at the same IAS or Mach which is important for performance and safety.
But true airspeed can be very different. Like when the SR-71 flies in cold air and can get a faster Mach.. the speed of sound is slower in cold air so the true airspeed is the same. It’s not going any “faster”.

Yet even as blisteringly fast as the ISS is, it would still take almost 20 years to reach Neptune, the outer-most planet in the Solar System. And it would take a 747 about 850 years to get there (if it could fly in space, which of course it can't.) The distances between things in space are mind-boggling.

I think it's time to honor the historic significance of the original Wright Flyer with a supersonic upgrade.* Let's retrofit the old beloved bird with a single Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-220. With the afterburning turbofan lit up, providing a total 14,590lb of thrust, the ol' gal might do Mach 1.5**, while retaining its beloved nostalgic look of the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. Better late than never-let's properly welcome the Wright Flyer to the 21st century!
_*There may be some strengthening of the airframe and other slight modifications needed._
_**The pilot should probably wear a helmet. Maybe some gloves._

    A few suggestions/comments :
    * The whole scientific community as well as a majority of countries around the globe use metric system. It's a pity they cannot appreciate your job as you stick to imperial units.
    * I doubt the fighters you show would achieve top speed with fuel supply under the wings. Of course they would also need to fly at high altitude but for the sake of entertainment it is reasonable to show them close to the ground.
